Pony Corral / Re: Who do you love?

My current favorites/stars of my herd are a mix of replacements from my childhood herd, ponies I'd known about but never had, those I only knew from the cartoon series but had never seen in person, those I never knew existed (including those who weren't sold in the U.S.):

Replacements of my childhood herd: Mirror Mirror, MM Windy, Blueberry Baskets, and Raspberry Jam

Ponies I knew about but never had: Strawberry Surprise & MM Cuddles

Those I knew about from the cartoon series but never had: Galaxy, Fizzy, Masquerade, Locket, and Salty

Those who were new to me as an adult collector: Speedy, Love Story, Painting Time, TE Bright Eyes

^Yeah, Paradise Estate actually ends up being on the smaller end of things as far as dollhouses in general are concerned thanks to being made for 4" ponies instead of 12" dolls.

And hey, if they can put out 2' guys who turn into bases for Transformers, I don't see why we can't get a reissue of the piece de resistance dollhouse of MLP. Especially since there's less labor cost with MLP playsets and Basic Fun actually tries to be space efficient with their packaging (unlike Hasbro in the '80s).

Agree with Taffeta that the kitchen and the school should be on the poll.

There's a few reasons I don't like them: The furniture is not pony-sized. Few of the playsets look big enough to hold more than a couple ponies. I like the idea of PE but it's too big and has the aforementioned furniture issue.
...So, you dislike how few of them seem to be big enough for more than a couple ponies at a time, yet dislike Paradise Estate for definitely being big enough?
I agree about some the furniture being ill-suited to ponies. Especially the chairs. Although at least with G1 you have Megan and Molly.

I'd  like to see a playset along PE lines that built upwards like an apartment building so as not to use so much floor space.
Then it wouldn't really be along the lines of Paradise Estate now would it? :P

Thing is, going for that sort of design restricts the play/display space available on each floor. And it would also require designing a new playset from scratch and cutting new molds, instead of digging out and refreshing existing molds from the 1980s. Although if you want such a playset... Are you of much of an arts-and-crafts bent?

No, I'm not craftsy at all. But yeah something thats between PE and the smaller sets in terms of size would be ideal, but I also understand it's unrealistic since Basic Fun is not creating new items.

Munchy.......She's one of my least favorites of the generation with her dumb name,  bland colors,  and symbols that just feel out of place with her setmates.

I voted Paradise Estate. I'm not really a fan of the original playsets though.
Oh? Why not?

I know the company is going for nostalgia, but I'd really like to see a new and different playset. I like the idea of Paradise Estate, but maybe something a little smaller along the same lines.
Something a little smaller wouldn't work as well, and would be very disappointing to most of us pining to get a hold of one. The whole point of Paradise Estate is to be a big house that can host lots of ponies at once; it even has a pool you could put the Sea Ponies in. Shrinking it would cut down on that ability.
Also, I'm pretty sure that these reissues are being made with the original molds as much as possible.

Whenever I mention I'm a fan of My Little Pony I feel like I have to add a disclaimer that I'm only into g1/the 80s and 90s ponies, just so I won't be associated with br*nies  :lookround:

I feel this especially true for male fans given how we're so likely to get regarded as brownies simply for being male. I grew up with G1, and have been a fan since the mid 80s. In fact I used to watch the original cartoon series in the morning before going to preschool.

I checked this out. Thanks so much for sharing this link. There's a lot of unique info on the Dream Valley site. Like I was looking at a page about the TEs and saw that Sweet Pop, Speedy, and Sky Rocket were introduced later than the rest of their setmates. I plan to go back and see what other new info I can find on there.

I didn't even know these existed.

I have no idea. I love most of them pretty equally.

Where is the option for all of them?

Haha, I'd probably chose that if that were an option! I've never been overly fond of the pony friends.

I share the sentiments expressed here.

Similar to what Taffeta said, it was my first instinct to choose Mimic, but I'm not sure that I'm not psychologically being influenced by the fact that she's hard to find/sought after/expensive. I might have chosen her anyway, even if I didn't know those things about her, just because she's green and there aren't enough green ponies...but I chose Bright Eyes. She is kind of weird, and I don't get the clock symbol thing, but I like her unusual colors and her pose and I feel like she's kind of an underdog, so I gave her my vote  :satisfied:

I also have to give props to Bright Eyes. She has a really unusual colour scheme, too, and I like that about her <3.

I second your sentiment about Bright Eyes.  She's unique and stunning.

I picked Princess Royal Blue. However, this is a tough one for me as it's pretty much a three-way tie between Princesses Royal Blue, Primrose, and Starburst.

Where's a "all the second set" option?  No offense to others, I just can't handle the tinsel forelock and mutated poses.  The green peg is pretty.  If I had her and could fix her forelock with regular hair and look ok, I might allow her in my collection.

I'm with you regarding the tinsel forelocks. I don't want any of this set for this reason. That said, I picked Princess Tiffany as my least favorite because I hate the white body with white hair. It's just so bland to me.

I've mulled this over repeatedly since I first saw this thread. I can't decide between Locket,  Fizzy,  Galaxy, and Speedy.
