Just wondering if anyone who is UK based and maybe uses the store regularly knows what's happened with my little customs?  I have been looking to order some dolly hair for a while but the majority of their colours are out of stock.  I keep checking back to see if there's been a restock but nothing   

Is it usual for them to take so long to replenish stock?

P.s mods sorry in advance if this should be in customs....I always debate with myself and if in doubt go for corral

Ahhhh.....thank you I have not seen that step of the process mentioned anywhere, I knew about sealing the symbols when doing a symbol repaint, don't know why it didn't occur to me that you would have to seal the fbr...doh ! mystery solved!

Hello all

So dipping my toe into the waters of customs I have managed to (surprisingly ) pretty successfully repaint a really cheap fake G3 using really cheap acrylics that I had kicking about.  I used cheap materials really just to practice before attempting a g1 custom and followed Roognas tutorial (thanks it was great ).  I have re haired before when restoring so I am not worried about this. 

I am now scared to start painting on the symbols.  I am wondering what kind of thickness the paint should be and what happens if I make a mistake? How do you fix the mistake without taking off the repaint colour underneath or do you just wait for it to dry and paint over, either way I would be concerned about it then looking bad.

I am also interested as to what brands of paint (uk based) people use, I looked at the liquitex but they are a bit more than I want to shell out to start off with, the ones I have are really cheap (like from the £1 shop), should I just stick with these until I get a bit of practice or would the quality make the learning curve more difficult? I know I definitely need to get some better brushes.

So today I packed up my collection to get ready for moving and was sad to see my ponies all haphazardly piled into one box.   I have not yet had the chance to display my ponies as I was aware that I would be moving so it seemed pointless.  Anyway to cheer myself up I was thinking how nice it will be to be able to show them off properly once I am settled. 

So....I would love to see ideas and examples of other people's displays.  I saw Solsticeadam and Princess Lalas shelves in another thread and would love to know how I would search for this in the uk (as in what kind of shelving is it).  But would also like to see what others have done 

So last week I found my self adding a cutie mark magic rarity that was in the reduced section in to my supermarket trolley (I am fond of rarity).  She was the first G4 I have bought.  Yesterday whilst having a look about for prices the rest of the set, I noticed tru were doing buy one get one half prices on ponies....payday today and I have returned home with 5 rainbow magic(? They have glitter hair?),and another 3 cutie mark magic ponies    but they were £2.99 each at buy one get one half price which I thought was a bargain! I think this is going to spur the start of a G4 collection to run along side my g1s....

Anyway I know absolutely nothing about G4, I have had a look at the guide hathhorcat created which is fab.  I think to be honest I would only go as far as to collect the single brushable figures, I don't think I can be trusted to leave them mib  and there is no way I will keep track of accessories   (sorry to all you mib people I envy you buy have to be realistic and honest with myself  )

The thing is that with the G1 and G3 ponies each pony is quite obviously different, where as I gat the impression that until you start getting into the more recent waves of G4 where they have glitter hair, patterns etc.  From what I can see on the guides the main difference with the earlier G4 waves is the accessories (unless it's a different character pony obviously).  Am I missing something?  I guess what I am getting at is how would you tell the difference between a rarity that was from wave 1 and one from say wave 5 if you were only looking at a loose figure?

Also I have seen figures on eBay from China that are quite obviously fake and are not branded but then others that say they are hasbro or in the us style clear bags, what's the story with these?

Experts please enlighten me

Hello all,

I bought a lot of bait ponies a while ago and with them came a McDonald's uk/ euro  g2 sweet berry.  I was just browsing eBay and saw the same pony going for $35, is this how much it is worth? 

There was also a uk/euro g3 star bright un opened in the bag with the stand and stickers, is this of any value?
