Off Topic / Re: Anyone work in a Zoo / with captive animals?
« on: January 13, 2017, 09:12:05 PM »
Working in a zoo was one of my childhood dreams...I probably clocked in well over 100 hours playing zoo tycoon as a child. :P

That being said, getting into a zoo is somewhat difficult. Actually, I've been rejected from the same one at least 7 times. Like a lot of businesses, they do a lot of inside hiring--and they usually want people with several years of experience of working with at least farm animals. A couple of very expensive post-bachelor degrees don't hurt, either.

From what i've seen and heard from my fellow biologists, your best chance of getting into a zoo is working as an intern for a while---which is usually, unfortunately, not a very well-paying job (sometimes unpaid, actually). However, you may be able to work with animals in unexpected settings, as well. I have a friend who works keeping horses for a special needs summer camp. There are also plenty of places that take in unwanted exotic pets, and small local zoos as well.

It's definitely going to take a lot of hard work! But if you really love the animals, you'll find a way. :) If you do, give me pointers--I'm a bit lost myself. :P

They're amazing! Honestly, I would love to see more alicorns like these two. I hope they won't be retired with the reboot!

Awwww! That's so cute! The scale of the scooter and the helmet suits that baby pony so well!

In the US here--I've been on the hunt for wave 3 for a while now. All I've seen are those unusual new molds for this new wave/reboot they're doing. It's almost like they skipped wave 3 entirely. I was able to get pretzel and cherry berry, but I was really looking forward to the non mane six characters :\

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and order them from that certain online auction site...

I remember seeing one in a store and thinking, "the first thing the kid is going to do is lose all of those damn beads and then there's going to be a bald pony laying around the house". Also, the finished look is....not appealing to me. It reminds me of those busy toys that were in every dentist's office in the 1990s. You know, this thing...

Pony Corral / Re: I just found these ponies on Ebay and???

I saw several of these in my nearby Target and they're bigger than their happy meal counterparts. They're actually a little bigger than normal G4s.

I think Lyra was one of, if not the first G4 I bought that resurrected my childhood interest in MLP and started my crazy collection  When she was on display, I usually kept her hair in a curly ponytail. I really wish G4 had more ponies in teal or greenish colors...she's a very nice pony, and she was just a basic loose from Target for $2.99.

Pinkie pie for sure! She's my most recent G4 purchase, actually. I just think she and gummy are so cute!

Yep uvu, she was one of the rereleased pones, there was also Butterscotch, Snuzzle, Peachy, Minty, and I believe Cotton Candy. When looking at the flat-footed ponies on Ebay I usually make sure to get a pic of their footstamp just to make sure I'm getting an actual vintage toy and not one of the remakes
shes a retro pony! hasbro re-released the original six ponies for the brands 25th anniversary! the gal you've got there looks to be blue belle!

here is some more info from my little wiki!
Wow! So cool! :) I thought she was special, and I was right! I'll have to spruce her up a little bit  ^.^ Thanks!

Pony Corral / Real or Fakie? Anyone know?
« on: January 11, 2017, 06:32:07 PM »
Hi everyone! It's been a while.  :P

So this pony has been in my collection a while, but I've never really looked into whether she's fake or real. I want to say fake, since her body is somewhat hard (not squishy like real G1s) and her hair doesn't feel like nylon. However...

she's got this little stamp on her foot that says "hasbro 2007". Did the maker go out of their way to try to make this fakie look real, or did hasbro release some retro-looking ponies in '07? I wasn't a collector back then, so I wouldn't know.

Fake or real, her eyes are painted very nicely!

So I saw a picture of the new pearlies and I may just head out to the nearest 24-hour walgreens to try my luck :P SERIOUS heart eyes for the non-mane 6 ones...so far I have pretzel and cherry berry. Fingers crossed for the rest!!
