Pony Corral / Re: POTD 8/19/19 Princess Gold Lily
« on: August 19, 2019, 08:52:03 PM »
Princess buzz-saw!
Circular saw symbol princess of hardware store!

I have her, and I think she's ok, (yellow Pegasus yes please) but like everybody else who knows even why she got made? Her and sterling are some of g4s biggest mysteries aside from 'why do they only mane 6' when other characters clearly sold ok...that were actually IN the show. Both of these make zero sense at all to even think of making because everyone was clamoring for Luna or Somnabula or even just background characters yet here comes random princess.

77
Thank you!
I guess they really didn't bother naming them at all. Like how they didn't bother to do quality for the mane and tail either. Hasbro itself making them is good to note too, because lots of things are 'a 10 inch plush' and also 'soft' --  I'm not sure how they decided to be that generic. But, this information is def. good enough that I will be able to at least get it seen on ebay or so, and hopefully get it into a good home.

78
I seem to remember...
Reading about 'upcoming g4 plush' that had some kind of a title for the set. Their distinguishing feature was that the hair was some kind of flat flap of cloth so they could be 'extra cheap' or something. Were they Bargain Line? MLP Basics? Something like that?

Well, I got the Rainbow Dash from that line and I want rid of it / was going to go selling it on ebay when I realized I didn't know what these were called. Does anyone remember? Because I got her in a thrift bag of other plushes I did want.

and the hair really is a flappy cloth

She kind of looks like a little beetle face with those huge eyes (they really put quality in for the embroidery...too bad not for the rest) and the mouth on the underside of the face. Then there's the teeny wings. The tail is like a crumply sock, hollow and perma-wrinkly.
Any help is appreciated,

Does anyone remember what the price of these were at Target?
Target (and I think walmart too) for a while had the Shopkins unicorns like Ringa Bell, Candy Clops and Popsicorn etc. They all had a similar doll from the same line, but weren't packaged together. (good) I collected these, but I threw out all the receipts. Prices on them are climbing (but why) so its like 16 dollars and 13.99 and stuff, but I think Target had them for what, 7.77 or something? I KNOW they weren't any kind of 8 dollars or so.

I'm wondering because I'm trying to sell 2 of these at cost and can't find the real cost.
Does anyone remember how much they were when they were normal at Target?
There isn't even an equivalent out now like 1 normal doll or something from the line. And the website doesn't have it either.

*Also 5 below has the Tropicorn and Popsicorn for 5 dollars now which is reasonable, if you like these and can't get them.

Back from vacation and...
Felt the need to post. If this helps any person avoid the scary hassle I had, it'll be worth it. Because wow Ebay is super deceptive with what they tell you to do if you're going away. And help? It's really hard to find, and certainly there's none online. Is it on purpose/malicious? I don't think so, I just don't think they're very good at what they do with their help pages.

The ONLY SAFE WAY to vacation your listings auctions OR fixed price

1. Go thru each one and set your handling time to more days than the vacation. Gone 8? Set for 10.
That's it.
The only thing you can do, or they'll be happy to burn you because everything's automated.

The help page will of course, call your fixed price stuff 'a store' and tell you how to set it to away, and it gives you this cute little calander where you pick the days you're gone to and from, and helps you set your 'my ebay messages' away message and all, and then lets you hit "save settings" and says everything's all well and good.

But it's not.
That does LITERALLY NOTHING.
Unless you're paying for a store/subscription on ebay. But it lets you go thru all the steps and doesn't remind you/tell you/warn you anywhere that it doesn't apply to fix price or myshop stuff. It lets you act like you have a store when you don't. It leads you into thinking you did the right thing, AND that it will apply to the listings you have up NOW. Terms like 'vacation for fix price', 'vacation listings', 'away from ebay'....all those terms point to the same misleading help page.

