Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Sternenstaub
« on: April 06, 2012, 08:32:24 PM »
Sternenstaub runs an international pony forum. I won't post the link as I know we're not supposed to link to other pony boards, but if any of you would like to post there to get her attention and don't know the link, you are welcome to PM me. The name of it is Mein Kleines Pony Wichtelwelt. I would think she'd have to respond there, considering it's her board and all (or at least moderates on it, I can't tell for sure if she or Baby Sugarberry started it).

Edit: Nevermind. Sternenstaub goes by Baby Sugarberry there, same person, sorry for the confusion.

Oh, then I'm waiting on a package from her too.  I last heard from her Monday over on the Trading Post (Zaradess over there) where my transaction with her started.  I was planning on asking about tracking if it isn't here tomorrow since that will put it as just about one month since she said she sent it.

I've found that GoodWills are very dependent on what state/region they are in (completely different pricing and policies).  Around here, they are the best thrift stores for finding toys, but I've been to them in other states and found them to be rather pathetic.  I'm sorry to hear yours is going the way of no toys at all.   :(

My understanding of what babystarz posted may be different, but it's a similar vein of questioning....

If I get mail in a priority box in the mail from someone, and turn it inside out/slap brown craft paper on it/whatever, is it okay to reuse the box and use it to send stuff to someone else?

Unfortunately, the Post Office will still take issue with that even if the box has obviously been previously used.

Regarding priority boxes: I bought a playset online and the seller took one of the mailing boxes from the post office that are the same size as the medium flat rate priority boxes, cut it in half and paid exact priority mail postage , not the flat rate. Is that still legit ? I thought it was genius!

If it was an actual flat rate box - I don't know.  Since it is no longer the size the flat rate was meant for and since it still went Priority, it's probably OK but I would avoid it just in case they do have a problem with it.  If it was one of the plain Priority boxes, I don't see that there would be any issue with that as long as it still ships Priority.

Use First Class for anything weighing 13 oz. or under (there's also a size limit but that's usually not an issue for ponies).  I wouldn't use Parcel Post at all - the estimated delivery time may only be within a day or two of Priority but it can take much, much longer - nearly a month the one time I did use it, and it's known for rougher handling of packages.  For lighter weight packages, the difference in price is minimal anyway.  If a package is over 3 lbs. or over 1 cubic foot in size (triggers the "balloon rate"), I always check into FedEx and UPS as alternatives.  I do always check with the buyer to make sure those are OK by them since some people have trouble receiving packages through those.  This is only for within the US though - international is another matter altogether.

You've already gotten good advice about packing materials, but I'll add Sam's Club as another place to check for padded envelopes.  I also recommend not using Priority boxes for anything other than Priority shipping - if you get caught they will charge you the full Priority cost.  (Whether they'll actually check or even care is probably dependent on your local office though.)

One in the packaging is just under 2 oz. according to my scale.

I don't follow the prices on that mold much, but it's not a popular mold; so, I don't think any go terribly high.  The most recent Collector's Guide lists it as $28 for the horse and $39 for the complete set (fair - good condition).  A broken tail would definitely lower that even if it was repaired well.  I'll have to take a look at some current slaes lists and to if that seems about right for the current market.

ETA: A quick look found just the horse on MH$P for $20 and another for $18 (search "Performance Horse" and look for the ads selling multiple models/collections).

I don't know if these will have high enough resolutions for you, but here are a few links:

The MLP Wiki has backcard scans: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

There's also a member here that's creating a site with backcards: http://www.destinycalls.net/mlp

Then, I have several of my books scanned and posted on Photobucket.  Here's the link to the main scan album - each book has its own sub-album: Book Scans

Thank you! Those were what I was looking for! I wish they were scanned at a high dpi though... I might have to just figure out what backcards specifically I want and ask a member to scan them at high quality or buy some backcards myself.

Well, if you find any that you want where I'm listed as the donor, just send me a PM with the resolution you want them at, and I'd be glad to send them to you.

I remember my Great Grandmother having a small collection of those type of air fresheners.  No Care Bears that I recall, but just general figures of animals and maybe a couple of people - it's been years since I saw them.  I don't know if she used them as air fresheners and then kept them because they were cute or if she intentionally collected ones she liked to use as decorations.

Pony Corral / Re: ? About Megan & Sundance Pony Wear
« on: March 25, 2012, 02:29:42 PM »
I have both the Hearts and Candy set and Picnic in the Park set, and they are different shades of red.  I think the Picnic in the Park shoes are supposed to match Megan's while the Hearts and Candy ones are a bit lighter. (I could have those reversed though.)  Both of my sets are soft and flexible.

I don't have any other sets with purple bow shoes to compare with the Sweet Dreams set; so, I'm not sure on those.

I have one of those in my sales bin.  I'll get some photos up of her.  She's not vintage but I believe she's one of the earlier versions of the more recent line.  The copyright on her is 2007 Playmates.  She does smell lovely. :D

I've come across this one a few times, but I don't know if there are other versions or not.

breyer600, did you buy extra petal cars for the ones that did not come with one?

Yes, I keep coming across extras at GoodWill and decided to keep enough for everyone to have their own.  With all the different styles though, only two are actual duplicates.  I have three different styles of the translucent purple - the rest I've only found two styles in each color so far.

I completed my set last year (minus the international release of Zipzee who I don't consider different enough to track down).  Snippity Snap was the only really expensive one; none of the others ended up being more than $10 shipped as I recall.  I much prefer just about all the international exclusives over the US releases.

The bigger two are definitely the ones that came with the Soft Sleepy Newborns (still have mine from childhood).  I have no idea what the smaller ones could be from.

ETA: I'm not sure which brush came with which newborn though.  I have found contradictory information about it.  I currently have the blue assigned to Pink Dreams and the purple assigned to Sweet Dreams, but I had previously had those two reversed and have also seen the blue assigned to Hushabye instead.

Off Topic / Re: Vintage SSC fans, what is this?
« on: March 16, 2012, 12:05:51 PM »
Oh, I think I have that!  I wonder where it's gotten to.  I think it is a paint-your-own figure.  I vaguely remember a kit that gave you the paint and instructions on how to paint it (almost a paint-by-number).  I did find some pictures of ceramic SSC figures that include one in the same mold as this: http://www.strawberry-shortcake.net/CollectorsInfo/Other/CeramicFigures.htm (scroll down).

And here's an ended auction for an unpainted one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=260860831014&nma=true&rt=nc&si=NXfVFB89IBHZoQjB7g%252B2RiaY9YI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
