UGH so I can't believe it but we finally got Cats vs. Pickles in our newest shipment at our store! But... not what I was hoping for.  We got the blind bag Kittens vs. Gherkins, which I'm not going to collect, and then we got a box of LAST year's Christmas beans.  I don't know why that happened! Maybe there was just extra stock from last year at the warehouses and they decided to hold them til the next holiday season.

I guess it isn't all bad, because I will buy a couple that I passed on last year (reindeer kitty!) but I've been really hoping to find gold wave beans and chonks and still no luck.  :shakefist:

I know RAMC was the first My Little Pony special and was titled My Little Pony before it was edited for MLP n Friends, but does anyone remember what year it came out? I just checked my VHS and it says 1984.  Did I hear the BF guy say it was 1983?  Not that I'd fault them for being a year off.

Do you know if your VHS was the original release or the later release that came with the Firefly toy? I remember I had the VHS tape that came with Firefly and it was a later release, I had already seen the special many times on TV before I got it.

Just got a chance to sit down and watch the video, I'm so excited! I'm going to pass on the plushies, since that's not really my thing, but I do like the blind box little ponies. Even with the molded hair and brushable tail, which usually looks awkward, I think these are a very nice quality for that size of toy. They remind me of the Hallmark ornaments. And it's really cool to see merch of ponies who don't get much attention, like Starflower! The artwork for the Rescue at Midnight Castle box is really amazing. I hope that is similar to how it looks when it's released to the public. I think $19.99 is very fair for a set of 6 small toys. Spike is so adorable, even if he is bigger than the ponies. XD

Part of me is disappointed that Amazon seems like the only place willing to work with Basic Fun, and part of me is relieved, because it will mean I will be able to order them and not have to stop at 5 different Targets looking for if any of them are carrying them lol.

I am honestly glad Basic Fun is jumping into the blind box craze. Although as a collector it's a little frustrating, and I'm sure parents are annoyed that this is how so many toys are presented these days, I think it will really help Basic Fun make some money so they can grow and expand.

I watched the Care Bears part of the video too, they're pretty cute! Though I won't be collecting them. (Man, they should give us marbled ponies like the marbled Care Bears! Lol. I'd snatch those up.) Loving the Eco-Love Care Bears made with 100% recycled materials!

One of these things is not like the other~

I adore when they mimic other animals. The peacock guy is so pretty! Clawed Monet is definitely my favorite tho. Those soft colors, yum!

One of these things too~ hahaha

Sorry I'm not very good at taking photos. But I do love these little guys! I take them with me to lunch with friends, who regard me with fond exasperation. XD

One of the stores in our chain closed so we got sent a ton of stuff that had been sitting in their back warehouse. I don't know if this cutie is old and/or rare, but if anyone wants her I can pick her up at cost plus shipping. :) she is a cutie!

Omg this is so awesome!!! I haven't bought G1 merchandise in years but I will definitely be buying these. They're so gorgeous!!

You know, I can only assume they're putting out this set specifically because of the G1 pony collecting community. We are the ones who talk about this set, share the production art, make our own versions, and generally keep knowledge of these ponies alive. It's so awesome to see something new for us!

Haha I had the same thought, I saw a ton of the 'special' blue stripe ones on ebay for cheaper and I thought "I thought those were going to be hard to get or something?"

The distribution for this brand is definitely strange. I am used to companies saying "series 1" or "series 2" for their sets, especially if it's like a blind bag assortment. But this company goes with colors. Then you throw in that sometimes they're loose and sometimes they're in blind bags. And there's different sizes and some characters you can get different sizes and some are unique to a certain size. Plus each wave has like 50+ unique characters... And then they added dogs and donuts and bears (oh my!) it's all just crazy! Partly that's why I like it, but partly it's really annoying. XD

How are we doing lately, C vs P collectors?

I'm sad because I STILL have not seen any gold wave in my area. I've checked Target and Walmart, and I've seen nothing. And we didn't get them in the store where I work, either.

So I caved in and bought a bunch of them off ebay. ^^; I hated to pay $10-12 for each bean, but some of them are so cute, I just couldn't resist! I got the Claude Monet kitty and the peacock and the Dory fish... hmm... now that I think of it, blue is obviously my favorite color when it comes to C vs P. ^^;

I'll do a little photo shoot when they arrive! I've been seeing some new chonks appearing on ebay, too, so it seems like the gold wave chonks are out there now. Or soon will be. I just wish I could find them in stores! Hunting on ebay is fun, but for a collector, part of the thrill is the thrill of the hunt. I like going to different stores and seeing which ones I can find. It's sad when I can't find any of them anywhere local. :(

Rainbow Curl ponies! I love the soft pastel colors they got and they still felt like MLP's to me. Like I could see them appearing in an episode without standing out too much from the others.

Oh wow! Okay so I guess I was always kind of aware of this brand, I see them sometimes at Michaels Craft Store and Target, but I had no idea there was so much variety! I thought they just did horses, basically, but they have beautiful realistic animals of all types and fantasy too!? That's so cool!

I'm really loving that water mare and fire stallion, and their cute foal (though I wish the foal had some red in there somewhere).

I just did a quick Google search and there's SO many! So much more fantasy than I realized. Wow!

The pricepoint is a little higher than I would expect for toys that size. Which I guess will keep me from going overboard if I start buying these. XD But why are they so expensive?

Yeah I saw one at Taget too. I would say Cats Vs. Pickles is not one of the most popular collectables, but the fans are some of the most dedicated.

They sent us another box of blind bag blue chonks at work, but no beans. I want gold beans!

Ooooohhh lucky! Congrats on finding the golds! We haven't gotten any where I work, we still have some of the blind bag cats and dogs in Chonk size. I'm hoping they'll send us Gold Beans, but nothing yet.

I'd ask you to grab a couple for me if the shipping wouldn't be murder. XD Oh well, I'll start checking the Targets and Walmarts near me! They might have gotten them in before the store where I work.

Random story: I saw a tie-dye bean (gold wave) on ebay for $5 so I tossed in a bid, figuring I would definitely get outbid since most of the gold waves were going for $15-30. But surprise, I won the auction! So now I have a tie-dye chonk and a tie-dye bean to go with him lol.
