MLP Nirvana / Re: German Baby Cotton Candy (Baby Karamell)?
« on: May 02, 2020, 08:15:12 AM »
My Honeycomb, CJ and Hopscotch have a faint pat pend mark, looking like they had tried to cover it up. I have a Cotton Candy with the same faint marks as well, that was sold to me as german a long time ago. My Buttons dont have any pat pend stamp at all, no trace of it and the hoof is compleetly smooth.
So I would belive both exists. Unfortunately I dont have baby Lemon Drop at hand to compare.  She houses in one of my other Collections

Is it positive that all baby Karamell are lacking the pat pend  stamp? I mean, I'm not sure here, but I think I remember others from the set have pat pend, so why should she be the one that had got it removed? I would guess if the others exist both with and without the PP stamp, then she does too.

Also, I assume she was sold with the other regular carded babies (Firefly etc) in Germany as well, are there any differences between these two?

In the UK she was 1986 and 1987. I think she may be on the Italian insert for 1987, and I know that Leikin and some other people, Katrine possibly, have data for Sweden and Norway about dates. But NC Sundance seems to be in the 1986-7 range (a bit later than the HK version sold in the US).

I'm really no expert on Megan and Sundance (havent really cared for them before actually) But since you mention me, I feel I need to contribute anyway *lol*

She was sold here in the US styled box, but with Swedish text (actually, the only packaging I have seen with swedish text on it, otherwise, everything was in english) and with the all pink bridle. (I'm not sure which one was first released in US, the pink or green leafed bridle version)

I do think the NC version is the only one sold here, but cannot say for sure (And unfortunately I'm not the owner of said MIB so I cannot say if the box says anything on where she was made).
She is shown MIB in dealer catalogues in spring 1987 (but does not appear in the 1986 catalogue) and loose in the fall catalogue, suggesting she was introduced during spring that year, and continued through the fall.  She has no appearence in fall 1988 catalogue, however, I'm missing the spring catalogue for that year, so cannot say if she is present there or not. But at least she would have been available during 1987 here.

Ok, thanks! Is it the colour or how they are made? Here is another one:

the italians have stamped Eyes, while the others have painted Eyes. You can see on the italians, that they are often not exactly following the Eye contour of the mold, or as on your pony, the White shows outside of the eyeliner.  Also, italian Eyes are Always blue. :)

It changes all the time, but one pony I'm particully found of is Cherry Treats.  That shining white with sparkling red hair is amaizing. And just the right amount of green touch in the symbol to make it all more interesting.

On another unpopular note - people wax lyrical about the US packaging, but I think the UK packaging for 1986 and 1987 is the prettiest pony package art ever done. Not just because of the ponies but the whole concept.

YES, the early UK art is much prettier. More colourfull!  Then again, I like the later US art better (when Europe got the cards with borders..)

Thank you for replies :)

I would easily spend 200 - 250 euro on her. I bid on one recently but the head had been removed and I had my doubts about it being authentic so I didn't bid to high.

I have only every seen around 3 sell - not from collectors. I would guess there was under 10 of her?

If you mean the one on ebay togheter with two other sea ponies, I was the one who got them :) She looks genuine to me. The hair is rooted in a way that I dont think a rerooter would have done, with very thin in some places and very thick at other.

So now I just need to find her shell and accessories ^^

How much would an italian pink haired surfdancer be worth today, and how many do we know to exist? 😊

Har to choose, but maybe Greek blur Medley, as I love pink and blue combos (and Medley is a favourite) Its mainly about the colours though. Sadly she is not part of my collection :(

If I choose one I have, I would probably choose Agua Limon. That green body is just popping! Reminds me more of citrus fruits than her actual colours. And, well, because of Lemon Drop :P

I hope this works! Italy Blue Lickety-Split!
It worked! Thank you Pumpkin_Tart!

Oh, I'm soo envious! Pink and blue are my favourite combo, especially these shades of the colours, and Italy is very good at making ponies in those colours. A shame though that everyone of them is so htf :P

Maybe not really about ponies, but something that annoys me is the use of numbering variants from the mlp wiki.  Like "this is Italian Blossom variant nr 3" in sales posts and such.  It's not like they have a distinct official number on which one is which, they just happens to be numbered that way because of the appearence on a list. :P

Aand, I think Tic Tac Toe is a very underrated pony. Especially the baby. I mean, look at the colours in her mane and tail! I love that colour combo!

Norrskenljus told me that the mailorderponies has a different tailwasher from the storebought versions. I dont remeber what the difference was though.

Pony Corral / What kind of merchandise collector are you?
« on: January 26, 2020, 12:01:55 PM »
I know there are quite a few merchendise collectors out there, so I'm curious to hear how you collect. Do you buy Everything pony merchandise, or do you focus on special things, like only puzzles, rubbers and so on, or do you focus on merch including a particular pony only?

Let me see those merch Collections! I want to drool!
