Trader & Shipping Support / Re: "Resealed by Global Shipping Program"
« on: August 18, 2015, 06:38:27 AM »
I'm not sure if it is better or worse than the days 4 in 5 sellers shipped to US only. Pony I received yesterday arrived with her box stinking of car exhaust fumes. Pony also affected. Highly doubt this was the seller as 24 hours in air has greatly improved the issue. Totally  believe it was GSP.

If the seller was signed up for it without asking then I don't blame them, but any seller who uses it to make shipping more convenient for them at our expense Im afraid I look on with a tremendous sense of contempt. Shipping internationally is so much easier these days, and there is a lot more protection than the cash in the mail days of old. Unless there is a serious physical reason like disability that prevents going to a PO, or the item is too big and unwieldy to send for less than a small fortune, to me there is no excuse to not ship overseas.

I saw a lot of accessories recently from Canada. Pony wear. Seller shipped to US and Canada but nowhere else as 'shipping was too high'. On ponywear. Which a buyer would pay shipping on. Large playsets, fair enough, but Ponywear? It's really just an excuse.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Every time I look something up on ebay about 75% of the listings only off gsp for shipping, it really puts me off from purchasing from them considering how the shipping is 2-3x as much not including the import fees. I usually take the time to message a seller and ask if they offer regular USPS shipping if it's an item I really want. Most sellers respond back with a no, but I have had some success with it. Many sellers don't even know that they are enrolled in that program.

As far as Canadian sellers not wanting to ship outside Canada and the US, I think I can help explain that a little better. Sending parcels from Canada to pretty much anywhere overseas it's extremely expensive to begin with, once you factor in tracking, it's unlikely someone would purchase from you. As an example, I recently took part in a swap on the arena and my partners box was heading to Singapore, the shipping cost was $60 for regular airmail, had I added the tracking on, it would've cost me another $70  Our postal system and the prices of services here are ridiculous.

I appreciate everyone's responses.

I had no idea that DHL and USPS partnered together to offer discounted rates to high volume mailers, so that's good to know. It helps me to understand it a little better.

I would never leave a negative or neutral feedback because of import charges, I know that I'm responsible for them and that it's not the sellers fault. I have thought of contacting the seller to ask why they shipped using a different method, but there communication is also lackluster according to their feedback, so I don't see much point.

At this point I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it makes through customs without getting the fees tacked on. It's just a frustrating situation, once you factor in shipping costs, currency conversion and (assuming) import charges, it would've just been cheaper for me to purchase the item in Canada instead.

I recently purchased a non pony item via ebay this past weekend. I went to check the tracking today and noticed that the seller has chosen to send it using DHL Courier as opposed to USPS First Class as stated in their listing.

I'm concerned that I'll be stuck paying hefty import charges for an item coming through that service, I know that had the purchase been sent out as stated in the listing it would've just gone through without any issues.

I understand as a buyer I am responsible for any import/additional charges, however if I had known they weren't going to send it via USPS I never would've purchased from them. The item is $22 CAD, literally $2 over what is allowed to come into Canada without additional fees. I have never paid import charges for anything below $60 CAD except items sent using a courier.

The seller is a top seller with 99.8% positive feedback, well over 30,000 transactions to date. I did go back through their feedback and I can see tons of positive, neutral and negative all complaining about sending via courier as well as selling knockoff products or used products when the item is listed as new (Odd that the feedback wouldn't be worse). To be honest, when a seller has darn near perfect feedback, I don't tend to read through them, which would be my own fault.

Is there anything at all I can do about this? How would you handle it if you were in my situation?

Off Topic / Re: How do you celebrate your wedding anniversary?
« on: August 13, 2015, 09:53:40 AM »
My husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversaries by getting a little dressed up (nothing super fancy or formal, just nicer than our regular everyday clothes) and we go out to a nice dinner. We also exchange cards and gifts :)

ETA: Congrats on your upcoming 10 Year Anniversary! That's a big milestone, especially in todays day and age :)

Off Topic / Re: Anyone like Mr. Sketch scented markers?

I loved these as kid, I actually still love them. The scent is fairly strong, not overwhelming. I think it depends on the scent. I've only used the fruit pack, my fav has always been the cinnamon one. I think they last quite a while

I definitely fall under the totally inked category :P I have 31 so far, with 2/3 of them only being visible in the summer when I wear shorts or dresses. I plan on adding more very soon  ^.^ My hubby is heavily inked as well, he has around 50 and plans on adding more as well.

I'll admit the promo pics looked better, but based on how Starlite looks, Brite could've turned out much worse :P I really love how Twink looks and I think Brite looks cute in a gloomy way ^.^

My pony arrived today :)

Whippycorn, she is beautiful! I love the little extras that you included as well :) Thank you so much for making her for me and for putting together such a cute little box

She's super cute. Does anyone know how much she is? It's too bad we don't have Target in Canada anymore.

Thanks for all of the wonderful compliments :)
