I use this site for identifications: https://lpsmerch.com/ - it can be a bit tricky figuring out which type of animal it's been classified as though.  This looks like #1608 to me (listed under kitten cat).

There's always the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville.

Outside of Kentucky, Chicago has lots of great museums my favorites being the Field Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Science and Industry, but there are plenty of other great places to visit there as well.  There's also a Medieval Times in the area.  It's not terribly far to visit the Tempel Lipizzans either.

I'll second the National Parks, particularly Mammoth Cave - I've been on one tour there and hope to get back for another in a different part of the cave.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: bubble mailer versus box for loose ponies
« on: October 10, 2017, 09:12:55 AM »
Since a box will weigh several ounces more than a bubble envelope, it will be more expensive to ship, but the main difference will be if it pushes the total weight over the limit for First Class shipping.  If it stays under that, the difference will only be a few cents, but going over it could mean several dollars.  Of course, some ponies (any with fragile parts such as wingers) should always be shipped in a box.

Bubble envelopes are cheaper to buy especially if you get them in bulk, but you can often pick up used boxes for free at stores when they're stocking their shelves.

The only time I've run across this has been when the payment has been sent in a different currency.  I then have to choose whether to accept or deny the payment; and if I accept, whether to keep it in that currency or convert it to USD.  I'm not sure if there's anything else that can trigger something similar or not.

I can pick up a few for those that don't have a Five Below, but I'm not sure how many they have in stock at the local store.

what size are these, can any one help with a comparison photo next to a g1 please  also what are they made out of, are they squeshy or hard :)

They're bigger and made of a firm vinyl - they can be squished a bit but they're not all that soft.

Congratulations!  The Breyers are #6 Palomino Family Arabian Foal and #59 Morganglanz (the first one listed on the ID your Breyer site - he had quite a bit of variation in shade over the years he was produced).

Oh man, I saw these on Roogna's Facebook page the other day and just fell in love! I would sooo love to have one of these, but I don't live in the US anymore and the store locations are extremely limited. I'll be in TN and FL for Christmas, but there don't appear to be any Five Below stores in those states. Sad face!

We do have Five Below in TN though it depends on which part of the state you're going to be in.  There are several in the Nashville area but very few in the rest of the state.  The same appears true for FL - there are several that come up on their store locator for the Orlando area but they're very scattered throughout the rest of the state.

On the USPS site under Mail & Ship, choose "Calculate a price."  Put in the zip codes or country then choose "Calculate price based on Shape and Size" (last option).  On the next page put in the weight and choose "Package" for anything more than 1/4 in thick or "Large Package" if the box has a side longer than 12 in (this option will take you to another page where you'll have to put in the dimensions of the box).  The final page will give you the costs for various shipping methods.  Priority is near the top under the express options and just before the flat rate boxes.  First Class is near the bottom.

Pony Corral / Re: Seashell has a blue eye?
« on: September 26, 2017, 09:44:58 AM »
Her head looks VERY faded in the second picture, and yellow is usually the first colour to go. So when you have green, blue is what you get when the yellow pigment has faded. I think that's what happened here. :)

Agreed, green paint can definitely fade to blue.  We painted an outer door on a building a dark green a few years ago.  It gets direct sunlight for much of the day and while it hasn't quite reached the pure blue stage, it is starting to look far more blue than green now.

The image share wasn't working for me either; so I had to grab screenshots.

I would definitely like more control over the colors.  Plus, I kept ending up using the same mane style because I preferred brighter colors offered over the more subdued colors of the other styles.  This was as close as I could get to one of my ponysonas -

Pony Corral / Re: Show me deflocked ponies!!
« on: September 06, 2017, 10:10:24 AM »

I genuinely don't understand the logic of deflocking the ones that have regular versions as an official release, though. I mean, it's fine, but seems like a lot of work to go to to get a pony that Hasbro already made :/ Wind Whistler I understand because her symbol is different, and Magic Star has a different pose, but Shady, Buttons and North Star seems like a wasted effort to me and Gusty even more so. Cupcake and Truly are also easily mistaken for their regular counterparts.

Well, if you live in a country that didn't get a regular release and are willing to do the deflock yourself, then it's much easier not to mention cheaper to track down a baity SS than it is to find a good condition normal one from overseas.  For ones like Gusty that had a normal US release, I agree that there's little point in deflocking.  I have deflocked a Posey, but that's because what little flocking she had (and it wasn't much) was all clumped like pilled material and looked simply horrendous.

Love the crumpet pic, Breyer!

Thanks!

I love how bright Best Wishes, Twist  and Twilight's bodies under the flocking/after the flocking is removed. :)

Ponyfan

Yes, their colors really pop.  In fact, Twist is probably my favorite deflock.

Taffy is so perfectly yellowed that, well I think I like her better that way. :)

The flocking gives the ponies a softer, rounded and sleepy look. But I love the bright, wild colors underneath some of them too.

The yellowing is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to have a complete set of deflocks.  Taffy and Angel really illustrate the problem.

They are lovely without the flocking, but count me in on the beyond repair deflocking candidate camp.

Oh, yes, I searched hard to find ones that had severe flocking loss or major stains that couldn't be removed before deflocking any.  For instance, this was the seller's pic of Magic Star:

Then, I also deflocked this one before selling her:

I tend to forget to take before pictures; so, I don't have many for the others.  I remember Taffy had practically no flocking left at all except on her head and Buttons had a huge brown stain on the side of her face.
