Customs / Re: How would you strip a paint job?
« on: August 28, 2023, 08:06:04 AM »
If it's a FBR and I used acrylic paint I just let it sit in hot water for a while and then peel off as much as I can.  After that I touch up the stubborn bits with acetone on a cotton ball or q-tip depending on the area needed to be removed.

I'm getting very dissatisfied with my job.  The work is fine but the management is awful and most of us want to quit.  I have enough set aside that if it gets too bad I can walk away without another job in place but I really hope it doesn't come to that.

Yeah...I need to be better about stuff, too.  That one run with my niblings was the only one we did this summer.  We just never made time to do it again.  I'm working on getting back in the habit of using the treadmill since my brother decided to DoorDash around the country so he's somewhere over in South Carolina last I heard.  But I'm also taking it easy this week because I twisted my ankle so I'd rather not aggravate that more than necessary.

So here's a cheer for everyone who is trying to do whatever it is they're doing!  :cheer:

I was surprised to see a picture of Mao from The Devil is a Part Timer on McDonald's Facebook page today.  I'm not exactly sure what they're doing but it's something called a "Tie in Meal" and they mentioned several movies/tv shows that have featured McDonald's in some way.

Yeah, I heard they were doing meals "As Featured In" TV and Movies, so you can order a meal "as Featured in Loki" right now and it looks like it comes with a Sweet and Sour sauce packet with the Loki logo on it.  So since The Devil is a Part-Timer basically takes place in a McDonald's (but not called McDonald's), it doesn't surprise me they might use that as an inspiration.

Pony Corral / Re: Acetone on ponies -yay or nay?
« on: August 08, 2023, 12:31:39 PM »
I only use acetone to remove paint from baits, and I make sure to use it sparingly--generally applying what I need with a q-tip--and then I wash it off as soon as I am done removing the paint.  Didn't someone do an experiment where they put a pony in acetone for a long time and it expanded?  Or am I thinking of something else?  I think they used a Peachy as their bait for it.

If I was selling a pony, I would do a general clean with soap and water and allow the buyer to decide if they wanted to use harsher chemicals to get off other marks.

The RightStuf sale is winding down.  All the month's Megadeals are back on Megadeal prices.  So if you want something, get it soon!

Randomly looking for dvds of Saiyuuki zeroin (the only Saiyuuki anime I don't have a DVD for yet) and came across this...

Have you checked RightStuf?  It's the last week of their birthday sale and I think they had some of the Saiyuuki animes on sale.

It's more a problem that there only seems to be a blu ray release :/  It seems mad given that the series is as old as it is, both the manga and the anime...that the final animated section would only be available in the one format, but hey. There we are.

The Burial arc wasn't ever released in the west on DVD as far as I know; I had to get a Japanese ex library copy second hand for that one :/ Maybe this will end up being the same - but right now it doesn't look like there are dvds anywhere.

In the meantime, happily it's still on hidive, and is genuinely the only reason I still have a hi dive sub.

Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of animes are being released only on blu-ray.  It's caused some problems for the library where I work because the librarians are hesitant to purchase a blu-ray only copy when most people around here only have DVD players.  We still have people ask us for VHS tapes.

Love it!  I can't decide if Baby Moondancer is thinking "This is fine" or [very bored] "Ugh, this again?"  She almost looks like she just got done rolling her eyes.

The co-worker who has been told explicitly NOT to go into my office had to be stopped from going into my office before I came in this morning by another co-worker who is aware of the situation.  If I say anything about this situation, I'm targeting him.  If anyone else says anything, they get ignored, because this person "is just trying to do his job"...by being insubordinate.  Which is expressly forbidden by the handbook.  But it's okay for him.  Because he "always has a smile" and the director likes that.  So the garbage he pulls gets overlooked and the rest of us suffer the consequences.  So far HR sides with the director because the director couldn't possibly be biased in favor of anyone.

The person who makes work miserable for me will be out until next Tuesday.  I get a break for a couple of days anyway.

Plus, it's "Gruntled Employees Day" so you're supposed to find the positive things about work.
