OMG, how handsome is this fella?? I love his half-lidded eyes, and those eyebrows are to die for! (I also know how you feel with the colors; it's hard to get yarn to have a dark color, it just wants to fluff up into a pastel!) Great work on him! There's just really fabulous little details in there that put him over the top for me, like the blushing, and the subtle shading! Great work!!

Thank you so much!! The best yarn I have for custom hair right now is already pretty pastel and it definitely looks even lighter once you fluff it out >_<

Oh wow, he is FUN! His colors and symbol look great, and his expression just oozes personality. What a transformation!

Thank you! ^.^ I feel like customizing this fakie mold revealed it to have a lot of personality that its original design couldn't show off. Just look at its little smile!

Link to Gallery (if you have one, DA or elsewhere, or a thread on this forum): here's my art thread: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,398836.0.html

What are your specialities? (Only pony art, or anthro and/or people as well? Realistic or toony? Digital or traditional? Do you do animated GIFs or pixels? Anything else you can think of?) I draw people and objects as well, but I only post my pony art on here! I work with both traditional and digital, and prefer stylizing things instead of realism :) I'll probably do digital art for this exchange.

Brief Character Description (Hasbro/OC): Starsketch is a white pegasus with pastel-pink and sunshine-yellow hair. They have two star-shaped symbols on their nose. Their symbol is a magical cloud coming out of a pencil.

Character Reference Pic (a nice, clear reference, please! Links only - do not embed!): http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,398162.msg1807682.html#msg1807682 hope this works!

List three to six possible themes for your avatar. These can be motifs, colours, expressions/emotions, hobbies, objects, etc... pretty much anything!

1. stars
2. pastel colors
3. art/drawing
4. hearts
5. glitter

Anything you don't like?
I'm down for anything tbh!

Any other info?

Customs / Sunbeau - another fakie custom
« on: July 03, 2020, 07:00:50 PM »
I recently made another OC custom named Sunbeau! The name plays off the tradition Hasbro has of ending pony names with "belle". His colors are supposed to be darker, but I'm just working with what I have on hand atm so he's more pastel than I originally designed him ^.^

Here's how he started out. The fakie's tail was rooted really strangely, in a spiral to suggest a full tail without having that much hair.

Tbh he looks a little goofy to me but that's ok, I can always rehair and repaint if I really feel like it. :P

Hey there!  I have never really had good luck using Apoxie Sculpt for this application.  It is hard to get the clay to adhere in such thin coats or shallow areas.  If I am successful, it also requires too much clay and too much sanding.  For large areas, missing ears/limbs, etc., it is great though!

For small scrapes, nicks, chew marks, etc., I use gap filling hobby super glue.  This is the type of glue that is used in model making to fill gaps and seams from fitting pieces together.  It dries/sets slower than regular super glue.

Just put a little drop on (apply with a toothpick for more control), let it cure, and sand lightly.  I then buff the area with nail buffer to "shine" the vinyl back up.  Then dab a tiny amount of paint over it with a fine tip brush and maybe even hit it with a little Testors dull cote.  Good luck! :)

I'm not OP but I was looking around for an answer about filling in chew marks in particular and this is what I needed! Thank you!

Pony Corral / Re: Who is your current grail and why?
« on: June 23, 2020, 02:44:48 PM »
My grails are mostly unachievable or way too expensive, as grails tend to go :P

This Peruvian Bowtie variant is my loftiest grail, I just love everything about her. Her symbol and the fact that she's a unicorn. I'll probably never own her.

Others include Munchy - not surprised that her name already came up  I would also love to get my hands on any piggy pony for a price I can afford because I think their mere existence is just fascinating. If I could choose which piggies to get, it would be Algodoncete, Rayito, or Fresita since they're original character designs.

- recently-coined grails: The Rainbow babies! Rainribbon, Starbow, Brightbow, Sunribbon- as it's almost the end of Pride Month, I'm now obsessed with collecting these dazzling rainbow dearies.

I absolutely adore the rainbow babies!! :rainbow: :rainbow: I'd love to own them all, they're grails for me too :inlove: I'm such a sucker for rainbow.

Recently I had a dream that featured a Party Time nirvana variant with a yellow body and yellow eye gems. Tbh I kinda liked it.

And just last night a few weird ones popped up: a TAF Heartthrob baby and a Munchy pegasus baby. I had found them while thrifting and was so excited... and then I woke up, oof

She looks like she was wearing a diaper.

She is! She looks to be a fancy pants version of Baby Gusty ^.^

Thank you so much!!

No glitter this time - here's G2s Teddy and Tender Nuzzles :P

I find Teddy's backcard hilarious. She comes with a bear costume and her backcard says "Teddy puts on her bear fancy dress...and no one will know her!" like she just slips into a bear costume so that no one will recognize her and talk to her.

Pony Corral / Re: G1 Collectors who collect non-nostalgically?
« on: June 10, 2020, 12:28:11 PM »
I find it interesting that so many people said the large quantity of ponies was a key factor. As a younger collector I remember this was one of the things I found intimidating about MLP. Does anyone have a planned end goal for the collection?

I'm not a set-completer so I can't speak for any completionist collectors out there, but I think the large number of ponies out there just gives me more to know about the franchise and more designs to choose from when adding to my collection. I find the amount of different gimmicks in G1 fun, as well as the near-lack of design repeats compared to later gens that focused more on characters.

Tbh I don't have an end goal, but admire those who are more organized about it :P I just pick up ones that I like!
