I got married just over two weeks ago, and need to get my wedding dress preserved! It was handmade by my stepmom, who put close to 300 hours into it and it's just perfect. The veil was my mom's, and I am sending that along to get preserved, too! With something so wonderful and sentimental, I absolutely need it well preserved! Anyway, it turns out that preservation is super expensive, and we're saving for a house now, so winning the preservation of my dress would be just AWESOME. I hope it's okay to ask you all here, but if could go vote for my dress, I'd really appreciate it! http://woobox.com/pc6thn/vote/for/999023(I also attached additional pictures (taken by one of the groomsmen's girlfriends) to tempt you all to my cause ) visitors can't see pics , please register or loginMy arrival- the carriage was a total surprise- Not expecting it at all! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginFirst Kiss visitors can't see pics , please register or loginDancing with my husband!

I hope I don't drag it too much off topic here, but for people who believe in Heaven, what do you think it is like? Some descriptions are just bizarre (24-7 singing?!), but it by definition must be different than here (I mean, I can't imagine there's too much in the way of war, crime, etc.) Just curious of what other people think- something I've always wondered about!

I'm Episcopal and largely attended church because I go to a very liberal church (priest is pro-evolution, pro-women's rights, pro-gay rights, and actually goes out of his way to help the less fortunate). I wouldn't go otherwise, just stay at home and do my own thing Also, I'm a scientist (Geology) so they aren't mutually exclusive. I go to church and believe the Earth is ~4.5 billion years old and that evolution is real Also, I believe animals have souls and go to Heaven. I also don't believe in Hell, which may or may not contradict my other beliefs LOL

One of the best books to movies...The Last Unicorn. So pretty and captured the magic of the novel. Yeppers, I have to agree 125% on this one! An adaptation that can do no wrong.
That's definitely one of the few that got it right. Glad I'm not the only one who has nightmares about her favorite books becoming movies!

I'm going to say four, because the other two seem confusing together and if it's confusing, it must be true! 1. I can stand on one foot and touch the other to my head. 2. The first words I could read were "crab legs". 3. I've been to Paris 5 times, but never visited to the Louvre. 3 was the lie, I've been to Paris 5 times, and the Louvre 3 Yay for having a fiance whose family lives near Paris!

Does anyone else get super nervous when they make movies of your favorite books? They're doing this to Antoine de Saint-Exupery‘s The Little Prince and I'm just absolutely terrified that they'll ruin it! To start, I'm sure he's excellent at directing, but I somehow just feel like the guy who did Kung Foo Panda maybe isn't a good choice as director for this, since it's a totally different feel.
If they make it CGI, I will cry. The illustrations are part of what is so iconic for this story!
Add to it that it's a fairly heavy and philosophical book once you get into it and I'm just scared they'll dumb it down and make it a cutesy little story with no meaning.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but I am having a hard time having high hopes!
Anyone else worry about this kind of stuff?

I haven't seen the episode, but I have read the books so I knew this was coming. I'm not really understanding the "HBO how could you do this?" comments I saw all over Facebook. It's kind of a critical part of the story, even though it is gruesome, and they really couldn't have toned it down, let alone left it out and remained faithful to the books at all! My understanding is that they left out some of the most gruesome parts (in the book, they, erm... remove and exchange Robb's and Grey Wind's heads).
I bet the people I saw on a wedding site who were having a GoT themed wedding have changed their minds...

I'm seeing used Easyboot Epics starting for $75 to 99/pair on Ebay, with new ones going in store for $63 and up per boot. The Davis ones look to go used for about $10-14 a piece. As a side note, I wouldn't call size 2 in the Easyboot a draft size. Looks pretty much like an average horse size to me: http://www.easycareinc.com/Our_Boots/easyboot_epics/epics_sizing.aspx

I think a lot of people watch sports on TV as something of a family activity. It's like the fun of going to the game without the expense. Additionally, some sports players do a lot of good in the community. I know that my towns baseball team and hockey team do a lot of charity events, which without their celebrity and money, perhaps they wouldn't be able to do (I do agree, however, that many of the players are payed too much, especially when compared to people like teachers, and especially the players who don't use their position to give back to the community).
I hate beer. All beer. I'm a geologist, beer is supposed to be my lifeblood. But I hate it.

If you like Lord of the Rings, perhaps try Jacqueline Carey's Sundering series, "Banewrecker" and "Godslayer". It's basically a take on LotR, but from the point of view of the traditionally "bad" side and gets more into shades of grey than LotR does, which makes it quite interesting as LotR tends to be very black and white.
