Pony Corral / Re: World's Biggest Tea Party Aftermath?

shoot, that's a really good question. I find this sort of stuff cool, too-- not everything gets the same amount of attention in regards to preservation. I thought the full puppets were odd looking even as a kid, but I can appreciate them as impressive puppets and works of costume engineering. And a part of many a childhood.

Here's a good photo of her in the snow.

I love your style-- sweet and cartoony. Majesty looks magical, and Spike's face really makes me smile.

I'm sure you can tell by my icon that I like making animals. I've made a few cows, a goat, a reindeer... but here's one that's currently up for grabs on Etsy. Meet Critter the Caterpillar!

going for a touch of Long Furby surrealism. But I think they just turned out cute. :>

I have a 2007 repro Minty and my own rehaired World's Smallest. I took the latter with me on vacation recently for fabulous photos, and I know she made it home with me, but I haven't been able to find her since unpacking... maybe I'll buy another, inevitably find my old one as soon as it arrives, and start an army. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Welcome, Amelia! I'm with you, customizing and restoring is so satisfying. I've been working on removing stains with Salon 40 cream for the first time this month, I feel like a mad scientist wizard.

I think being expressive is just as, if not MORE important than being pretty. The Donkey Pose makes the pony look conversational, in my book. Love it.

Also it works really well in photo-based comics. I see you, Minty.

that is a holy grail of a weird thrifting find, I'm delighted. It's so specific.

Pony Corral / Re: G1 vs G3 Pony toys?
« on: January 13, 2022, 07:42:14 AM »
I grew up with G1 and G3 concurrently-- G3 came out when I was like 5 and I got into it pretty quick, but around 2006 I found out about G1 thanks to a DVD mixup and went nuts for it. I spent that time pouring over each in their own way, fixating on the new toy catalogs and kids' magazines simultaneously with collectors' websites and archived cartoons on proto-youtube.

I've always felt that while I prefer G1 in terms of ponies themselves (without much justification other than nostalgia), G3 was superior in terms of playsets and function. The hoof magnets were a genius way to add extra functionality to accessories, and the Celebration Castle and Crystal Rainbow Castle can smite Dream Castle quicker than the smooze ever could.

A truly memorable lady. Between her role in the first g3 cartoon and Kimono's Townhouse, she's an icon and a key fixture in my cultural development

Those tight curls with that pose remind me of old-fashioned movie stars. Such a good look!

Don't Look Up- On one hand, it's not really fair for me to review this, as I left ten minutes in to get my earbuds so I could just listen to podcasts while still spending time with my family. On the other hand, it was a movie that made me so annoyed and uncomfortable that I went to go get earbuds. It's a social commentary to be sure, but rather than being clever with it, it just reminds the audience how much the world sucks. When the humor is supposed to come from the situations the characters are in, and you're placing the characters in situations that are just uncomfortable reflections of real life hot issues... it just didn't work for me.

My dad loved it and compared it to Dr. Strangelove. That's his choice. 2/10.

(Sorry for negativity :P)

Pretty neat! I am a walker much more than a runner, and I'll be thinking about this as a motivation. I do like that medal.
