Pony Corral / Re: Any room for Flutterponies in g4?
« on: July 23, 2018, 02:04:29 PM »
They already have actually. Despite what the writers of  Hasbroken might think, Discord is a VERY warped version of an Asian Dragon. Its a shame they turned him into a complete loon.

I think he's actually a Ryuuma (or however you read that in Chinese xD). (A Dragon Horse). Though as you say it's a warped presentation.

I'm going to reiterate but it's not the inclusion but the manner of it that I have problems with...

On another slightly incredulous note, does MLP seriously reference Dragonball? If so, it kind of underscores my point more about trying to fly with what is 'cool'.

The idea of DB references in MLP actually makes me shudder. Just when I thought FIM couldn't scrape the barrel any further...
Yep, there's a DB-like fight between Twilight and Tirek in the season 4 finale.

Here she is at my childhood friend's home, hanging out with my friend's beloved Butterscotch (not the mlp one of course haha, the furreal friends one) and another plush horse she had.

Pony Corral / Re: Pony Poll - How do you collect your pre-owned G1's?
« on: July 17, 2018, 05:21:52 PM »
I don't hunt accessories, but i like when i have them and can display them with the ponies, like all the accessories for my baby buggy or the hats, wands and combs for princess Serena and Starburst

Pony Corral / Re: Why do you like Collecting MOC Ponies?
« on: July 17, 2018, 04:46:06 PM »
I personally see the point of MOC, though i'm really not interested in them. Like Taffeta said here, it's an awesome piece of MLP history, but i just want to be able to touch my toys.Decarding g1s seems dumb to me though, of course you do what you want with your collection but i can't see a reason for doing that. You lose a pony that hasn't been opened for 20-30 years just to have one you could've bought already unboxed for cheaper, that makes no sense to me.Are those 5 minutes of opening the box worth an MOC pony disappearing ? i don't think so.I also don't like the "you can decard if there are a lot of MOCs of that pony left" point because it seems like such a slippery slope to me, if everybody said that and did that the number of MOCs of that pony would get low.

Pony Corral / Re: Who is your favorite Sunny Scent?
« on: June 28, 2018, 05:35:44 AM »
In my experience of scented ponies, scent dissipates more if the pony is open to air. I had a Butter Kiss sent in a lot last year and after 2 weeks in transit she had polluted the whole box to the point I had to air the ponies and recycle the box...

I am trying to remember if my Thistle Whistle came from you in one of our trades, goddessofpeep. I think she may have been a local find but I am not sure and her packaging is not accessible. It is interesting how the same set seems to have such different scent levels.

Was Thistle Whistle not popularised by one of the animated specials or am I confusing her? The special with Starcatcher...
Thistle Whistle has an important role in A Very Minty Christmas

It got too cold for Truly (being a delicate Southern Belle and all, so the rest of the episode used Sundance because she was Truly's stunt double.
Even without speaking she's more interesting than Truly, so i really don't mind it.

How to promote the whole range of the Flutter Ponies in a few seconds of animation. It's Lily...no it's Peach Blossom...no, Honeysuckle...gotta catch em all!
I'm honestly surprised that no user here has mentioned 'The Ice Cream Wars' yet in this regard - even as a kid, the most entertaining part of the (otherwise pretty malaise) episode was watching as the four First Tooth babies suddenly changed to five (with Baby Bouncy randomly teleporting into the scenery for no apparent reason), then back to four (with Baby Quackers abruptly transfigured into Baby Tic Tac Toe), then all six suddenly being present during the climax. It's such a conspicuous error, and what mystifies me a greater deal is how one explains this. Yes, the relatively uniform pony character models would certainly have played a role in the 'transfiguration', but the number of characters suddenly shifting between scenes (translation errors/miscommunication on Sunbow's part leading to AKOM botching several key details)?

Isn't there also 2 Baby Lickety Splits at one point?
Yep, that was so good of an error that i took a screenshot of it (by the way thanks for reminding me where it came from).

