Off Topic / Re: What is your favourite food?
« on: September 04, 2023, 12:52:56 AM »
Idk if it counts as a food per se, but buffalo sauce! I love absolutely anything that has buffalo sauce on it. My favorite I’d probably Frank’s Red Hot, it’s got a good kick without it being too spicy imo. It’s also neutral enough to go well with any food!

As for actual food, maybe chicken! It’s super versatile and relatively healthy so I eat it very often. I know some people on diets say they get sick of it, but I’ve never had that issue! I could probably eat chicken every day lol!

That’s awful Beth, I’m so sorry that happened so close to you! :( These mass shootings are even scarier when they hit that close to home. It surreal to think going for an everyday shopping trip could turn violent in the blink of an eye.

I’m itching here with you over bugs in the house BC! I was swapping out my normal decor for Halloween decorations today (too early? I don’t think so lol!) and as I was moving everything around I was keeping an eye out for roaches since they do tend to get in the house this time of year and I was moving around a lot. I thought I managed to get everything swapped out bug free and as I was turning off all my lights to leave the house I saw a HUGE dead roach over by my dining room table. Arrggghh I swear they keep showing up in new areas! Luckily I don’t see them TOO often but I’ve seen more than I’m comfortable with over the past couple months. I have no clue where they might be getting in. At least they’re always dead, but still, gross! I might ask my dad to come over and clear that one. It’s in an awkward spot to top things off and I don’t wanna get that close to it.

She turned out so awesome! I also love the pink and brown combo, it’s kind of underrated! The sculpted details are absolutely beautiful! Bummer some of it fell of during transit, but it happens sometimes when there is that much detail!

Ponyfan, I feel you on the frustration with your dad not following Google Maps! My dad does the exact same thing and it drives me nuts! He is ALWAYS questioning the route it provides and ends up going a different way. Like if you think you know better why even turn the app on?! Admittedly I have been in the car with him where it sometimes gives him some wild directions. Mine never does that. I kinda think the app does start to mess with you if you disobey it enough.

I just found out the call center I work for will no longer be 24 hours and they’re moving my shift back 1 hour to account for the new closing time. They have made it so I’ll no longer be eligible for my 10% shift differential for working late. :( I’ve been fighting tooth and nail for the last couple years to stay on the night shift and finally got back on after I was displaced a few months ago. I guess that was a losing battle since it just won’t exist anymore.

Sometimes I think working for them is like staying on a sinking ship. It seems like every year they trim back on staff little by little. So far they’ve always managed to place everyone somewhere else when we do get displaced (even if it’s a place we don’t really want to be), but I wonder if at some point there just won’t be positions for us to be displaced to. I was looking at jobs in my area tonight and there is really nothing else that I’m qualified for that pays my current salary. I hope I can at least hang on there until I finish school.

I’ve been doing better about going to the gym lately. I’m going to try and keep it up! I’ve been doing lighter exercises than usual so that it feels more “fun” to go. Last night when I went the gym was playing The Lion King in the movie room, so I actually did exercise for close to an hour!  Even though I was exhausted I wanted to see the end of the movies, so I kept going lol!

Oh wow, I’ve seen those stampers before but I’ve never thought about using them on ponies. Super cool! Not sure if I’m looking at the patterns right, but I think my Nova has a different body pattern than the ones pictured here. I’ve noticed her head does NOT match her body stripes which drives me slightly insane. They match a little better when I turn her head a little past where it should be. Here are some pics of her:

Thanks for revitalizing this Starflashbaby! I’ve been slacking a little, and this thread does always help motivate me to work harder so I’m glad to see it again! :) Sounds like you’ve got some good goals outlined!

I use the LoseIt app. It is free, but I personally do have the paid version because it has more features that really allow you to easily log your food and keep track of your goals. I honestly don’t remember what I was missing in the feee version though, I have had the paid version for so many years that I’ve forgotten what the free one is like! They do sometimes have deals around new years where you can buy a lifetime subscription which is what I did. If you think you will be using it for a year or more it may worth it! :) Based on what LoseIt says I am indeed still on track to hit my goal weight in November. It feels like I haven’t lost anything, but looking back at where I was a couple months ago I guess I have lost and steadily kept off about 3 pounds or so. It may not seem like much, but I’m fine with taking it slow!