So of course, what happens is 2 of the items that I've had up at fixed price that languished for months sold the very first day we hit the wilderness due to murphy's law or something idk.
I ended up having to call ebay (o no) and they said the only thing to do was refund both buyers & then gave the 'handling time' advice, or the 'just tear down all your auctions and end everything right now, then relist it all when you get back'. Well, part 2 of course seems sniffing for fees. So I 1by1 handling time'd and it worked fine, but was labor intensive. Then, naturally, nothing else sold for the whole trip.

But it seems like that advice is nowhere on the internet...at least I sure couldn't find it when I really needed it.
And if that happens, I get compelled to publish the information somewhere at least, so maybe it helps someone.
It's especially relevant because now the whole 'fix price is good till cancelled' thing they implemented. Of course, I was running 0 auctions, and ordinarily I'd of let the fix prices just run out/have nothing up because I know how to be good and plan ahead. But the new way is 'they're up forever' so this is an important bit of info to know.

Pony Corral / Re: SDCC 2019 Exclusive revealed
« on: June 20, 2019, 07:22:08 PM »
How interesting!
I think this little figure is neat, and I do appreciate an effort but it seems kind of odd timing. Like however many people were clamoring for an actual 'g1 pony' for yeeeears and now that the popular StrangerThings and BasicFun are proving what Hasbro never believed (that people are clamoring for actual g1 pony) now Hasbro finally decides to dabble their toe back in.

And, in typical fashion, botch it up a bit.
No, this isn't a g1. Yes, it's cheaper because it's tiny and nobody bothered to sculpt the eye. Even the McDonald G3 had sculpted eye! MCDonald! That yellow clown did it, and Hasbro not. It's not terrible but you can't call it "literally a g1" because it isn't, and that (also typically) is what they're trying to do. I agree with labeling her "Retro Style" or whatever, because that's really what this is. Retro Style. And what gets me is that probably nobody would have minded. Especially at Comic Con, it wouldn't sell a single less or more unit if it didn't false-claim 'it is a literal g1 exactly like old'.

But, typically, a fan is the least likely to be fooled by pulling cheap wool down, and a fan is also the one that cares the most and is the biggest stickler for detail either deleted or added. A fan is the greatest friend of a product (talk it up everywhere/popularize) or it's greatest foe (complain everything/rant online) so doing right by them ought to be priority #1.  Like not having actual dark purple glitter stars or talking about where the neck seam is. THAT is the stuff of real fans. But...if a fan is who you're trying to rope in...it bears more thought than maybe it was given.

But a question or two since I also haven't cared about a release in so long (Pinkiepie in leg warmers exactly.......)
How 'exclusive' are these usually?
Will the average fan be able to get this, like an Arena member who can't attend?
What were their previous price points? / What cost can we expect this /guess this at?
Did they typically sell elsewhere after the con?

All I recall is that ridiculous high cost equestrian doll of what...Mane Iac? Or something who was in literally 1 episode but they acted like she was the new star of the show for like 6 months where blindbox had her henchmen, she was in target, power ponies are everywhere, plus exclusive set of FS ManeIac too. Yeah that single episode was comic themed but....gee whiz.  So this set is tiny, only 2 things and tiny in size as well. It ought to be less?

I want one!
It's nifty enough and novel enough that I've got to grab this set!
It's not exactly G1, but it's pony-like enough (unlike say 1st edition Firefly-Pig & book) where they had to literally steal fan photos to trick people into buying it. ) It's certainly more pony like than the G4.
Like others, I'd be SUPER HAPPY if G5 ends up being THIS. At least it looks like a pony! Not a ball with a smiley face drawn on it. Someone is making an effort to create a horse like fantasy object. They're not there yet....but I do hope this is a bit of test the waters.

82
Yes!
I've seen that 'seller away till x' at the top! I saw it many months ago on a Chinese listing, but I can't find how to do it here. That's what I need to be able to put up there, because like banditpony says, they don't care about automessages while leaving feedback. They've got to know up front & I've got to figure out how to make them. If I get to the answer, I'll put it in this thread so future people can maybe look it up / use it also as it would be useful to know just where to go.

