Off Topic / Re: Healthy Pony Round 2 Treat yourself...here we go
« on: October 03, 2016, 07:33:25 PM »
Yikes! I'm due for an update. I'm keeping up with my walking. 3 days a week. One mile. Even throwing out my back and major spasm by my scoliosis didn't stop me.
I got started on my new afghan. Alpaca for softness and cotton for weight. All purple!
I got some Halloween arts and crafts thought up for my daughter and got a few done.
I'm also making a little afghan for my dog.
We made brownies, pudding, muffins and cookies.
I also did a much better job with actually cooking instead of throwing together pre-made or ready to eat foods.
All in all, I'm doing pretty well. :)
I get a pony!
Oh, and yes, my budget worked this month! It's finally sorted. :)

On a different note, I'm traveling via airplane later this month and I'm so scared silly. I'm so glad my dog is certified and my daughter knows what she needs to do. I don't want her to miss out on fun things in life just because I'm broken. It's going to take every ounce of will power. I'll be mia the 22nd-25th afternoon.

Cg great job knitting! :) do we get to see the final result?

I read the book recently and it started off good, but fell apart IMO. After the other bird arrived it felt rushed and confusing. There also was not enough explanation on their time travel or the way the loops work.
I am going to see the movie in hopes that they have simplified things a little!

It did need the second book. I just don't think it'll be worth the cost of theaters for us.

I've read all the books and really love them! I love the story, characters and the old photos.
My boyfriend read them and said that the "Hollows" seem to be uh ripped off from a manga that came out years ago, so that was kinda a bummer.

But otherwise I do really enjoy reading them!

I'm on the fence about the movie because:
a.) It looks like there is a different love interest.
b.) they switched some of the abilities around in the movie, and added scenes.(Like they don't go underwater on a pirate ship.)
c.) I really love Emma Blooms character but where the heck is she?!

I feel like they added some things to make the movie more interesting, so I'm really worried it will be like Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials, where the books are AMAZING, and then The Golden Compass kinda flopped.

I've read all of the books and love them all. I'm on the fence about the movie because they changed peculiarities around and changed ages on some of the children. Emma is no longer our resident fire guru. She now has Olive's ability of air and Olive is now the Fire guru. I wanna like no scratch that I wanna love this movie and I love Tim Burton but I just don't know why he had to change so much. Ransom Riggs did approve all the changes but a lot of the story revolves around Emma power. So I'm not 100% sure how it's going to go. I'm skeptical really.

This is definitely not a movie worth seeing in the theater then. I'll wait until Netflix has it. I really hate it when they change characters abilities and personalities. The movie "I am number four" did that. They could have had a huge series if they stayed true. Those books aren't as good as these imo. I only get maybe two movies in the theater a year so I like to make it worth it.

Silly side note. The last one we saw in theaters was minions. My daughter loves those crazy minions.

Thank you all for your opinions. :)

I haven't gotten to see the new series yet. The new movie was awesome! I love the references you wouldn't get without having seen the originals. I grew up with the originals. Loved every second. My brother even had a Raphael birthday cake. Oh my, and the nes game! I spent days playing that. Back when you still walked into a store to rent games and vhs movies.

I sleep like this naturally when allowed to. I'm also nocturnal. If left alone and without appointments to keep, I go to sleep just before or at dawn, wake about 4 hours later not feeling groggy at all. I usually play a puzzle game or something on my 3DS or listen to music after I feed my cats. Sometimes I do light chores, like laundry. Then about 2 hours later I go back to sleep and stay asleep for another 6 hours or so.

I feel the best physically, mentally and emotionally when I can operate this way. Unfortunately, the world around me doesn't agree.

I agree.

Dunno about that. When I have constantly interrupted sleep I get disoriented and cranky.

Also I agree with you. I'm up every two hours and it's exhausting. When I manage a whole three hours uninterrupted my mind is so much clearer and that's only an hour difference. The longest I've managed since my condition surfaced is five hours and that was when I was heavily drugged on pain meds after surgery. I wonder how much better I would function with better sleep.

I get about 6 hours overnight and one 4 hour nap or two 2 hour naps in the afternoon. I switched because health problems made it necessary. My energy did increase significantly.

My brother is a certified genius and he advocates it as well. It's more of a natural rhythm. To sleep during the hottest time of day and the early morning when nocturnal predators have gone to sleep, but the daytime ones haven't woken.

I've purchased some lots from reputable sellers that don't normally sell ponies and they've been poorly packaged or had some more marks then I would have liked considering the description. I honestly think they were just clueless and the price was still good for what I got. They didn't want to give a partial refund since they were selling for a daughter in both cases, so I just let it be. They were polite, apologetic, and did offer a full return. I gave them a good review and got a great review in return.

What I really liked about the book is that the photos were real. They were antique. I'm also way too informed about both world wars since my dad is a history major. I like it when rl is incorporated into the story. Also, it was different. Like the night circus.

I've read two books so far and heard they have a movie of the first coming out. Has anyone else read it/them? Do you think they'll be able to make it a good movie? I'm also trying to decide if it will be too scary visually for my daughter. The monsters in the books were pretty creepy.

Was it difficult? I've been considering trying it, but my hands shake, so I haven't. I have done a tail (finally) and that went okay.
