THAT UNICORN IN THE VANNER MOLD! I feel like he’s a custom, made just for me—he’s everything I’ve been wanting! Oh, and I just have to say that 90s Throwback screams “Fashion Star Filly”, to me. XD

The Bayala releases have been really cartoony-faced since the movie came out. :/ Especially the elves... eek. I hope it’s just a phase, or they get backlash and revert to the realistic paint jobs.

My anxiety has been surging up. :( Maybe my nerves are finally shot after surviving a year like this, I don’t know... I just can’t seem to relax. I feel so on edge, and my sleep pattern is taking a hit. I wish I could find a way turn the panic button in my brain off. :/

I actually really like the secret ring ponies—although not the blind packaging. XP It’s something different, with new characters. Depending on whether I can find a way to buy a full/complete case, I might get them.

It’s beautiful! And the Minty theme in the bathroom is really awesome and creative! <3 I’m a bit envious of your mural painting skills too, haha—it looks so magical and pretty! Major congrats on the renovations!

How have I never seen this? It’s lovely, just my cup of tea. :) Definitely going on the ol’ wishlist, haha.

Oof, not another incomplete set... I’m just happy to see BF going forward with more ponies, though. Has TE been confirmed, or are we still just speculating? I know BF has mentioned them, but is there anything concrete? I fear for the future, what with the aftermath of Covid-19.

If you sell or trade ponies much, I’d offer them as freebies or bonuses to buyers. You could also put them together in lots on Ebay—even common G1s tend to sell in groups. :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / “Retro” Toys... When did they become so big?
« on: December 07, 2020, 01:15:54 PM »
Over the last few years, I’m sure most of us have noticed the surge in retro/“classic” toys like Basic Fun MLPs, World’s Smallest, and ReAction figures. There were always niche, “geek” markets for things like Silkstone Barbies and Masterpiece Transformers, but lately I’m seeing a lot more retro toys entering the mainstream market. Perhaps most amusing to me are these 90s-era repro handheld games. XD When I was browsing holiday sales last week, I noticed an entire category on Walmart’s website dedicated to “Retro Toys”, up beside ubiquitous categories like “Dolls”, “Cars”, and “Action Figures”.

There have always been retro toys, of course—especially at the holidays, when nostalgic novelty gifts tend to pop up—but it seems like there’s been a much greater saturation in the last half-decade. I’m definitely not complaining, but it does have me curious... I could chalk up the MLPs and such to 80s/90s nostalgia. (From a business perspective, millennials are now largely out of school/uni and in their prime wage-earning years, lol. XD Whenever a generation hits the 25-35 range, there’s a spike in nostalgia-based goods vying for their wallet.) Some of the retro toys are much... “retro-er” than that, though. 60s and 70s toys and franchises seem to be enjoying a comeback as well. I wonder if the shift to streaming entertainment is having a significant influence on the retro trend? Kids today have greater access to previous decades of entertainment than any generation before them. For that matter, so do nostalgic adults.

So... What are your thoughts on it all? Why do you think there’s such a sudden interest in retro-styled toys? Do you collect any?

My aunt and uncle are recovering well from Covid-19, and their lives are almost back to normal. I can’t put in to words how much of a relief this is... :’) I’ve been extremely stressed for the past few weeks worrying about them, but I finally feel like I can relax and enjoy the holidays.

More merry-go-rounds in other generations. I'd love a bigger set with detailed ponies and a proper carousel like the matchbox carousel animals.

Imagine a rotating carousel with slots for all the G1 Merry Go Round ponies. <3 That would have been the best MLP playset ever.
This!!! So this!!!

I have seriously considered trying to DIY my own carousel for my Merry Go Round ponies out of a rotating spice rack and some dollhouse building materials. XP

My aunt and uncle, who were both suffering from Covid-19 and unable to get proper treatment, are now doing much better! I’m so relieved, I could dance. Both of them were older, at-risk individuals, and my aunt is a cancer survivor... I’m just so glad they’re recovering well.

Yep, I’m gonna need that Exotic Shorthair cat and the nautilus. =D

Didn’t want to start a new thread, but have you guys seen the 25th Ann. Toy Story figures? I in LOVE with this Rex. Look at the accessories! GIMME

The Dollhouse / Re: Barbie Extra!
« on: November 24, 2020, 05:46:02 AM »
I saw a post on Facebook that someone bought one of the Extras dolls and one of the doll’s legs was broken off at the knee inside the box.

Ponyfan

Oof, I reeeaaally hope that was a fluke/dud/damaged in shipping. I’m absolutely in love with these, and it would break my heart if they were defective. D=

I don’t believe any of the body molds are new, so unless they were using inferior plastics, I can’t imagine why they would be more breakable. :(

The Rainbow one is my favorite! But I guess I'll stick with BMR for now ;)

I can’t pick a favorite! XD I love them all. The two curvy gals stand out to me, though—especially #4’s gorgeous freckles.