83
Now that Ebay has made it so that everything you put up at fixed price is "Good till Cancel", that means you can't really coordinate your listings any more if you are going away for a typical time of like a week.
Always in the past, if I was going to be away, I would just let everything expire and then list it up again upon return. But now...you can't. I don't want to tear everything down, either.

There IS a way to 'pause listings'
But then when I read about it, ebay just had some lame thing about how they put an autoresponder on your seller messages that says you're away until the date you select. Well, that's no good because by the time someone messages you, they're already having a huge fit as a buyer. And that supposedly 'takes several days' or something to even get your stuff out of the search. And the search doesn't matter anyway because the items have watchers and a watcher doesn't search, it just hits the buying key. And primarily if someone's going to buy...they'll be a watcher first anyway/good likelihood.

Now...I don't have a ton of great items or real fast seller hotcake type stuff, but there is a possibility something'd sell.
What does everybody do about this?
Does the autoresponder actually work?
Is there a way to note it on a listing without editing every single thing that's up there? I've got like 30 things.

Any advice is appreciated by maybe someone who's had to do it before...

Pony Corral / Re: Opinions on this Seashell - Faded/Discoloured?
« on: June 13, 2019, 04:38:25 PM »
Wow that's super weird.
I've never seen one like that where it faded so oddly. Then, why is the head hair different from the tail hair? Could it be a Bubbles head on there? But then, it'd be a very gnarly Bubbles to get the head that color odd that it match the body. The symbols really do look authentic though...(so, someone didn't make a funky Bubbles) Is she a dollar bait or something?
I'd pick her up if she was, just for the novelty of it. It looks like the hair would be fixable with some elbow grease and maybe the spots sunfaded. It would be interesting to pull the head off and have a peek inside. If she was free of cancer it might be an ok idea for a variant to keep around.
Certainly, I'm glad you posted it because she is interesting to see.

Did you ever see a blond majesty?

Well, now you have! And two of them, at that.

I recently got these 2 strangers in on a lot of baity ponies for fixing up. I needed the pose for my project but asked for them specifically so that I could determine just what's going on with their hair.

And, it turns out, it really is original, not a rehair, and it really is that pale yellowish color. If you pull their heads off and look inside, there's a bare-minimum of pale pale greenish blue and the hair is machine-done inside.
Also notice the eye color. One has cornflower blue the other a middle blue but Majesty eye is always supposed to be purple. So it's odd to see that the eye will fade but the glitter won't.

Did someone do it deliberately?
Was it an accident?
Exactly what did it take to get the hair to do that? I've never once seen a blue pulled up all the way to odd yellow.
It won't last: I washed them (They were dirty too of course as is natural with baits) but the hair is super brittle. It crackles apart so you probably can't even brush it. It's thoroughly sun-rotted out & to do anything with them it would have to just be cracked off and removed.

But I wanted to show them before doing any customizing or the hair crumbles away because they are interesting to see.

For Sale - For Auction / Re: 2 Fantasy Fillies in box
« on: June 03, 2019, 03:44:34 PM »
What a cool find!
Fantasy Fillies don't seem to turn up often second hand. I collect this line, but already have these two. I have seen the boxed ones on ebay occasionally, where they seem to do between 80 and 100 for mint in the box. I guess I would price them around what you see on ebay, maybe a little lower because not having to deal with fees. If you got bold enough to ebay them (if everyone here already had these characters or something) you can put them into the store 'forever' now for free (50 free listings/month) and the store option is now 'good till cancel' so you don't have to mind it like you used to.

Good luck with these on here though, MIB such a find!

Pony Corral / Re: Should I Throw Out/Donate My McPonies?
« on: May 28, 2019, 07:41:02 PM »
Thank you for these super responses!
I am much encouraged. I had been reading about how thrifts often end up throwing out way more stuff than one might think (mostly clothes though) and was like 'hmm', is thrifting them even worth it if someone's just going to bin them. But, from a real thrift response that they sell eventually, that's great! I also didn't think of people buying them for party favors and things like that--they would be perfect as a trinket type thing.

