Don't have her, but she is one of my all-time favourite G3s. Her colour scheme is just irresistibly awesome!

These are hands down some of the nicest fakies I've ever seen! Obviously, they're all knockoffs, but Luna and Cadance look real nice in Celestia's pose.

She's nice, but not really my thing in particular, like a lot of the second set of So-Softs (I do love Angel, Bangles and Twilight though).
I'll pass today :(.

I actually have way more G1 comics and merchandise from the UK (mostly UK Club Member stuff) than I do legitimate ponies (asides from the 30 G4s I own). My G1, G2 and G3 collection combined (if you want to count plush Starshine) equates to only 20 ponies, with 15 G1s, a single G2 and 4 G3s. I usually get G1s that I enjoy from the show, but in the case of Mountain Boys, wingers, etc., I may make an exception in the future.

Glory. I really dislike the Moondancer pose (makes the poor unicorns look overweight) but there's something about her colour scheme that makes her so lovably regal to me.
Also, Tales Bright Eyes. I also dislike the Tootsie pose, and while it doesn't suit Bright Eyes' inquisitive and knowledgeable personality, I just can't imaine her in any other pose (Bright Eyes being my favorite of the girls in the show is another huge factor in this! I also really love her comic personality - it seems to fit her pose better - a shy but intelligent character is what I see in her toy form).

These have a simple kind of charm to them. Could you do Sunburst (the Mountain Boy) please?

So, over the past month I've acquired:
SS Magic Star (in completely mint condition, she lacks her stand though, she and Truly should take up diving as a hobby without them :)
Baby North Star: It's comforting to have that adorable face staring at you from your shelf when you wake up every morning...
Plush Starshine (open mouthed version) (hair's not in the greatest condition, but she's very adorable, I'm considering getting plush Moondancer now)
Also a few more G1 comics as usual (MLP and Friends issues 1-6), some including stories starring the Mountain Boys!

Have her, she is one of 4 G3s I own :).
Although she's in pretty rough condition, I appreciate her colour scheme and gimmick.

I 'm not crazy about blue Starhopper. That shade of yellow, just doesn't go with such a gorgeous shade of teal.
Agree with you on Starhopper. Her mane's (really cheesy, overly bright) yellow just completely clashes with her soft, calming teal body tone.

I'm in the same camp about Starhopper.  She's so much better like this:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

(Sorry. Couldn't resist showing her off again.    :P )

Seriously, though, I really had mixed feelings when I got her (and not just because she was in rough shape).  Sparkles are great!!  But I just couldn't like that yellow hair...
Starhopper looks great! Her mane colour not only fits her body colour now, it also matches her symbol as well.

Pony Corral / Re: The Princess Ponies' UK Comic Origins
« on: May 05, 2016, 09:42:23 PM »
Hmmm...

The Princess Ponies are one of the few sets whose origin is never really explained in the comics. Basically, their 'introduction' was just them showing up in one issue, then Majesty telling the readers at the back of the comic that they were the Princess Ponies and they had come to live in Dream Castle with her. No explanation of any origin.

The Prince High and Mighty thing was the only insight of the Princess Ponies' origins we ever got. This information appears in the 1988 annual, in a story basically concerning the Princess Ponies commissioning Gingerbread to make gingerbread biscuits for Prince High and Mighty, who is visiting Ponyland from the Dismal Desert, but she winds up serving him ones that 'squeak'. They mention the Princess Ponies' past here...
'"Prince High and Mighty wants to visit all his friends, especially the Princess ponies". "They used to live in the Dismal Desert with him" remembered Baby Applejack."'
How does Baby Applejack know this?  Did the Princess ponies tell the babies, or does everyone's favourite orange baby pony know more than she's saying...

