Off Topic / Re: What is your favorite type of music?
« on: November 17, 2021, 06:14:02 AM »
I have quite a few favorite music genres, both pop and classical. I'll give examples with them. =)

On the pop side, my favorite genres are Classic R&B/Soul (as in, from 70s and before), 70s Soft Rock, British Folk/Rock, Progressive Rock/Psychedelic Rock, and Baroque Pop.

On the classical side, my favorites are medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, French Impressionism, and some later works.

Off Topic / Re: Halloween! Are you celebrating?
« on: October 30, 2021, 06:00:23 PM »
I don't really celebrate Halloween. I do not like horror stuff at all, so needless to say, the horror themed decor is not my thing.

Dressing up in costumes might be fun, though. I haven't done it in forever.

I've never drank them.

I stopped drinking anything caffeinated many years ago now. I realized that it wasn't do anything to keep me alert and awake anyway. After some health issues and a doctor telling me that they might be related to caffeine I just completely dropped it.

Off Topic / Re: What is your favorite thing about Autumn?
« on: October 30, 2021, 05:53:01 PM »
My favorite thing is... that it is autumn. You know how many people come to life during Spring, well I'm the complete opposite. I become much more cheery as summer ends and we progress toward winter. Autumn just makes me happy! The weather gets nicer and the bugs disappear. It's much more pleasant to spend time outdoors, especially in the late autumn and winter.

The leaves are also really pretty. Not so much this year so far. =/ It stayed hot far too long and the some of the trees actually lost leaves before turning pretty because earlier this week was so windy. Hopefully we'll get some pretty trees, as there are still plenty left.

Jazz Matazz and the baby pony that came with her (Wave Catcher?). In 2014.

Oh wow. I didn't realize it got that hot in OK. That's higher than our temps are going to be, we'll be in the low 90s but with the humidity it'll feel hotter. I saw a new predictive map for climate change, it's supposed to be the most accurate to date. The biggest changes are going to be the NE coast and the along the Great Plains. They say the best spots to live in the US to avoid the harshest effects of climate change are from where I used to live (because of course it is); Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan will still have four discernable seasons, including Upper Michigan, which is a cheap place to live. But you gotta watch out for sinkholes. In my "lottery fantasies" my goal is to move there, or somewhere in mid Wisconsin. Florida is too hot, has too many bugs that can kill me and hurricanes (AND sinkholes, tornados, fires and flash floods plus "Florida man").

Yeah... Florida is miserable. I would be so depressed living there.

I have tried to convince my parents to move to Michigan (I don't want to go without them, and also I can't really be fully independent with my lack of ability to drive and all), but they don't like that it's not a true blue state. I understand but I think that's irrational when we live in one of the most red states in the nation. At least in Michigan we could move to Lansing or Ann Arbour and be in an actual blue county/city. There are absolutely no areas like that in Oklahoma.

The fact of the matter is that it's the only logical move from where we live with our finances. I'd love to move to New England, but I don't want to be stuck in Oklahoma forever just because we can't afford to move to the best area. I'm very much a settle for something better but not perfect kinda person. Michigan is that happy medium, IMO.

I'm probably biased because climate is also very important to me (obviously) and Michigan would be so nice.

It's October but it's supposed to be in the 90s the new few days.  :enraged:

Same. (do you live in Florida?) The humidity is coming back too. It's been very dry with a low dew point for a couple of weeks but they said "expect summer nights!" which means it's going to be sticky and miserable.

I don't even live in Florida, I live in Oklahoma, where we are at least supposed to have some resemblance of fall. It's supposed to get up to 95/96 on Friday.  :enraged:

This is OCTOBER. It is FALL. Seriously, I hate living here so much. Miserable place, for many many reasons.

Milk chocolate is delicious! I especially love Dove's, it's just mmmm. But I don't eat a lot of it due to me having allergy to milk.

I also think white chocolate is pretty good in small portions.

Off Topic / Re: WHat's the shortest time you've ever stayed in a job?
« on: August 24, 2021, 06:34:49 PM »
I've only worked two jobs before and the second job I worked quite a bit less time than the first - just over a year and a half. It's a wonder I made it that long because my chronic illness was causing me immense pain and making my productivity terrible.

Original all the way, I actually cried during one episode of the original Twisted Sister because
Spoiler
Bunny dies
then I started laughing at the narrator but had tear in my eyes
Spoiler
seeing Bunny

I remember crying to that, too!

Anyway, I haven't really watched anything other than the original series. The anime was a bit weird to me so I never bothered looking up how to watch it, and I've heard really bad things about the reboot. =(

I eat eggs quite frequently. It's one of the few things I can eat. Lol. I only eat them scrambled, though. My mom makes them really good, and I also really like Braum's in their country breakfast.

Off Topic / Re: What musical instruments do you play?
« on: July 26, 2021, 07:28:08 PM »
Love listening to these parts in symphonies

Yes, the oboe especially gets beautiful parts in the orchestra! I'm sad to say I have never played the oboe in an orchestra setting (only bassoon), but the wind ensemble I was in a few years ago in college played some orchestral music here and there (including Stravinsky's Firebird suite and some Holst's Planets) and I was ecstatic.

Oh how I'd love to play the oboe (and English horn!) in orchestra someday!

Also, I will say I've always loved the cello! It's a beautiful instrument!

I also have had a bad habit of crushing on cellists IRL.  :yikes:

Her colors probably kept me from taking a good look at her before, but now that I look at her, she's really beautiful! Her symbol is gorgeous, too!

They're smaller then I'd hoped.

Right? This generation's toys are quickly becoming a hard pass for me.  :(