Oh. It's too bad we don't get american ponys here... Do you get any in france? I only seem to get european versions of everything
Well as i said earlier i'm swimming in Spanish and Italian versions of ponies that have those versions, so the only US ponies i find are ones that don't have european variations

SS Posey... Gosh, that would sure have a different meaning in my country xDDD wow. But I understand what you mean.
Theres a green tootsie? I have two white ones... one says hong kong and the other italy... What do US ponys say on the foot?

Oh... Macau. I understand. I dont think Ive ever seen one of those
US ponies say Hong Kong or China under the hoof.Your white HK tootsie is the european release apparently, since the US version is green.Italian Tootsie was also white.

I mean, is it dumber than Tim and Tom (their names in France) ?

Honestly? Yes. I mean, imagine the university application form ;)
I also think Flic and Flac (is that right?) sounds cute.
But while we're on the subject of twin names, my favourite names from the French release are the G2 twins Drifter & Dreamer...or 'Vive la Vie & Vive le Vent". It doesn't translate so nicely into English (Jorgito, feel free to correct me but I think "Long live life" and "Long Live the Wind"?), but it sounds so cute in French. Most of my G2 ponies and almost all of my twins came from France when on holiday there so I always remember that from the insert.

Sadly they're the one set of twins I didn't find there, so mine are in English packaging. But I'd actually rather have them in French because those are the names I always identify them with. It took me a long time to learn the English names xD.

Image from the pony Business site.
That's quite cute (also Drifter is one of the only g2 babies i have, nice coincidence).Your translation is right, Vive le Vent was probably chosen because that's the name of our version of Jingle Bells here (though they don't have anything to do with Christmas.... well it's cute so i don't mind)
Flic and Flac is cute, but i really can't see Flic as a baby pony name since it's slang for cop.

What does Macau mean?
Macau is a region in China, some ponies were made there and are stamped Macau under the hoof.

...Do different versions have different names? Or should I just call them... Posey I and Posey II? xD

I can't seem to find anything regarding that on my little wiki

Posey does have a recognised symbol variation (magenta rather than pink) so in a way Posey I and Posey II would really work for them xD. Also you're in Austria, so there's good chances of ones made in Italy as well (which the UK and US and other English speaking countries generally didn't get for some reason..?)

There are minor variations in symbol colouring and symbols can fade (Posey is a key example of fading symbol in the paler version) but if in doubt, best to keep both ;)
...How could i forget about the Italian version when i'm swimming in Italian ponies ?

So common you stopped noticing it? Like when you walk down the same street every day and don't notice the same bush because it's always there? XD

I would like to be swimming in Italian ponies. I have always had a soft spot for them and their goofy expressions.

@JasonP - some people keep doubles, even sometimes a lot of the same pony (known as 'armies'). Some people trade or sell their doubles.
That must be it.If you like Italian ponies, come live in France because that's litteraly all i see from french sellers that aren't collectors. I was amazed to see someone selling an HK Skyflier among other ponies i wanted not too long ago and immediatly bought them since i only ever saw Italian Skyflier here.

JasonP : i don't know how to describe them, but their eyes don't really look the same as the "normal" HK ponies, which makes them look different and pretty cool

Ah yes, again the weirdness of different ponys in different countries... Its like with coke xD we get a sugar reduced version here that doesnt taste as good as the one in america o.o its totally unfair. And I'm not talking about the diet or zero one, I mean the regular one... so lame.

I guess I'll just keep all my doubles then ^^; i have the same thing with Lickety split, lemon drop and peachy o-o And also tootsie... though with that one I already checked and it says one is an italy and the other a hong kong pony.

Do you guys keep doubles?

Are you from italy, Jorgito? Cuz your name sounds somewhat... not english xD
I'm french, but my nickname is related to part of my family being spanish.
I usually don't keep my exact doubles (same pony from the same country that isn't a variation) but i keep ponies that are the same but from different countries. They can really be different and beautiful (like Italian Tootsie or Macau Butterscotch, some of my favorite g1 ponies in my collection).
