Pony Corral / Re: Fakie Appreciation Thread!

I just got my first fakie! Or, at least, the first fakie I've ever wanted to keep.

Totsy!

She's not so pretty on the other side but I don't mind. I won a lot of ponies recently and I think I was more excited for Totsy than any of the Hasbro ponies. :P

I also ordered some funny blind bag fakies off eBay, but they won't be here for a while yet.

Rarity before anyone. :silly: But I know she's been confirmed so I'll take her off my list...

Princess Celestia
Princess Luna
Princess Cadance
Shining Armor
Cheerilee
Hoity Toity
Photo Finish
Sapphire Shores
Sunset Shimmer
Flash Sentry
Granny Smith
Coco Pommel
Blossomforth
The Cakes
Cloud Chaser and/or Flitter
Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon
Lily Blossom (Not a show character (yet) but she has a brushable, a McD's toy, and a unique design, so why not?)
And any of the breezies!

And I'll tentatively add Bulk Biceps to the list because I adore him, but I am wary as to how he'd look in 3D.

Those are the only ponies I would consider buying and tbh I'd prefer most of them as brushables if they don't have a brushable version already.

I too can relate. :( I've had this happen to me more times than I can count. Just recently I had somebody win a lot then message me two days later to say 'nevermind, don't want this anymore'. On the one hand I'm glad they told me instead of making me wait around to see if they would paid. On the other hand... why did they bid? They at least could have apologized.

Hopefully things work out a bit more smoothly for you!

Pony Corral / Re: Confusion about WLF
« on: April 07, 2014, 03:56:52 AM »
Someone around here will know better than me, but Mighty Fine MLP products are licensed by Hasbro. This includes fan made designs. I have never made a design for WLF so I don't know what their contracts are like, but I imagine they have to sign an agreement saying that WLF/Hasbro now own the design and can use it for their own purposes. A lot of the designs originally used for t-shirts are rehashed onto art prints, wallets, bags, and even vinyl toys, and sometimes sold in retail stores like Hot Topic (although I don't see this as often as WLF's "original designs" using vectors and the like).

I doubt Hasbro would have let WLF amass such a collection of MLP merchandise if they weren't getting something out of it!

Pony Corral / Re: Favorite G3 character

I really need to sit down and watch all of the G3 specials. I've only seen A Very Minty Christmas and bits and pieces of the others so I don't have a good idea of the characters.

But from what I've seen my favorites are Rainbow Dash, Wysteria, and Minty.

I'm also waiting on Rarity so I don't own any myself, but their plush are beautiful looking imo. :) They're my favorite after Build-a-Bear. And they are definitely official!

Lots of fun stickers here!! Cats and dogs and sheep! I'm particularly excited about the glittery stickers in the middle -- monsters, birds, and misc. animals. Also Marie! That is some of the cutest Marie art I have ever seen.

Lots of square vending machine-esque stickers which I have always been fond of for some reason. I'm very excited about the Frozen stickers!

I was so happy to see these! A ton of vintage Sandylion fuzzy and pearly stickers. I kept coming across these when hunting for stickers for my swap partner and they brought back all sorts of nostalgia. It was a struggle not to buy some for myself as well. :P Lo and behold I got some of my own, and a whole bunch, too!

Pony extras! Rarity will fit perfectly in my army. Fluttershy is for my bf I believe! He will be happy to have her!!

The bottom of the box was lined with incredible sweets. :joy: They didn't last long after this photo was taken before I dug in.

And my partner was... Naraya! Thank you so, so much! I feel positively spoiled.

Wow!! I'm surprised by how well the McDonald's ponies cleaned up. Their hair looks beautiful! Fantastic work.

Did you straighten it with a flat iron or did you just brush it out?

I soaked their manes in deep conditioner for a day, rinsed and dried, then brushed their manes out the best I could. From there I used my flat iron the the lowest setting possible and then straightened it out really fast so the hair didnt try to melt. My straightener is Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium, its teally small and thin which is great for ponies!

Oh, cool! Thanks for explaining.

Good idea! I don't have an etsy shop anymore, but I will go through and favorite everyone's shops. :)

I do have a storenvy though:

I sell mostly toys and occasionally beaded keychains/jewelry.

Pony Corral / Re: Mlp tales
« on: April 03, 2014, 05:56:25 PM »
I love Tales. Right now I'm hunting for the toys.

I don't think the "style" is all that different from the original G1 cartoons and specials, so I never understood that argument. It was the story and setting that changed, as others said. It reminds me much more of Friendship is Magic in that the ponies are standing in for what would otherwise be human characters; anthropomorphized I guess is the right word to use here. And like FiM, it was centered on the same group of characters.

It doesn't take much research to figure out that Tales is G1 inspired, launched a G1 set, and is tied to other G1 media. Those who insist it's G2 just don't care enough about pre-gen MLP to do their research as far as I'm concerned.

Pony Corral / Re: What is WeLoveFine doing with the MLP Vinyl line?
« on: April 03, 2014, 05:38:38 PM »
They are most definitely not professional.  I suspect you will be seeing more fan based stuff not less, because then they don't have to pay an artist they can get the designs for free.

Honestly their practices make me think that a bunch of 17 year olds are running the place.

In fairness, I do think think they pay the artists. I'm not sure if it's a one-time deal ("We'll pay you $X to use this design for as long as we like") or commission per shirt sold though. Some of the artists I know of who have several designs up on WLF would not give up their work for free/"exposure", so I do believe there is monetary compensation, I just don't know how much or how often.

I'm not much for geeky t-shirts these days but in my late teens I would have been all over WLF had it existed like it does now. They sell some really neat products and I love how artistic the designs can get. Far better than the "clip art and meme phrase irrelevant to the franchise" shirts I was used to seeing. But some of their practices are just beyond me. I've ordered from them before and have mixed reviews, but most of my issues come down to shipping. I once ordered a pair of pajama bottoms for a friend for Christmas and it took them an entire month to ship. A week after I ordered them I saw the same pair at Hot Topic, so I knew it wasn't one of those items they have to print individually at their warehouse or w/e they say they do; it's mass produced. If I had known I could just get them at HT I wouldn't have bothered.

And then of course there's this mess. Even if they made a figure I really liked the look of, I don't think I could bring myself to order from them at this point.

Pony Corral / Re: Wave 11 Blind Bag Speculation
« on: April 03, 2014, 01:59:46 AM »
An Equestria Girls set (Sunset/Flash/PTS) seems most likely for those guys, but they could always show up in later blind bag waves too. Other mini figure set ponies have like Mr. Cake and Gilda. And probably a 'Party Ponies' set with Cheese Sandwich, Pinkie, and... idk, maybe Rainbow? It was her party. Or maybe they'll surprise us with someone non-mane six.

I'd say a Wonderbolts Academy set is likely if that is Lightning Dust, but she also shares Rainbow's mold who seems a shoe-in to be included in the set if they made it. But then again, Hasbro. I hope the rest are just regular blind bag ponies! It would be nice to have a wave worth hunting down again.

Personally, I can't wait for Flash Sentry. I've really come to like him. And all the FASHION PONIES! My favorite kind of pony.
