Customs / Cloe - a long-time project finally finished! (trade with Pommes)
« on: December 25, 2023, 07:30:39 AM »
Here is Cloe, a project that has been a WIP since way too long, finally finished.
Cloe is Pommes' super cute bunny character, and as we were doing a custom trade, I wanted to put their character on a pony.

Cloe has been through some things during her time as a WIP - she started out as a baity and scribbled on Parasol (hence the body paint and gradients - all of it covers pen and marker) with a haircut. After initially finishing her paint job, I gave her a coat of my usual varnish, and rooted her with multiple shades of pink and blonde.
The weather then got incredibly hot and humid, and the sealant went all sticky. So sticky it would practically glue the hair to her legs.
We then moved - twice over 12 months.
I finally found where I had packed her about a month ago, and decided it is time to finish this lady.
So I stripped almost all of the sealant (luckily the symbol wasn't sticky - but her original face paint had to go), and repainted her face...

...and here she is!

I want to thank Pommes for their amazing patience (and friendship  )!
And I'm so excited to have finished a custom. I haven't done customs since around 2012, and I am hoping this, and another one I finishedthis month,  is the start of me coming back to customizing ^^

Thanks for looking, I hope you like her :lovey:

she's so sweet! I love the tinsel hair, I've never seen yarn like it before! Maybe this is an odd detail to be all  over, but her wings look SO adorable and squishy! :lovey:

Gonna relax and do some knitting :) I'm catching up with a mystery knitalong that ended nov 1

Shaiyeh, sounds a fun project!!! Not a big cardi person but if I could adapt it to jumper I would

You probably could! It's granny square based, and very simple :)

Update: the video is currently 1:16h long,  hope I can cut it down more tomorrow. My brain is melting and I need to do something else xD

I also sealed two customs (who?! me!!?? ) today, so now they just need hair styling and a photo shoot ;3;

I'm editing a crochet tutorial+vlog today, that I've been working on for almost a month now. it was supposed to be a quick project... I finished the project yesterday. never trust a hyperfixation.
Normally i really like writing voiceover scipts, but tutorials get repetitive and boring to write ^^' But I'm really excited about this project. it's a granny square cardigan with holly leaves. :)

Customs / Re: Dreadlocks in MLP Hair?
« on: December 12, 2023, 04:25:20 AM »
Badjuju's dreadlock ponies look like (and feel like, I own one) they're done with Kanekalon hair, which is what we usually use for synthetic dreadlock extensions for humans as well (I used to wear them back in my teens, emily autumn style).
If you like the synthlock look, it's very easy to make. Rehair with kanekalon, tease a section, twist it, tease again, twist and set it with heat, like steam. there are lots of tutorials on youtube on how to make them.

If you'd rather have authentic loc looks, I would look into using wool, like alpaca or merino, and a very small crochet hook (0.5-1mm). Or wet felt them, although on such a small scale, that might get too stiff.
come to think of it, needle felting might work, too?

You can use an image hosting site like imgur (or I believe discord? if that still works), upload your photo there, copy image address and use [ img ]paste image url here[/ img ] in your post :) (remove the spaces from the bbcode) :frolic:

This is such a good & fun idea!

Ahh there are so many fun board games etc you can play!
i haven't tried this one, but I had a look at it recently - if you like Disney - check out Villainous. It's a board/card game. Otherwise Munchkin is fun, and I love Smallworld and Root.

If you're into fantasy and card games, you could try Magic the Gathering.
If tabletop miniatures sound fun to you (any part of the hobby, be it building/painting/playing), there's a loooot to choose from. I personally adore the painting aspect.

If we step outside of gaming, how about a dance class? Usually courses do a free trial class, if you don't want to commit to a whole course.

And if crafting is your thing, try a new craft! maybe for one of the colder months ^^ (knitting, crochet, spinning on a drop spindle, sewing (or if you sew - a new technique. paper piecing, sashiko...), needle tatting, embroidery...

I love the both option. t's what I picked x) I would love to have the adult takaras, they're so precious. I would pick them if it weren't for the fact  there's a piggy Lemon Drop. I really want to add her to my Lemon Drop army at some point.
