The Spanish names are really interesting, thank you Perikoala.

The one in particular that made me smile was Braided Beauty - Enredos > Tangles
guess who was having a bad hair day when the naming meeting came around :) :)?

Thanks for posting those links - very interesting

and I think this is 'tail wagging the dog'........
I've now got an Italian added onto on my wish list because her name is the same as a family member :) :) :)

I also think Molinillo for Pinwheel sounds cute though I can't translate it. Spanish names sound pretty ;D

I don't know Spanish, wondered perhaps if Molinillo is from the same root as 'mill' and 'moulin' which would make sense as a 'little windmill'.

Brummi conjours up the funniest thoughts as a Brummie trucker carving up traffic on the M5 round Birmingham :) :)

What a fab thread

Can I ask about some of my ponies?

I know Gustavo is the Italian Gusty, and he's a he.
I think Italian Surprise is called Melassa?
My third Italian is Tickle - what is her real name please?

My Barnacle came from Germany so he's Piri
Spanish Pinwheel is Molinillo

I've also got a Lemon Drop who came to me from Spain, a Painting Time who came here from France and Trucker from Germany. Would be lovely to know their names in their native tongues.

Pony Corral / Re: Unpopular Pony Opinions
« on: August 27, 2018, 05:30:39 AM »
On a related note, my unpopular/just really random opinion is that there should be much, much more focus on rambling on about the names given to ponies in foreign languages :) But probably most people aren't as obsessed with foreign languages as me!

I agree as well, I'd like to call my ponies their names in their native tongue, I'm not that gifted in languages ( only UK English and a bit of French)

A new thread is needed here :) anyone know Italian names to start with..........:)

Hey Shaz, maybe your unpopular opinion isn't as unpopular as all that :)

Off Topic / Re: How is your sense of direction?
« on: August 26, 2018, 02:08:32 AM »
My sense of direction is very good and I have always been able to read maps even as a small child (would actually prefer a map to a set of instructions).

Interestingly, as I live in a very rural area, I can find my way round strange cities/towns almost better than in the country. It's very odd.

The trotting pose is my favourite.
I display all my trotting ponies together. They look like a chorus-line of dancers and as if they are having so much fun you can't help but smile at them all.

Haven't used my second vote as cannot decide between Crumpet pose and Sugarberry pose both of which I think are adorable.

Love her colours, have the rest of the band - but dislike the pose so not going looking for her.

Pony Corral / Re: If you had a bald Galaxy...
« on: August 22, 2018, 01:34:57 AM »
I've had some fun rehairing in two colours, one on each side. Depending upon how you brush/style the hair the pony can have different looks. For the tail just layer up the colours so they look striped.

For Galaxy perhaps dark purple like black cherries down the right hand side, undersown with a strong terracotta?

They look great together, a lovely collection. All the more special for having been together, and with you for so long.

PS a collection isn't just about quantity, it's about the overall story - and yours has a wonderful tale to tell

Have her, I like her curly hair. She hangs out with my Barnacle - all that curly red hair at that end of the shelf :)

Mine has a guitar but I think it's the one that belongs to Pretty Beat - but we don't have her so Tuneful can keep it!

Alternative poses would be fab.

and if there was ever a Minty in the trotting pose like Taffeta has shown I'd be buying an army of them :)

Wow!
Just Wow!

That is fabulous - and the lighting is magical

Thanks for showing us, and I hope you and your wife have many happy hours in that lovely room (I could stare at pictures of it all day :) - and I'm not telling my ponies or they'd all want to move in :) :) )
