I've been trying to finish my tea bunny collection so I'd be interested to see which one you have :)

Neat, thank you for the advice! :D
When you reset the hair, did you just go by eye from pictures? Im thinking i might have a bit of trouble with that...

I have to say, im so glad mine doesnt have green ear! That looks kinda horrible.

Yes, green ear is a pain. You can treat it but you have to be very careful, not all the suggested treaments work how you want them too. I think I may have seen a tutorial on how to reset the hair...I'll see if I can find it for you :)

this link was helpful but I didn't use any hair products other than shampoo in her hair. I also used a piece of hair from under her pontail to wrap around as the 'swirl' hair at the front of her head wasn't long enough to wrap around her ponytail and still have a bit of length.

Wow, you're lucky! I very lightly touched up my brunette swirl's eyelashes with the tiniest amount of acrylic paint. It can always be removed later as long as you don't put it on too thick! I also reset the hair for my girl. I lightly washed it with a tiny bit of non-scented shampoo, combed it and styled it - she ended up looking almost factory. My swirls ranged between AUD$70 - $110 when I bought them and they all had issues (green ear or missing paint....unset hair etc.).

What the?  I am rarely speechless when I see a custom, but woah, this custom is A-MA-ZING!  Claramel, you know I am a huge fan of your work and own one of your customs, but this is one of the most unique and beautiful customs you have ever done.  Are you willing to take on commissions for similar customs?  I made a St. Louis skyline custom a few years ago, on the diaper of a newborn cutie, and it is pretty darn sad compared to this.  Epic work, girl!  :)

Sure, I'm willing! I actually made an exact replica of one of my customs once because someone saw her and fell in love (she was already sold). I don't normally made duplicates but I like making ponies in a similar theme :)

Thankyou for all your lovely comments everyone, it's made my day!

Pandabear-chan has hit the nail on the head, I forgot to mention she's based off a song. It's great when you see something and it reminds you of your favourite song. Everyone keep an eye out for the custom she made me - it's gorgeous!

NoDivision - don't hide! You are so talented and I'm sure any sunset pony you create will be stunning!

Customs / Custom swap with Pandabear_chan, Sunset pony
« on: January 17, 2013, 07:29:52 PM »
Hello all,

Recently I had the fortune to do a custom swap with Pandabear_chan and her custom has now arrived!

First off I'll just say that Pandabear_chan is such a wonderful person to work with - she's always friendly and quick to respond to any questions. I had a great time doing this swap!

Pandabear requested a pony with a scene of New York at sunset. I airbrushed her to get the gradients, painted the city scene and used some glow in the dark paint so that the skyline shows in the dark. I also used some new hair from dollyhair (brilliant black) which has a gorgeous sheen to it - very black but shiny too!

I love her stuff - I watch her on deviantart too. She was one of the artists whose work inspired me to start customising.

I was lucky to snag this girl on ebay a while back...

My first customs were sealed with a varnish that made them sticky - the best I could do was to paint over the symbols with better varnish later on and try to get the rest off with acetone (staying clear of the paint work!) It's a good idea to buy some good quality sealer so you don't get that tacky feel. I use golden varnish or mod podge (gloss and matte) but I water both of them down.
