Aha! I was able to take photos in some better light, and updated the images in the original post.

That egg is really beautiful, SunPony! Every entry is also really nice! This is a tough choice!

Customs / Re: ~~ G4 Custom Plush: Star Hopper ~~

Hmm, the planning part took the longest time. Once I got all the supplies together, I'd say it was probably between three and four weeks. I limited my daily time on it to two-hour intervals so I didn't get frustrated or rushed.

Customs / Re: Royal Rose - does she have fading pink hair?

I would call the Royal Rose that I have to match Dollyhair's Pussycat shade of pink. I haven't had any issues with the color fading.

Customs / Re: I made over 600 custom ponies, do any survive? Lol

Glad to see some familiar faces!

Personally I've had less time to make customs, though I try to post some once in awhile. Like someone else said, a few per year instead of nearly one per month. Some of my projects have branched out into plushes and other weird things lol.

I don't believe I have any customs of yours, CSA, but I've always been inspired by them!

I noticed activity dropping sometime during MLP:FIM. I'm sure some of it is because social media platforms are sucking away the pony people, but I also feel like some of it is because G4 was The Current Thing so there was just less interest in the other generations of ponies and pony art. I remember back when I joined it was G1 and G3 customs posted in the forum, then about 4-5 years ago (where has the time gone?) most of the customs posted were G4. Now less people post in Customs, but the ponies displayed there are from any generation it seems, so I think maybe some of that added G4 fanbase has moved on.

I do miss when things were more active; I remember when posts would drop off the front page within two days. In the Customs forum, my post from December is still on the front page. I'm glad to see there are some old-timers here like me!

I've got quite a bit of free time now thanks to the pandemic, and back when I was into MLP:FIM I collected way too many plushes! :yikes:
But now I can do creative things with them! This time I chose my favorite G1 to convert into a G4, Star Hopper.

For the coat fabric I did some searching and at JoAnn's Fabrics found this amazing shade of green, with little glitter bits woven into it. I couldn't find a pattern for a G4 plush I liked, so I sewed the green sparkle fabric over the original plush form, trying to match up the seam lines.

The base was a pegasus pony, so I made a custom horn and sewed it in place. My sewing is pretty awful, but I am still quite proud of how the G1-style spiral horn turned out! Force of will!  :whoa:

I used leftover tinsel yarn and UFO patches from Star Hopper's older sister Moonblink (a similar project that I posted some months back). The patches were a lucky find on Amazon, and I changed the color of the patches as well as the pony's original eye color with fabric markers.

For anyone who needs extra sparkles in their life, I have to recommend this yarn - it's called Mary Maxim Starlette, and there are several different colors available on Amazon. Not a sponsor. I tried doing a Dutch braid to give Star Hopper some character. Now I feel like she has a sassy personality  :silly:
Check out the sparkles in that yarn!

The finished pony is not high enough quality to sell, but I really like how Star Hopper turned out anyway! And maybe posting this will inspire other pony experiments!

Off Topic / Re: Are You In Love? How Do You Know?
« on: April 23, 2020, 08:09:04 AM »
Significant Other? It has been challenging at times, but my husband and I are very much in love. We've been married four years, but together for fifteen. We first realized our growing feelings when we talked and realized we were both altering our normal schedules to spend time together.

Your Job/Career? Some jobs are better than others, but I've never loved any job. If its a good job, chances are it will be tarnished by having to work with someone unpleasant. People suck.

Your Residence? I have a love/hate relationship with my place. It's nice that its mine, my nest, and all. The location can be difficult, especially during inclement weather, and the local HOA is so aggravating I can't describe it. Here's an example of their idiocy: any live Christmas trees must be removed from the house by New Year's Day (!), yet you're not allowed to put them outside or in the dumpster, and the boy scout pick up day for trees is January 7th.

With Yourself? I'd like to say yes. But honestly, it depends on my mood heh.

How Do You Know When You're In Love? You know its real love when you are Furious with them over something, but find that it doesn't diminish your affection for them and you can work through the problems together.

Off Topic / Re: Spring cleaning time again... O_O
« on: April 23, 2020, 07:58:12 AM »
I've got a big reorganizing project that's been sitting around for longer than I want to admit. When my husband and I last moved houses, we put some of our stuff in storage. Now its out of storage, but still in boxes, and we have too much stuff and need to look through it all and get rid of some, find places for others.... oi its a headache and husband is still working through the pandemic, so I'm on my own for this heh. It's such a big project that its hard to find the energy to begin.

Any tips on how to Muster Energy?

Pony Corral / Re: Which ponies do you think could be family?

In my pony herd, I have Daddy and Baby Apple Delight, but no Mommy, so I've decided Applejack is the mommy in this family!

Pony Corral / Stinky plastic smell?
« on: March 09, 2020, 11:20:13 AM »
I picked up a couple g1 ponies secondhand, and they look to be in good clean condition, but the plastic is kind of stinky - I don't think its smoke damage, it just smells strongly like aged rubber/plastic. I haven't run into this before, at least not strong enough that it bothered my nose - anyone here have ideas on how to reduce the smell?

MLP Nirvana / PC on Spanish Mommy Sweet Celebrations?

Spanish Mommy Sweet Celebration is in very good condition. I bought a huge lot of mostly baity ponies, but found a gem in the mix and cleaned her up nicely!
