Pony Corral / Re: Which Ponies Do You Think Look Good Aged?
« on: November 17, 2019, 04:54:25 AM »
I really like when so softs have evenly worn down flocking. It seems to be the happy medium between a nice soft texture, but their colours still shine through. I have a Gusty & Lofty like this and they're just perfect ♡

Pony Corral / Re: It was fine when I got it...

G3 divine shines... I got mine when they came out in 06. I took meticulous care of them (I was already an older kid who knew what collecting was, lol) and made sure to store my ponies in cool dry places out of direct sunlight. But now my Secret Wish is starting to get the orangey tinge and the dissolving glitter. It does sting a bit that my collection from when I was already an "older" kid is already breaking down :(

I also had a G1 Party Time with no regrind, but then all my ponies were packed up for a couple months because we were trying to move, and when I took everyone back out she had a pink spot on her neck.

Off Topic / Re: Konmari anyone?
« on: November 16, 2019, 04:26:00 AM »
I don't really use it in terms of collecting since what I enjoy is the challenge of thrift hunting and restoration projects, but my entire wardrobe is konmari'd and it makes my life so much easier! It's really helped me get into a healthier headspace when it comes to expressing myself (no more ugly "I'm too sick to care so these are my only 3 pairs of pants" outfits! I love everything I wear!), and I've figured out how many clothes I actually need to get through rough weeks or even months with my health when having to do laundry might be the tipping point into hurting myself. It also makes me excited to get dressed, and open up my drawers full of perfectly folded tshirts and leggings, as opposed to two years ago when clothes were an absolute battleground because of my medical problems restricting my options.

I realize collections can be a totally different beast, but I would honestly recommend incorporating as much of the technique as you feel comfortable with. Maybe start by getting rid of the cheaper/easier to find items that don't really make you happy anymore? That way it can be a test run and if you regret it, it's not too hard or expensive to replace. Or maybe you won't end up missing them at all! I think starting is the hardest part, though.

Pony Corral / Re: Would you buy a restored pony?
« on: November 15, 2019, 09:03:15 PM »
I'd buy a restored pony in the sense that I don't care too much about it being 100% original (I think the pony's wear and tear and adventure along tbe way before being cleaned up gives it more character and is kinda charming!), but honestly I would prefer to buy at a lower price and do the restorations myself because I find it fun  :)

LOL, great to see a detailed review, and you're really funny! "everybody's upset, let's just look at the horse" absolutely killed me  :lmao:

I don't think I'll be buying these fashion styles, but now I'm tempted to buy an extra normal size one to see how they come apart

Twilight in this new style is starting to grow on me. She's very 90s-esque in a way to me?

I'm noticing that I only seem to like the unicorns in this style

That sounds cute! Just so long as they don’t have completely flat faces with giant ears. I think that’s what made these latest toys so disturbing - they look like this:

My roommate keeps saying they look like this!:

If these are a transitional point towards g5, I honestly have a feeling the feathered hooves are gonna stick around. Based on that concept art that was leaked forever ago, maybe they'll end up with a more slender build like g2s, but with bigger eyes and more chibi-fied faces like g4? That's my hope anyway. Trying to stay positive here

I actually like the new designs in their regular size. Potion Nova and the new Trixie with starry-looking eyes actually sparked some of the same wonder and joy I felt for new ponies when I was a kid.

not gonna lie, I think they're kinda cute in normal size. the proportions seem less crazy.... and that galaxy-eyed looking Trixie makes me kinda soft honestly

I wouldn't cut a pony's hair myself (except for making a preexisting trim look better), but I do like the character it adds when ponies with haircuts come my way! I think it makes them more unique and interesting. My g1 Salty who came to me with a haircut that I styled into an adorable choppy punk rock look is honestly one of my fave ponies in my collection

Pony Corral / Re: G4 Pony Classification?

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Perhaps we could do generation 4, and mould series? ie: g4m1, g4m2, g4m3.

Or, stick with plain g4, but then reboots 1 and 2? ie: g4r1, g4r2. Just an idea!

as others have said, I think they're honestly even easier than g1s! because of their slightly different plastic, I've even had the nastiest of stains/pen marks come off with just hot soapy water and a fingernail
