Pony Corral / Re: What’s your pony Instagram name?

I only made one recently, so this thread is helpful for me to find everyone to follow. I had intended to make one earlier, but someone took aintnobuffalo! I have used that name for a long while in a lot of places and never had it taken, so I wasn't sure what to do! I settled on @mlp_aintnobuffalo just a couple of weeks ago.

I don't have Hocus Pocus to compare, but it looks gorgeous.

Lovely paint details and colors!

Looking at your post in modify mode, I think your issue might be that you aren't using the jpeg location as the link in your img code, you're using the webpage location for the post as the link. If you right click the image from the imgur post and select "view image/open image in new tab", it will bring you to the website for just the image rather than the whole webpage/post. Alternatively, when you upload a post, you can select "get share links" in the upper right corner of the picture and copy the BBCode option.

That means instead of:
https://m.imgur.com/kyIgi6z

You use:
https://i.imgur.com/kyIgi6z_d.jpg

The second is the image itself.

I know that sounds complicated, but hopefully that helps?

What glue do I need to stick hair wefts on doll heads. I’m thinking of using my hot glue gun to stick them
Hi I'm just being to think about doing customs, I haven't been able to find the answer to this question, how would I remove the name head from a head?, for a full rehair situation
Thank you in advance for your reply, :)
Melissa
You may have more luck starting a new topic: this post mostly focuses on the types of hair and related matching discussion around enchantress41580's Retro Doll products. You may find more answers/response by starting a separate thread.

Regarding being new to customs, check out this thread; http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,283445.0.html

Regarding glue: I'm not the expert here, so your own thread may get you more help (also try a doll board). Some hair or doll heads will melt with hot glue, and it would be very messy. If rooting isnt an option, check out tutorials for making doll wigs.

If you haven't had luck yet, maybe posting on Swap Talk could get additional interest.

I think it's a little too warm/red of a purple and needs more blue tones. Here's a pic, hematite is on the bottom, an unnamed random blue I was sent with a random 10 lot is on top. Neither are quite right, sadly, but by the eye hematite looks a lot closer than it does by photograph. I might mix the two... or just pick one since they aren't crazy off color.

(I also compared Sour Grapes but it was way off; too bright and saturated)

What about a gold color? Maybe with some tinsel? I feel like mint green and gold go well together. Do you have pics of the ones you already have? Sounds like a fun group!

I also think for small marks, a filler as cookhuman suggesyed rather than clay is more ideal. Air dry clay can work, but with how much it can shrink or how people have complained about the brittleness, I usually avoid it. Apoxie sculpt seems to only be purchasable online, but people usually speak highly of it. You can use baking clay on ponies. It makes some people nervous, but I've never had issue. With the G1s being thinner, they can get wobbly. But, they  harden back up like they were before. With baking, there is no shrinkage, you can mix colors, and there isnt as much of a weight issue. You might find it helpful to experiment on a different pony to see what method you like best.

I think the colors you chose or kingluke's are both good options. I would go with unlucky clover over lucky clover, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the options listed.

If you are talking about the brushable sized Celestia, you can remove the wings. That's how you get at the tail, actually. You can use an xacto knife to carefully cut around the seams. I would recommend against it since its a lot of work for a little reward, so I would paint them while they are still attached to her and glue in the tail.

I wonder what the black marks could be if they don't come off with nail polish remover... Did you use a high grade remover or leave it on for a couple of seconds? If so, I wonder if it must be some sort of dye like from a marker rather than a surface stain. You could potentially lightly sand the stain to see if it goes deep. If you end up needing to paint over the mark, I would recommend doing thin layers of pain to minimize brush strokes. You could sand your paint a little with very find grade sandpaper; I've done this effectively at times, but the paint comes off very easy, even with very fine grade paper.

To make more plugs, use a push pin or a tack to push through the plastic where you want a new plug. It's fairly simple and effective.

Let us know how it goes!

Lovely! The all blue mane really highlights her lovely color and symbol.

Sounds like fun. I love doing panels, but I'm so far across the sea! Good luck in your search. Let us know how your event goes. :)