Strange that they never elaborate on the Princess Ponies' origin. Of all the sets not to explain... Personally, I see their origin this way:

The Princess Ponies were six ordinary nomadic ponies who were found by Prince High and Mighty, who recognized their kindness and honesty and gave them the title of princesses, gaining six dragon attendees. However, they objected to some of PHAM's decisions, and he traded them to the Jewel Wizard as slaves, where they worked in the deeper parts of his mine along with the blinded Twinkle-Eye ponies. However, a week later (they hadn't lost their sight at that point like the Twinkle Eyes had) Applejack defeats the Jewel Wizard, with jewels from the throne sticking in the eyes of the Twinkle-Eyes, however the Princess Ponies were facing the opposite way and jewels stuck to their flanks, giving them their jeweled symbols (the dragons don't have these because the jewels bounced off their tough scales). After the Jewel Wizard was defeated, they escaped the cavern, hoping to find Applejack, but she was gone. They then just kind of wandered around Ponyland for a year until finally coming across Majesty, who took them and their dragon attendants in.

I really love the alternate Birthflowers (their colours are masterfully chosen) and May Lily is one of my favorites of the set.

Personally, for me it's TAF Buttons. I love unicorns. I love the Buttons pose. I REALLY love green ponies. But, while she's cute, her body is a 'pea soup' kind of green rather than a nice frosty/mint green or electric green, which personally sort of disappoints me.

Also, the first set of sea ponies. I not only love sea ponies, I am also a huge fan of this set's musical number 'Call Upon the Sea Ponies'. However, their colours are really forgettable, and they just don't leave a lasting impression on me.

Also, Steamer/Tracks from the Big Brother Ponies set. I like boy ponies (especially the Mountain Boys) but he just leaves me cold. Couldn't they have distinguished him from Slugger/First Base just a LITTLE more? You know, maybe make him a nice bright red or something, rather than that shade of pink? (Really, they should have had a wider colour palette for the first set of Big Brothers in general. I mean seriously, THREE blue ponies (and I LIKE blue ponies!), two pink ponies (both an eerily similar shade of pink) and only one yellow pony? Couldn't they have added a little orange, or red or purple into the set?)

They should have. Slugger woulda been more baseball if he were white with red stripes. I like him, but he reminds me of a strawberry sundae. I personally love Steamer.

Quarterback, handsome as he is, could have been any number of colors.

Chief should have been a Police Pony, or had red and yellow in his mane, or red and blue. His colors and name scream Cop.

When it comes to Baby Bros, there's a lot of blue and pink too.

I 'm not crazy about blue Starhopper. That shade of yellow, just doesn't go with such a gorgeous shade of teal.
Agree with you on Starhopper. Her mane's (really cheesy, overly bright) yellow just completely clashes with her soft, calming teal body tone.

Now I'd really love to see someone do a white and red Slugger...

Personally, I'd love to see a green Quarterback with a white and red mane (since his symbol is a football, it's only natural to make his body colour emulate grass or astroturf), and because the combination would be a unique one, unlike Quarterback's ACTUAL colours (although he's a real nice guy).

I would also like to add SS Heart Throb. I really love pegasi. I like so-softs (although I do think some ponies look much better without flocking). However, SS Heart Throb's body is a really weird kind of 'strawberry milk' colour that puts me off a little (don't get me wrong, I think that the regular Heart Throb is perfectly fine) Maybe it's just that I've seen ones with rough flocking (come to think of it, I've never seen SS Heart Throb in mint condition). But... yeah.

I can understand the dislike of Mimic (her colours and pose are a hit-and-miss kind of thing: some people love them, others hate them). Personally, I say she deserves the adoration. They're really aren't any TEs that I consider objectively to be anything worse than 'good', just to show how amazing I believe the set to be.

Also, UK Magic Star. I enjoy yellow ponies, and I enjoy Magic Star's comic personality (she's a wise pony with a huge array of magic and knowledge), but when I look at her in that pose, I don't think 'wise and magical pony' at all (personally, SS Magic Star's pose fits her graceful comic personality way better).