We recently had a health and wellness meeting at work where we set some health goals for ourselves. Not that I think my boss actually cares if I stick to my goal LOL but I’m going to try and be faithful to it! I really need to start going to the gym again. My goal is to go at least 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes. I keep trying to get back into going but it’s really been a struggle.

My complaint of the day is TRAFFIC! I was feeling the full moon bad all day today.

First I went out to get my car washed and get some gas. I decided to hit the gas station that’s a little closer to me and not attached to the gas station because I have a gas card that gives me a discount that works at that station. Before I even made it out of my neighborhood, there was a minor accident in the exit out onto the road I usually take, so I went an alternate route. There was road work on the main road I was going down, but mostly it was backed up going in the other direction, so no big deal! I figured I’d go back home using another street.

When I went to turn right to hit the street my gas station was on it was blocked off by the police. I thought maybe it was just due to the roadwork and turned into another gas station that just happened to be on the corner. I figured I could get around the blockage by going out of that parking lot onto the street. It was the same chain as my gas card, so I was able to fill up there. There were a lot of police cars parked at the station, but once again I thought they were off duty from the road work and didn’t think much of it. When I went to leave though, I noticed all the exits to the side road I needed to get on were blocked. I started then to realized maybe something was wrong on that road.

I decided to go down another side road that is usually really quiet to get to the car wash, but traffic was all backed up there as well and I noticed once again all the side roads leading out to the street I wanted to get to we’re blocked. There were emergency vehicles all over and I could see they were continuing to arrive up ahead. I decided at that point whatever was going on there must be really bad, so I just turned around and went to a different car wash that wasn’t too far away. Since I had such a poor experience just trying to get through any of the side streets to get to the other road that lead to home, I decided to tough through the roadwork on the way back even though I knew it was all backed up. When I was trying to merge over into another lane as the road was narrowing, I realized the car wash had pushed in my mirror on the passenger side, so I couldn’t even see to merge. Thankfully since the traffic was moving so slow I was able to manage.

When I was in the parking lot for a store I was at there was some lady screaming and fighting with some dude in a truck. Idk what they were arguing about, but it seemed like one of them possibly bumped the others car with a door or something. Luckily the truck guy just left so the fight stopped.

Later, when I was coming back from dinner I ran into two more accidents right off the freeway. One looked really bad, the car had somehow managed to skid off the road, go through a guardrail, and start to go down a hill. People just drive too fast here! Most of the accidents I saw seemed like they could have been prevented if everyone just slowed down a little!

I did find out all the emergency vehicles and road closures were not due to an accident, but because of a fire that broke out at some commercial building in the area. Apparently the roof collapsed and a few employees were hurt. I hope they are all okay! :(

Sorry the Facebook groups are proving to be such a struggle Ponyfan! I didn’t realize there was so much uh….elitism around these Diamond painting kits. That’s crazy! I say just buy what you enjoy! Most kits are pretty good quality imo, the only bad sets are the ones I’ve tried from Amazon.

I think you should spring for the light box too! :) I know my eyes can start to hurt after a while working on these, so I do think that would help.

These are the first two kits I ever did! Extra image of the wolf and sheep on to show the size. That one was HUGE! It took me a few months to finish. It was my pandemic project a few years back. I’d love to get it framed someday, but the size alone makes it very expensive.

This is one of my Amazon ones

I mean, it’s okay, but the gradient in the sky is soooo clunky that it bugs me. That big white patch at the bottom has like, three different colors in it if you can believe it, but I personally don’t see any difference in the gems.

I got a pony one from Amazon for my birthday too. I thought I had a pic of it, but I guess I don’t, I’ll have to take one. I ended up doing a lot of my own design on that one because I didn’t like how it was turning out. I think I’m most proud of that since I “fixed” it lol!

That seems like an interesting PTO policy. I’ve heard about unlimited PTO, but I always figured there was some sort of catch to it. It seems like it would be very easy to abuse if there were truly no consequences to taking as much PTO as you want!

