Not personally, no. My local library has a book about making carousel horses, but I don't recall any of the questions you have being listed. There's probably an online group for this sort of thing, though. Also, there was a carousel pony swap back in 2013--I think someone there was an enthusiast, but I cannot recall who. I rather like them! As a kid I wanted the Apple Delight family, because we have apple trees in the back yard (only one now; we lost one to a fungal infection (?) after it was hit by lightning in a spot we couldn’t easily see ), but the only set I was able to get as a kid was Sweet Celebrations. I love how the parents don’t have perfectly matching symbols, so the kids have mixed versions of them. Kind of disappointing that they only used the one mold for the dads, though. :T

Okay, I think I’m going to be making the turret tops out of solid chocolate instead of gingerbread, as it makes some of the molds easier, and won’t be quite so heavy (I assume gingerbread houses are heavy, anyway). Also it allows me an excuse to buy some of the microwaveable molding compound I have bookmarked; you can’t use it for baking, but you can use it to mold chocolate.
My first step of course is going to be unpacking a Dream Castle, and I’m pretty sure I’ve only the one, though I have multiple turret tops. Then I’ll have to wash it really well, and determine how I’m going to mold the pieces. Should be able to get it out and evaluated in the next week or so, but I am currently laid up with a broken foot, so I’m a bit slower than I’d like right now.

All right! Sounds like this project is go! I'll buy a smaller quantity of the molding compound first to see how this pans out for the first few pieces, and go from there! by goth I would so love to see this! We make a gingerbread house with the family and it's hard work but it turns out so lovely.
I can't wait to see yours! No pressure tho.
Also I may or may not have thought of the pony gingerbread when I read the title 
Well, you know, it's gingerbread, so Gingerbread should really be there to keep Majesty and Spike company, right?

I was thinking in terms of using some colored white chocolate in the mold to finish the walls, yes.

So I've been watching a lot of Anne Reardon's YouTube channel, "How to Cook That" (had it playing in the background at work today actually), and for a short time the autoplay went through the various gingerbread houses she's made over the years. One item that caught my attention was they now have molds to use to bake the walls of a gingerbread house. And the idea popped into my head to see if I could make a gingerbread Dream Castle.  Now I did check my mold making supplier's web site, and they do have food-grade molding materials that can go into the oven to bake cookies or a cake or something similar, so this is possible to do. I'd probably wind up with the tower tops being molded for chocolate instead of gingerbread, simply to cut down on the weight, though. The turrets may have to be done as two halves, simply due to oven height restrictions; I don't know yet. What I'm wondering is, would you all like to see WIP pictures or for me to record video of the progress while I try to do this? I'm asking now because this way I have a few months to work this through. Update: My gingerbread Dream Castle project is going to happen! I'll post updates as I can (we're using instagram for photo hosting, right?), and we'll see how this chugs along!

For me, I don’t think it’s which one, so much as which version. Flutterbye? Definitely! But which version of the symbol? Assuming just one, of course. If more, then I’d do all versions, spaced decently, of course.

Hey everyone! I have one of these keys. I also have mold making compound, and resin. So now I’m wondering, are the business ends of all these keys the same? I’ve only the one, memory says it’s in great condition (I need to get it out of storage to confirm that, mind), and I can make a mold fairly easily, but if it’ll only work for one or two of them, then I’ll need to search out the key/keys I don’t have for this to be helpful to anyone. I tried searching the wiki, but there isn’t a separate entry for the keys, much less pictures of the ends of the keys, which makes sense (one can hope, but why would there be?). Neither does Summer’s book, which is also understandable, and for the same reason. Can anyone confirm that they’re the same, or all different? Thanks!