I will certainly be donating these, as even at a fair in the past I had been unable to give them away and they weigh a lot/take up much space that I would rather use bringing desirable items into the fair. I do agree that they are MUCH more fun poses than the regular ones---that always bothered me too...like how can a free toy be more energetic looking than one I had to buy? They also had a good run worth of gimmicks like stickers/color change/extra colors/TAF that even the buy-ables didn't get.

Pony Corral / Should I Throw Out/Donate My McPonies?
« on: May 27, 2019, 09:14:27 PM »
It's an odd question to ask...
Throw out ANY-thing pony? ME???

But I don't know what to do with these.
Like any yard-sailor or thrift-bag picker, you get G4 McDonalds ponies in almost everything you do. I'm always picking up 1 or 2 just to get something else. A bag with a Breyer in it just had 3 of them. I always just clean them up, comb/shampoo them along side the rest of the days 'catch', and then toss them in a bucket because I don't know what to do. But then, after this past weekend...the pony toppled out of the bucket. It's full. Is it 2 pounds of these guys? They're starting to really hog up space. And it's space I don't have because especially now, BasicFun.
I actually have 1 of each of the McPony releases, I always kept the one in the nicest shape so I already have a full set of everything, so I'm not even getting rid of my own stuff, it's all just spares/duplicates/sad ones. Some are better than others, color change hair is nice, the first set of them even had Cheerillee who I do army, so they're not bad exactly but just not 4 of everything.

No one is likely EVER going to want these.
Not like those G3 ones where they actually looked like ponies and could even make pretty little customs or ornaments.
McD did literally a squillion of these things
They weigh a ton to discourage shipping
You'll never be able to sell them at a fair (no shipping) because everybody's got like 30 just out of happenstance
Even if you socked them away in a storage unit and broke 'em out in like 2050 they'd probably still be common
It seems a shame to run out of space like this after going to the trouble of cleaning them all.

So they've got to go, but I don't know how
1. Recycle bucket them
2. Donate them if there's a goodwill (but what if they throw it out)
3. ???

Has anyone else ran into this problem with just 'winding up with' so-so many of these?
What did you end up doing?

+-*Its Real Goblin Hours*-+
Wow these are super weird. And confusing. I keep wanting to like stuff but can't. It's like the bodies are a good idea by themselves, they have 'pony like' limbs (finally) but then the turbo giant heads wreck it for me. Then, the style of the eyes are cute, with the hearts & glitter....but they're way too big for even the super-bigheads. And it's like how did they get from 'its a pony' to somehow "The horse is the animal known for having a perfectly spherical head"? Where does that keep coming from? I also agree that the 'nose' does look like foofy over-done lips...eerie human lips. You can see almost a good idea in there but...

Yes the 2 random princesses were Gold Lilly (Buzz-saw) and Sterling (a diamond)
Also like G4 Sunny Daze and Cotton Cloud can go up there with Skyla...they had that mold and they were gonna milk it, show be thrown to the side or not. That's super duper likely to be what they did here. Just 'baby ize' it, because everything ends with babies.
Monster high got babies and stopped,
bratz babiez and stopped,
G3 turned into 3.5 babies doing magical belching ...and stopped...
when they trot out the babies that's the end of the line it seems like so this is fitting because we know it's ending. With the show down to 'the last season' there's not likely much chance to baby-ize everyone to reinforce the toyline. Plus, their history of ignoring cool stuff in the show that would've made a great toy (changeling toys? no. Griffen toys? no. non-mane toys? no.) shows that they don't care about the show at all. Having them make sense (no wings, no symbol, no curls) would be too much effort and 'make less pretty toy' so they wouldn't be bothered.

Looking at the size/construction of the sippy bottles, I rather bet these are big. I also bet they're costly.
What a wacky thing to turn up late in the game.

I think she's Sugarberry red, in dollyhair colors?
I rehaired one a long time ago, and I think that's what was used. But, the other reds would probably also look good, Cherry Pie is just so rich of a color.