I went out to walk the dog at like, 11 pm (thanks, southwest heat dome! It’s too hot to go out any earlier) and heard like, this crazy demonic sounding voice out of nowhere. It sounded like someone accidentally blasting a car radio maybe, but there were absolutely no cars in sight and whatever it was didn’t sound like music, it was definitely spoken. It happened so quickly that I couldn’t make out what the words are, but after hanging around for a minute absolutely nothing appeared, so I got freaked out and just went back. I’m sure there is a perfectly logical explanation for it, but I hate hearing weird things at night when I can’t place what they are!

EDIT: annndd now a grasshopper jumped in my car. >_< I’m not sure if I got it out or not….guess I’m going to just drive with my windows down and hope it jumps out. I’m sooooo over summer right now. I’m ready for winter

Pony Corral / Re: Loungefly wallet concerns
« on: July 14, 2023, 01:32:41 AM »
Oh wow, that’s crazy to think that there could be fake Loungefly products out there! I know their stuff is pricey, but I never think of the, being like…bougie enough to counterfeit. Would you be able to return it? Even if it’s legit you should have to pay such a high price for something that isn’t printed right. I don’t have the exact wallet you have, but I have a good number of Loungefly products and they all have very crisp printing. I don’t think it would be too much to see if it can be replaced with a wallet that meets their quality standards.

Ohhh fun! I like seeing what makes “My Little Pony” actually map for everyone!

1.) G3
This is the generation I grew up with and my introduction to pony. The thing that really drew me into the toys was the variety and collectibility of them. I really liked their short little backcard stories. They have just enough of a snippet of personality that you could play with as a kid if you wanted, but they also left a lot of room for your own imagination. The thing I liked about the cartoons were the simple, low stakes stories. Once again, the ponies had a small glimmer of personality, but mostly they were still a blank slate for kid me to play with them as their own characters.

2.) G1
This was my introduction into the world of other gens, and the idea of actually collecting. A lot of the things I liked about G3 are present in this gen too - wide variety of toys, simple backcard stories, Tne animation was a little more high stakes, but still showcased a wide array of the ponies. Plus, they are the originals, so of course they should rank fairly high! :)

3.) G5
Despite some if its shortcomings, I genuinely feel like G5 is a slight return to form for the brand. This generation is FAR more media focused than I’d like MLP to be, but at least the stories are what I like from MLP - fairly low stakes and simple stories. Even though the main ponies do have very distinct personalities, I also feel like they allow for a kid to project some further personality onto them if wanted. The toys also suffer from a severe lack of characters, but they toys that are out are much better quality than a lot of recent ponies. Plus, a lot of the play sets genuinely seem fun for kids! I know I would have been allllll over the little poseable sets when I was younger.

4) G4
There is a lot I don’t like about G4 in hindsight, but I can’t deny that when it first came out it resparked my love for My Little Pony after I was kinda burnt out. FiM came out when I was in high school, and at the time I loved the more action packed, epic tone of opening episodes. Despite being aimed at kids still, it kind of felt like MLP grew up with me. I still adore the first season of the show for its unique cast of characters and simple storylines mixed in with the grander schemes. As time went on I didn’t like all of the “lore” and epic scale of the show. It just seemed kind of….goofy for My Little Pony after a certain point. The toy line also seriously was boring. Despite being around for nearly 10 years, my entire G4 brushable collection fits on a single shelf.

G2.) To be honest, this generation just never got a fair chance. They feel less like MLP to me just because of their slender bodies and really simple designs, but with G5 in the mix, that gap has been bridged a bit. I do remember having a G2 Ivy from McDonalds and playing the PC game, but other than that they just kind of lack the nostalgia that other gems hold for me. I still really love the, though!

G3.5)
I HATED these when they came out, and even though the toys have grown on me some, this was still a bad time for MLP overall. This is the generation that introduced the idea of a core cast and repeat releases and the dominance of Pinkie Pie as a mascot. To this day the look and feel of the toys, and especially the media around G3.5 just feel very juvenile. It seems like they were targeted more towards toddlers and preschoolers than young girls.

G4.5.)
Okay so I kinda dig G4.5, but they don’t feel like My Little Pony at all LOL! They seem like a spin-off of the whole brand, but that being said I really did like the overly simple chibi style of the animation. The shorts were frankly fun for what they were. I did appreciate the simplicity of this whole gen after the drama and fallout of G4 proper.
