Pony Corral / Re: Fakie ID Please?
« on: February 24, 2013, 11:26:54 PM »
I think I vaguely remember having one of these as a kid when I lived in England, so maybe they were only sold there? Or maybe I just saw one? Either way I'm getting weird nostalgia feelings when I look at this pony!

I try to wear cute stuff on a daily basis, even if it's just jeans and a frilly top, some of my fancier outfits are on tumblr: http://dawn-valentine.tumblr.com/tagged/mine along with a lot of other weird stuff xD

Oh hi this thread, good to see you again! :P

39. A few boxes of old tea that went off in 2012 :yucky: - trashed (I also bought a nice new floral tea tin to organise the extra bags that aren't gone off, my kitchen shelf looks way prettier now)
40. A Swedish thriller someone gave my fiance as a christmas present - fleamarket

 "Whatcha gonna do when your Pteri's at home, crying all alone on the neohome floor 'cause he's dying, and the only way to feed him is to, go to the omlette but the omlette is gone"

I honestly have no idea what I'm doing (pretty sure I'm the only person who remembers this terrible song anyway xD)

Off Topic / Re: No Valentines Day posts yet? Ok - I'll start :P

Valentine's day was my birthday, so I spent the entire day cleaning the house to get it ready for the guests in the evening :P The party was great, we had fun, I got great presents and an awesome card (it was a really kitschy one of a bird dressed as a waiter, my friends know me too well!)

It was also really adorable that as well as my birthday gift (a sewing machine), my fiance also brought me a beautiful bouquet for V-Day when he came home from work, it was so cuuuutttee ^.^

I didn't have time to make anything for him yesterday because I had so much to do for the party, but I think I'll bake some cookies later :)

Woah! I had those little squirrels and some furniture as a kid, I got them at a fleamarket and never had any idea what they were! Thanks so much for making this thread, it's so awesome to see that there are playsets and raccoons from the same line :D

I should really change the time settings for my account, it's telling me I'm up early and it's 10:23am :P

Woah, Marlin, that's awesome! And very inspirational =D

Most of my work/drawing/eating/internet usage happens here, it's the corner of my fiance's desk. I'm hoping to get my own desk when we move into the new flat, this tiny space is cramping my style! :P

The Dollhouse / Re: Pinkie Cooper - New doll line!
« on: February 08, 2013, 04:06:49 AM »
I'm not really a fan of anthropomophic animals, (although I'd kill for a Max Ernst-esque bird/doll hybrid!), but I really like the direction they're going with the outfits.
They look cute instead of trashy and aren't smothered in glitter like most modern Barbie clothes, so I can't wait to see who they fit.

ps. I nearly spat out my drink at the "my mom was a human and my dad a cocker spaniel" comment, I hadn't even thought of that!

Off Topic / Re: Do you listen to music people kinda look at you funny for?
« on: February 05, 2013, 04:25:13 AM »
I get some funny looks when I tell people I'm in to metal (doom metal and death metal mostly, but some other sub genres). I don't look like a "metal head" at all, as I am a very small girl who usually wears pink :P
Same here  ^.^
I dress really cute/femine most of the time, so when I recently told a friend that I listen to Iron Maiden, she was like "Oh, I can only really imagine you listening to bubble gum pop type music" it was funny!

Although since I mainly listen to progressive rock, the usual response when I list bands is either *blank stare*, "never heard of them" or "oh right, I know Yes, weren't they the guys who sung "owner of a lonely heart"

I read an interesting quote on tumblr a while ago that's related this kind of thing, I think it's something we all need reminding of occasionally:

“You don’t have to be pretty. You don’t owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don’t owe it to your mother, you don’t owe it to your children, you don’t owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked “female”.”

I always try to think about this when I'm not feeling good about my looks. It's expected of women to be physically beautiful, and many consider it the measure of their worth (whether consciously or not), so I just find it a good idea to think about the fundamental falseness of this kind of thinking sometimes.

I have the translate button, I'm using Firefox with the language set to German. I'd quite like to turn it off though, since my native language is English anyway :lookround:

Sag einfach bescheid wenn es ein Weg gibt, die Funktion individuell abzuschalten :)

34. Empty bottles serving no decorative purpose whatsoever - recycled.
35. Board games we never play - to be eBayed.
36. Magic the Gathering sets that were too complicated for us - to be eBayed.
37. RPG books/boxes from old versions that no one plays any more - to be eBayed.
38. Box/extra pen for the Nintendo DS which we found whilst clearing out a cupboard... - to be sent to the person who bought the DS off us (so embarrassing!)

Hi, I'm Dawn and I love reading about everyone else :)
I'm 22 (23 on Feb 14th)  but I look like I'm 12.
I'm from Dorset, England but I live in Germany with my fiance (I moved over there to be with him).
I recently finished my bachelor's degree in art history.
My favourite colours are pale pink and turquoise.
I like cute clothes and I have a fashion/inspiration tumblr where I occasionally post outfits and my drawing/craft stuff (all under the "mine" tag if anyone's interested, lol) http://dawn-valentine.tumblr.com/
Apart from collecting ponies/fairy tail birds I like going to fleamarkets, being creative, reading, shopping, going for walks and going out with my friends.
I mainly listen to progressive rock (both 70s and modern) but also some 80s pop and prog metal.
I'm really shy, and I always try my best to be a nice, polite person but I'm always angered by anything I view as injustice.
