Wanted! / Re: I'm looking for A LOT! (G1 mostly, G2, G3 + non-MLP!!)
« on: February 18, 2022, 02:55:18 PM »
You may want to check out my website, The New Gray Mare. I'm currently working on uploading another 30 or so G1s and G3s. I'll be adding Monster High, vintage LPS, and a bunch of other stuff as I finish getting it restored. I'm currently going through a bunch of Barbie items. Basically, I've got five shows coming up in the next two months and am working my hardest to get as much as possible listed on the site! I'm US based and I do bundle. If shipping calculates too high or wonky on the website, I can adjust. Feel free to PM if you have any questions or want to bundle a bunch of items.

I'll be picking up a good condition Twist from my antique mall booth tomorrow and will get her on the site, just for you ;)

Hear a sizzle?! Jeez that would freak me out!

Thanks, shall give it a go at the weekend!

Yeah. Sizzle like dropping water on a skillet is fine. Crackle like frying bacon is too hot!

Sometimes, it just takes several goes at conditioner and flat ironing to get all the kinks out. I've had ponies I've worked on four or five times before they finally were acceptable! And, yeah, I always use Pantene ProV Sleek and Shiny (or smooth and sleek?) on my ponies. Sometimes, I'll put the conditioner in and set the ponies aside for a few days until I decide to get around to flat ironing them. Leaving the conditioner in won't hurt the hair at all.

Pony Corral / Re: I can't keep track on my ponies...
« on: January 30, 2022, 07:01:40 AM »
I refuse to keep track. Do I like it? Is it under $30 in value or was it one I badly wanted as a child? Do I have space to display it? Into the collection it goes! Once I get my shelves up, I will be limiting myself to only what can fit and be on display. No hiding them away in boxes like a crazy hoarder!

Oh I'm glad to know someone is doing this challenge!  Thanks for sharing your experience!  I didn't sign up for it as I've been very busy transitioning to a new job and moving...but if I can I might sign up later after all that settles down.

Wait, you're in Ohio too! I'd love to meet up and do a walk or hike together if you need the extra motivation :D  You can sign up through February 20 to get the keepsake bib and lower priced shirts. You can still sign up after that, but only while supplies last. I'm not sure how many extras they'll print as a lot of it seems to be pre-order/on demand. I skipped the shirt because I couldn't afford $30 for a tank top, but I did get the bib. The challenge runs through June 2023, so that's plenty of time to get it done!

I've also settled on a mile for swimming. My logic is I typically spend a half hour in the pool and I do a mile in 20 minutes walking. Swimming has more rest time in it, so I figure it'll be about the same.

I'm still waiting for the weather to be a bit nicer. I could count my miles from walking at work, but the point would be to motivate myself outside of work hours...

Do the 600 mile challenge and count the work miles! It's still movement and you're doing the work.

Off Topic / Re: How do you sleep in bed?
« on: January 29, 2022, 04:30:51 PM »
I've got seven cats and a 60 lb dog. Whatever position I start out in is pretty much it for the night because the moment I'm in bed, they all crowd next and on me and pretty much form an impenetrable furry barrier!

Really need to do something about Saxon sleeping on my neck, though. Waking up with a stiff neck/shoulder is getting old.

Well, I signed up for the 600 miles! Rowan (dog) and I did 4 miles in 20 degree F weather today. The sun was out and it was a really pleasant walk. We only saw like five other people!

I'm trying to work out the best way to count my swimming time as mileage. I'm thinking maybe giving myself a half mile or a mile for each time I go to the pool. I don't have a distance tracker or any way to actually track what I do swimming. Plus, swimming is a LOT more physically taxing than walking.

This is just scratching the surface. There's a bunch of stuff that hasn't been posted here, like the infamous "i Control the market" message, the facts and figures pulled out of thin air, the fact that the user only raised the price to 20k out of spite after people started to ask questions about the 10k price... this is why it's glorious to me.

Don't forget the edit where they claimed to be Native American and can get free college anyway! the whole thing is insane, start to finish.

Pony Corral / Re: Help: Color Match for Jazz Matazz pink hair?
« on: January 24, 2022, 05:34:40 PM »
I want to say it's Heart Throb from Dollyhair. I don't currently have a Jazz Matazz to check with, but Baby Tea Lily's pink (which also crumbles) is a match for Heart Throb.

This doesn't help for G3 or G4, but it's a useful guide! And it provides matches across different manufacturers. https://sites.google.com/site/mlphaircolorguide/home

Pony Corral / Re: When Collecting...
« on: January 24, 2022, 05:23:18 PM »
I keep no lists of what's in my collection and refuse to have a solid number :P I don't want to know how many there are.

i don't really care what people decide to price items they sell either. its the false claims that both me. ponies aren't a necessity like food or shelter so whatever. but it seems like that seller is forgetting that there are 2 sides to a market. they can price Rapunzel crazy high and the market can choose not to pay. in theory that seller should keep dropping the price until it sells or do an auction.

Trust me, that was pointed out. I'm sure the following memes can give you an idea of what the seller's response was ;)

PS- I'm not providing reference for who made which meme because I only have their real names from Facebook and not their Arena ID's. I don't want to be passing out that info without permission.

Oh, THESE Shenanigans! I was laughing for days over it! There's even a Facebook group about and making fun of all the nonsense. You can find a Archive.org snapshot of the original listing here: https://web.archive.org/web/20210419192831/https://www.ebay.com/itm/SCARCE-MLP-My-Little-Pony-G1-Mail-Order-RAPUNZEL-1987/274764813359

These images are all from the Facebook groups Vintage My Little Pony *G1* and Big Pun MLP Fan Club.

I'm pretty sure there's more info in other MLP Facebook groups. I left several of them last year because they wouldn't let me link to my website to sell ponies and I figured I'd just simplify my life by leaving the groups entirely. I have too many items to manage selling on ten different pages without being able to say "If it's on the website, it's available. If it's sold there, it's not." But, that's an entirely different kind of drama and not related to this topic ;)

I may have screenshots on my old phone too. I'll have to find what box I threw it in and get it charged to check.

PLEASE be sure to share the link to your video when you get it done! This whole thing was an absolute delight when it happened and I'd love to see your perspective on it.
