Pony Corral / Re: Where Do You Buy My Little Pony's
« on: March 05, 2020, 01:17:40 AM »
eBay mostly. I've had a couple off Etsy, and I've been lucky enough to find a few in local charity shops (it's how I started collecting in the first place) but it's been about 8 months since I last found a pony in the wild. I wish there were big thrift stores and goodwills here. I've tried looking on places like FB groups and gumtree, but they're always at the other end of the country, and I don't drive. (Pony collecting, among other things would certainly be easier if I didn't live in one of the more isolated, poorer corners of England and/or I could drive)
Maybe I'll try buying on here?

I'm not really into any of this sets bold colours, but I do love how aggressively 80's they are

I wouldn't collect an army myself, because of storage space and it's just not my style. It doesn't bother me if other people have armies, except maybe if they're a really rare pony. If someone, somehow, someway had a Rapunzel army, I think i might be a bit bothered then. (By wondering how they can even afford multiple Rapunzel's  )

Pony Corral / BB Chief hair match and where to get hair in UK now?
« on: February 21, 2020, 02:22:33 PM »
So I just ordered chief off eBay (very excited about my first big brother pony) for pretty cheap because he needs a new tail. In the past, I've always ordered my hair from mylittlecustoms, and had no problems, but this time, something seems...a bit off?

To start with, the first link took me to a domain that was for sale(??) And then when I DID find the website, there was only like six different nylon hair colours, and they were all sold out? idk what's going on there.

I've tried retrodoll UK, but I don't know which of their blues matches chiefs, they're all different names. I know his dollyhair colour is called forget me not, but even if there wasn't controversy surrounding dollyhair, I don't really want to order hair from the US. (Although it's starting to look like I'll have to)

So does anyone know what blue hair matches chiefs, or where I can find good nylon hair in the UK now? Thanks!

She's certainly cute, but I'd say one of the more forgettable of the so soft set. Still, that alt rehair of her is gorgeous!

Ideally, one of every gen 1 pony, gen 1 only. No Nirvana's, just ones released in the US and UK. Well, actually, there are a few European ones I love, like the Dutch star pony and some German variants. I'd like to collect the playsets too, but I haven't got anywhere to put them.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think moondancer might be prone to discolouration/browning?

Sugarberry isn't a fader, persay, but I believe she is very prone to burning in direct sunlight. Seems to be a common thing in white ponies?

Obviously it's not body fading/discolouration, but there's the infamous fading pink hair. It's a pretty long list of ponies that have fading pink hair/streaks, but you see a pony with white hair, there's like a 65% chance their hair was pink at some point

Maybe twice as fancy mountain boy ponies? (I know the loving family ponies have TaF symbols, but I think more TaF male ponies would be cool)

I think the whizzer pose is a cute pose, but I find it slightly confusing. Like, what are they supposed to be doing? Are they about to take off in flight? Are they tip toeing? Except that ponies are basically running around on their toes all the time anyway, lol (hence why I find the sweetstep ponies odd- how can a pony of all animals practice ballet?)

Pony Corral / Re: Most Underrated Twice-as-Fancy pt. One?

This one is a hard one. I'd agree that dancing butterflies, milky way, and sugarberry are the talks about ones, while up up and away, love melody and sweet tooth aren't so much. In the end I voted for love melody, since out of the latter three, she's my favourite.

No prizes for guessing which one out of the six of them is my overall favourite  ;)

I don't know how Merriweather gets overlooked so much. Not only does she have lovely colours, she's literally covered in rainbows! What more could you want?!  ^.^

But to be fair, I think bonnie bonnets and buttons are both cute/overlooked as well.

she's cute enough, and I'd take her home if I found her, but I think it's a bit much to call her dolphin pony- her symbol hardly looks like a dolphin

Pony Corral / Re: How to value a Paradise estate playset?

I can't really say how much the paradise estate is worth, but if you want to post pictures, a Flickr account is free for the first thousand photos.

Agreed, the soda sippin ponies are very pretty, especially when they still have their factory curls ❤️

I also think the drink n wet ponies are pretty- okay, yes, the pee thing is a bit odd, but they have cute names and lovely colours. (especially Rainfeather)

I'm a bit on the fence about decarding, but not for the reason you might think.

I totally get both arguements for and against it, but I could never have a MOC or MIB pony. (and not just because of the price)

see, I have this overload of empathy and so I actually feel sorry for mint in package ponies, because I can't help thinking that they look trapped and miserable, even though I know they're just plastic. So if I got a mint pony, I'd feel so bad for her that I would have to decard her and rescue her...and then I'd get hung, drawn and quartered by the collecting community.
