I've known them as alicorns for well over a decade, so, no, the definition has nothing to do with the g4 line of MLP. They've been called alicorns outside of MLP for quite awhile.
In fact, until just a couple years ago, I'd never heard the term alicorn to specifically refer to the material of a unicorn's horn and was very confused before I realized what they were getting at. I think it was in an old '80s movie that was on tv.
Would that old 80's movie happen to be Legend? I'm pretty sure they called the horns alicorns in there!

Well I like the name Derp.y (hides in case of thrown fakies) and don't understand the fuss to change it. She kinda makes me think of Goofy from Disney and he is a favorite of mine.. That's just me though.. Are we still allowed to call her Derp.y  ..I would hate to cause something just because I used that name.. O.k whats with the auto correct,I just noticed before I posted? 
Yes, I always considered her a character like Goofy. I don't understand why she gets so much debate, Derp.y is a fine name for her.
And I still don't understand why moms made such a fuss over her voice/name in The Last Round Up. Why don't angry moms go make fuss over Goofy instead? Can girls not be "goofy" or "clumsy"? Do girls have to be perfect and pretty? Because I thought the show was about teaching girls that they can be themselves anyway way they want! And to accept friends that are different! Well, Derp.y was definatly "different", and look what complaining moms have taught their kids by doing this!
I love the name  Pony as well, but I also kind of imagine it as a nickname, Sometimes I even call her Ditzie Pony Doo. And honestly, I love the redubbed voice of her over her original...but I loved the original scene, it was more true to Rainbow Dash's personality... If we could just splice the two scenes together, I'd be a VERY happy pony! The original voice sounded more boy-ish to me, but the redub made her sound exactly as I had imagined her sounding. Cute, Dizzy, and sounding slightly dumb blond. You know like that one blonde cheerleader that never really understands what is going on, I think we've all had to deal with somebody like that! And yeah, she is more-or-less our Goofy now. But she also reminds me a TON of G1 Applejack. 'Falling into posts and knocking over fences'...Yup I can see her doing that! I think it would be a lot of fun if somebody was to re-do that Twinkle-Eye Comic that featured Applejack only in FiM Style with Miss Pony taking the role of Applejack!

So as we are waiting for the comic con pony this year to either drop in price or arrive at our doorsteps, I thought we could talk about her name. Since I know a lot of people don't like her 'Brony' Name, what names do you use to identify her?
And what names do you use for other ponies if you don't like their real names?
For me, I tend to call the little wall-eyed pony Ditzie, Fizz, or Bubbles.

I got the shipping confirmation on mine today. Yay to that!
However, today was my day to stalk for Scarah Screams on Mattel.  I had her in my cart and was on a refresh page for 10 to 15 minutes - and I lost her! I am soooo upset about it. I'd rather have her than Ditzy any day. So (long shot, but hey!) if any of you who want Ditzy happened to get a Scarah and would rather have Ditzy - I'd GLADLY trade her!
Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened to you. I looked on a whim, seeing if maybe I could get one for the exact reason of a possible trade, but yeah they were long gone by the time the page loaded for me. I would feel bad though, buying her just to trade for a Ditzy.
Yeah... I was pretty confident I was going to nab Scarah! I didn't buy Ditzy for trade fodder either - I want her for my collection because she's so different. I'm just gutted I missed Scarah... and I'd do anything not to have to pay $100 for her, blehhhh. Now I know how everyone who didn't score a Ditzy feels for sure. I am sorry for you all!
Shoot!! Scarah was today?! I thought she was next week!!

I regret letting my little cousin play with my Applejack as a kid. She ripped her tail out and threw it away when I wasn't looking. Next day (My grandma had been watching us both, and the next day it was just me) I found my AJ hiding in my Grandma's closet, and the garbage man had already come by!
I also regret ever taking my ponies to my mom's work!! I lost Baby Drummer...And he was never seen again.

We are just now barely getting the wedding ponies!! And Crystal Empire is already showing up?! And by Just barely I mean, the giant talking Princess Cadance, the glimmer wings of Fluttershy and Daisy Dreams (Just came in today). The Flower Fillies three pack, and I have seen ONE Set of Luna and Celestia and both had bad misprints on their eyes/cutie marks.

I don't think they would cancel if it was going to another address in another state  But I could be wrong
OH I hope they wouldn't!!!
They said they were checking credit card info, so as long as you used different payment methods, it should be fine.
So assuming different credit cards held by different people with the shipping to different addresses (But you live together and used the same account) would be fine? Like if you had a family member buy one for a friend and you bought one for yourself?

That would be great if they did this. Just because "Friendship is Magic" is so popular, doesn't mean that other MLP shows need to be neglected and forgotten.
I only fear what may the reaction be...
I have been hosting some G1 Marathons with the MN Brony Facebook group, the response has been pretty positive. Most have just dismissed G1 in the past because a lot of them remember just G3 and Tales. And as much as I love Tales, it isn't quite as adventurous as Friends or Friendship is Magic. A lot of them were surprised at how good Friends was, and how much has actually translated over to the new series.

This just further muddles the claim of 'We can't use the old G1 ponies' Umm....You have the rights to the episodes, I think you can? You made a trademark of Granny Smith, I think anything is possible at this time.
Oooh! Idea!!! G4 Brushie set of Twilight, Sparkler, Surprise, Posey, Firefly and maybe have Sundance in place of AJ, and since Hasbro has the rights...put a mini DVD with the first two specials in the box. But don't name the ponies on the box. Leave that for the kids to realize 'Oh wow! This pink pegasus with a blue mane and blue lightning bolt cutie mark looks just like Firefly!!! I'll call her Firefly too!'
Win/Win we get our collector set. the bronies get some awesome ponies (Guess what, a lot of them love Surprise and Firefly). Kiddies get new ponies. And Hasbro gets lots of money. Make it part of the ToysRUs Collectors Line that the White Fashion Style Celestia and the Nightmare Moon set are part of and it will be golden!!

As a thought, what if they did release a normal fashion style Pony? But she'd be exclusive to the site, but in normal Fashion style boxing, and in the style of a fashion style with some fashions and maybe muffin barrettes to wear? And to tell them apart, the cutie mark would go on the opposite side, and the eyes could be flip-flopped as well (The one pointing up points down and the one pointing down points up) Love to see maybe a Brushable sized one as well!! I mean, yeah sure Transformers big Comic Con toy this year was Bruticus, but he has normal releases as well. Just not quite the same as the comic con version, my theory is kind of the same concept. same pony, just altered enough for people to look and say 'Oh, that is a retail version.'

From what I read frequently on EQD, they seem to only like the ones with molded hair (like from the first gift set) and the blind bags. Are they just making an exception since it's Pony? I'm really curious about this.
They went crazy about the 'collectors favourites' pack too that came with Nightmare Moon and DJ PON-3, so I think it matters which pony it is.
You know, apart of me wants to think that Ditzy Doo was originally meant for that favorites pack...
And that is why Dash is there now! It makes sense!! But then who would Pinkie be replacing?

I was just thinking about that, They better not make it 'show accurate'!!! Go take an extra Dash Fashion Style and customize it into a Ditzy and make that one 'Show Accurate'!!
