I would politely explain to him that Media Mail gets very few scans along the way. Also that it receives lower priority than any other service offered; i.e., EXPRESS, PRIORITY, PARCEL, even FIRST CLASS. This means it could sit weeks until they can comfortably get to it, this is why it is cheaper.

Unfortunately he is going to have to be patient.

My personal feeling on Paypal fees is that it's the seller's responsibility & buyers should only be asked to send as a gift/cover fees if the seller is picking up an item at cost (in store, TaoBao order, ect.). There is also the fact that it is against Paypal's Terms of Service to ask a buyer to cover them.

Anyways with that being said, this is one of those topics that is so overly-debatable because it stems from literally dozens of viewpoints with lots of supporting arguments for every opinion.

Pop-girl posted this many moons ago concerning it here on the Arena.

Before the Arena moved to it's new home we had an official thread posted warning members against paying with the gift option.

This is just a friendly reminder that any time you pay a seller and select the "Send as Gift" option, you have just opted OUT of ANY Buyer Protection services that Paypal offers!

Send as Gift= you may not file a claim! Ever!

(not to mention it's rather dishonest and cheats Paypal of their cut- I know, they won't go bankrupt because they lost your $0.63 fee ;) )

You *may* be able to get around this with your credit card fraud department, but I do not know if this has been tried yet, so I wouldn't count on it.

When selling between friends of course it's your prerogative, just remember that once you send it as a gift, it's gone for good.

It is inappropriate for sellers to require buyers to ignore Paypal's Terms & Conditions and send payments as "Gift"s! Don't put your buyers in that awkward position, they would be fully justified to refuse to complete the transaction. Sellers who are members at the Arena, who take payments as "gifts" and then have an issue with a sale here will be expected to work with the buyer exactly as they would if the buyer had Paypal's protection in place.

I know this has all been discussed here before, but it has always been amongst other issues. Seems like it's time this get adopted into the common trading etiquette since it looks like the change to Paypal is permanent.

I hope we'll never see a disappointed buyer here who has no recourse because they tried to be nice and save the seller a couple dollars in fees.

Thanks for the heads up Gaspode

If you want to go ahead and post the gumtree ad and the sellers name that is perfectly fine. I have seen proof of the eBay sellers who's auction pictures were used so it's legit that the photos were in fact stolen. There is no need to post the live links to eBay at this time but if you want to add their seller ID's and folks can look for themselves that will work too.

I am going to bump this over to Trader Support for you  :)

In the meantime....
Is Ebay charging a percentage for shipping?  I have a seller, for something non-pony related, saying Ebay charged them a percentage for shipping to justify charging $8.00 for something that actually only was about $5.00 to ship.

Yes, as others have already mentioned eBay does charge you a FVF on shipping costs on top of charging a FVF on the item itself.

Well I could understand if it was a couple of dollars more.  But for them to have told me it would have been $16 to ship in a box, heck flat rate boxes were made for a reason.  I just wanted to make sure their line of 'ebay's charging me for shipping' was true.  I just now know never to buy from this seller again, cause the biggest most breakable item wasn't packaged properly.

If your item was not properly packed then this is a whole different story. What was the item you bought and what approx. did it weigh. If I know this I will be better able to help you on what was a reasonable price for shipping?

Since she arrived safely I most likely would leave positive feedback and perhaps send her a polite message saying while the doll arrived safely that you would recommend the next doll she sends out have a bit more of adequate packaging. A plain envelope is not adequate packaging in my opinion. Anyways I would say ding her stars for shipping and handling but since it was free, it is an automatic 5 stars for the seller.

Just out of curiousity was this doll loose or MIB?

I'm really happy that you finally got your end of the trade  :bigups:   - but I also think that you ought to leave honest feedback too to let others know your experience.
Absolutely leave honest feedback.  ;) It does not have to be mean and hateful, perhaps saying trade partner had personal issues and trade was late. But that you did receive it in the end and are happy.

I am pretty sure I found the auctions and you most definitely have reason to be concerned.  :(

I would maybe shoot her another message and give her 24 hours to respond. If you hear nothing from her then I would file an item not received dispute and report her here for being a non-performing seller ...http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/report-trading.html

The thing unfortunately is nobody , not even ebay can force the seller to ship the item to you..............They probably didn't get the amount they wanted from your sale, so stupidly did the wrong thing and relisted. Hopefully this is not the case for your sake and it's simply a mistake on her part. Please keep us posted as it seems she has quite a few pony things listed.

*edit to add* She also has relisted a few big brother bandanas that sold recently

Is it possible they had two of the same items? I only ask because without knowing exactly what the items were, it's hard to tell exactly why they relisted right away? It's definitely something to be worried about though

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Is tracking available to Denmark?
« on: June 13, 2015, 01:45:11 AM »
This is from USPS's website.

Quote
Effective June 12, 2014, the Postal Service™ is temporarily suspending Electronic USPS Delivery Confirmation International™ service to Brazil, Denmark, France, Gibraltar, Italy, Luxembourg, and Portugal because recent performance evaluations conducted by the Postal Service for these destinations are not satisfactory.
Consequently, we are revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) Exhibit 232.122 and Exhibit 252.22 to indicate that we have temporarily suspended this service to these destinations.
Nonetheless, copies of the customer-generated electronic combined shipping and customs label (PS Form 2976, Customs Declaration CN 22 — Sender’s Declaration) will continue to include the Post Exprès logo and the markings “E-DELCON SERVICE.” The continued use of these labels will make it possible for the Postal Service to evaluate scanning performance at these destinations. When scanning performances at these destinations reach a satisfactory level, we will make subsequent announcements and IMM revisions regarding this service to these destinations.
Until that time, customers should have no expectation of tracking information (such as the date and time an article was delivered, or that a delivery was attempted but not completed). Customers who need tracking information to Brazil, Denmark, France, Gibraltar, Italy, Luxembourg, and Portugal should purchase Global Express Guaranteed® service, Priority Mail Express International® service, or Priority Mail International® service (but not Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes and Small Flat Rate Priced Boxes).

In short without reading all that, it seems that while they did suspend it, they are still scanning packages to these destinations to see the performance level. It seems that while the USPS was guaranteeing packages to be tracked to these destinations, the respective countries postal services were not following through on scanning the items when they arrived.   So therefore USPS just can not guarantee it will be tracked for sure until those countries meet a satisfactory level.

I have shipped many times to Denmark with First Class International and it most always has been tracked. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you are worried though the only real tried and true tracking is if you ship Global Express and it is beyond expensive  -_-
