I LOVE looking into this little time portal you’ve opened up! Also your room would make Tina Belcher jealous. (Apologies if you aren’t a Bob’s Burger fan, she’s a sweet character who loves horses and I’m sure every member of this forum could say the same!)

Younger you took such good care of all your ponies! If you still have them, wow, so many of those are the condition that collectors love finding these days. All those perfect wings on the flutter ponies! Love it! The bit with Sundance standing next to Swiftwing is definitely making me wonder if Lauren Faust had some She-ra toys that inspired Princess Celestia. They look like they’re having an important conversation. It’s just such a cute video! Thank you for sharing!

@wardah - I didn’t see your reply before it was deleted but I see your logic, especially if other pony swapping posts have worked similarly in the past, and I’m not so bothered about it. These little guys seem to have had really poor distribution!

@emery - the packaging DOES have letters that indicate which ponies are inside! Here is the MLPmerch page with the codes for that set: https://data.mlpmerch.com/g45-blind-bags/release/potion-surprise-batch-2/ and for the other blind bag g4.5 ponies, which could be helpful because apparently these ponies are distributed to stores in different assortments even within the same batch:  https://data.mlpmerch.com/g45-blind-bags/

Thank you so much for offering to help! I’ll send you a PM as well.

I’ve heard they were easier to find in some areas. If you have these and are willing to sell them, please send me a message and comment below! Thank you!

I have in fact heard of people using printable heat transfer vinyl and a cricut to make decals for plastic. I hear you can use a small https://www.amazon.com/Clover-NR-632-inThe-Adapters-Setin/dp/B001BLU4SA/ref=asc_df_B001BLU4SA/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416944445647&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4718096825406635830&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1024479&hvtargid=pla-409360406834&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=96811480951&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416944445647&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4718096825406635830&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1024479&hvtargid=pla-409360406834 iron to heat the vinyl transfer and apply the design to the plastic. I’ve never tried it - it requires an ink jet printer, I believe, which I don’t have - but honestly the restorations that would be possible if the MLP community adopted this technique would be impressive!

Pony Corral / Re: HQG1C Cowboy hat *Updated!

If you choose to coat or seal the hat, I’d recommend a permanent clear sealant like Crystal Clear or Mr. Super Clear over clear nail polish. Anything designed to be used on the body will be less permanent.

You’re most welcome! Lol, I meant to edit my first post but instead I quoted myself....😅

If you’re asking if anyone has sculpted and cast their own MLP style sculpts, I can think of a few people who have who aren’t mentioned above!

I do not know who sculpted the figure in this video about mold making, but it’s an original, hand sculpted, g1 style alicorn and the sculpt is honestly spot on. If the artist happened to be a member of this site and wanted to sell casts of this character, I’d be interested!

I know twinkleeyeslittlegems https://instagram.com/twinkleeyeslittlegems?igshid=t4fan4o965km on Instagram sculpts their own baby sea ponies and sells different versions of them. They look like the teeny tiny ponies, they’re really cute!

Yup, I’m talking about the balloon ponies. That could be the case. Thank you for the tip! Here in the US I saw nothing but batch 1. It’s nice to be able to confirm these things with other users. Thanks for your input!

So I suppose this is a bit similar to the thread about people having a hard time finding the Minty fashion pac, but I feel like batch 2 of the Potion Surprise blind bag ponies never appeared in most stores in my area. I never saw them at least. Has anyone else had an easier time finding them, or was distribution just really spotty on Hasbro stuff at the second half of last year? It makes sense with Covid affecting everything, but it’s a pity. Myself I was really looking forward to finding the extra cute round ponies, and since the secret ring set is very well distributed now, I’m wondering if I’ve missed my chance, or if it’s time to start haunting the toy isle at Tuesday Morning. The other post about Minty made me wonder if a lot of people have been having this issue with other things meant to be released around the same time.

Not to bring this post into territory that will get it moved to another area of the forum but if you happen to have a few you don’t want, please feel free to PM me! Thanks!

Those gem ponies are growing on me! Speaking of blind bags, I’m curious, did anyone see wide releases of the Potion Surprise blind bag batch 2 set? The little balloon shaped guys? I had a look back through the rest of this thread and didn’t see much mention of them. I was really looking forward to those ones and haven’t seen them anywhere near me. Targets everywhere had batch 1 earlier last year but those didn’t appeal to
me much and the second set did not seem to be well distributed. I saw a box of batch 1 of the potion surprise blind bags pop up at a Fred Meyers recently, and since they sometimes seem to get toys after they’ve finished their main distribution run at other stores I’m wondering if I’ll see more. Has anyone seen the batch 2 ones popping up in dollar stores, Tuesday Morning, etc? Is there anyone living in a place that is simply drowning in little round balloon horses that doesn’t want them, and maybe we could work out a trade? I’ve got a few G1 doubles, hit me up!

To add helpful info here, I also saw a WALL full of potion surprise brushables  in the toy section of a local Ross earlier this week, going for $1.79 each! Good time to stock up if you want to try customizing some, perhaps!

Pony Corral / Re: Is it safe to bake a pony?

Another way to cure (garden) polymer clay is to submerge it in boiling water. It’s a nice method because the clay doesn’t come out scorched. I’d suggest doing research on how long to boil it, I know there are plenty of good sources online if you search for boil curing polymer clay.

Now, one drawback I’ve heard about is that clay that hasn’t properly cured (say, the inside of a thick piece is still soft)  can cause chemical reactions in the pony’s vinyl that can cause it to break down or leech. I’ve even been warmed by doll customizers that even cured sculpey can cause issues with plastic, though I’m no expert on that. I’ve got no personal experience with boil curing polymer clay pieces onto toys; I’ve only used the boil cure method for sculptures that are all clay pieces. But, if nothing else, it’s certainly well known that it’s  just fine to boil a My Little Pony. I say it can’t hurt to experiment. You could use a fakie as a test subject.

Bleach dip sounds great, thank you! Do you water it down? What proportions do you use?

I’m still open to other suggestions too. I have ponies in worse shape I can test Scrubbing Bubbles on.

Pony Corral / Mildew-y ponies vs scrubbing bubbles?
« on: August 15, 2020, 06:05:52 PM »
Hello all,

A few years ago I got a lot of ponies of Craigslist that seemed to have spent the past 25 or so years in a box in a leaky Pacific Northwest attic. They definitely smell of mildew, and a lot of them have marks like this:

My boyfriend suggested that Scrubbing Bubbles was safe for use on vinyl and very effective at removing mildew. When I read the label it said that it wasn%u2019t a good idea to use it on painted surfaces. I think I can keep it away from the paint but I%u2019m wondering if it will affect the pony%u2019s dye/color long term. I%u2019ve seen those other products that get into the plastic and degrade the pigment used to color the pony over time.

In any case, how have you cleaned up ponies that look like this? A lot of them are doubles for me and I%u2019d be quite happy to get them looking presentable and traded or sold to living pony homes. Thanks for your advice!

Has the lavender Dream Castle been found MIP? I think I remember participating in a conversation here about how no one had seen mint versions of the stickers in that one.

Pony Corral / Re: Big Light-Up Celestia- can she be taken apart?

I imagine with a toy like this, made of hard plastic, a good first step would be heading to the hardware store to make sure you’ve got the right size screwdriver head to unscrew her. I haven’t handled one myself, so that’s mainly a guess, but could be worth a try. Does her head seem to pry off?
