G3 Desert Rose with faded white hair but only when it faded out evenly and there are no pink "roots" left. The all white plus glitter makes her look snowy and her symbol stands out more, imo.
I agree! I found one once secondhand and thought she looked really pretty.

Sister says Tornado looks better with white hair. I don't agree, but there you are :)
Oh, I agree with your sister! I love blue and white together ^.^

Baby Nightsong can also look really pretty with faded hair. All-white ponies are very pretty.

Anyone having luck with the regional eggs? I finally got Tauros and Farfetch'd, so my Gen 1 dex is COMPLETE  :frolic:
Awesome! I actually didn't know they were doing regional eggs  ^^; I'm out of the loop these days.

Just out of curiosity, how does everyone decide which pokemon to keep and which to send to the professor?  Is it based on attack power, how many stars it gets when your leader evaluates it or something else?
Typically people keep the Pokemon with most stars when the team leader evaluates it. Even Pokemon with the same number of stars can have slightly different defense, HP, and attack, though. I'm not an expert and don't battle all that much (especially not player vs. player), but I think in general if you're looking at a good defensive Pokemon -- say, Snorlax -- you'll want to keep the Snorlax with the highest HP stat, given that all else is equal. If you're looking at a great damage-per-second attack Pokemon, like Gengar, you'd want high attack stats. Does anyone else want to chime in with some advice?

Obviously, also you'll want to keep hard-to-find Pokemon (if you want a living dex or if you'll need to walk it to get candy to evolve it into another form).

Personally I also just keep the Pokemon I find cutest or the ones that have sentimental value for me (like my starter Charmander). I hope this helps a little :)

So I'm playing only occasionally, but I need more friends for research so if anybody still has space, here's my code:
Spoiler

I'll add you!

Caught a shiny Houndour.  He's blue instead of black.
That's awesome! Houndour is a favorite of mine. How did you find it, out of curiosity?

Anyone having problems with Pokemon Go? I can’t log in with google

Now it’s working  again
Yeah, sometimes either one of the two methods of logging into Pokemon Go (Google or a Pokemon Trainer Club, depending on what you signed up for) are not working because the respective servers are down. Google, at the very least, tends to be more reliable and the servers don't go down nearly as often as the PTC servers go down. It's frustrating, though.

Is there a list of everyone's user names [and possibly codes] under a spoiler somewhere so that we can look up who has sent us a request?  (I just don't have the time to go through 9 pages of names right now).
Unfortunately, no ^^; If there are any names you're particularly puzzled by, though, I might be able to help you match Arena person to Pokemon player!

Haruna, I'm so happy to hear you've finally got your shiny Growlithe! :)
Thanks so much! ^.^ I'm so happy to finally have him.

I'm a little bit disappointed, as I was so looking forward to see at least a shiny Barboach or Carvanha during the current event, but despite catching a trillion of them, no shiny. I was really looking forward to this event (not because of the shinies, but because I love most water Pokémon), but after the first two days I got a bit less excited, even bored... Pokémon they've announced (and some of them I'd need) are showing up really scarcely... haven't seen a single Wartortle, Poliwhirl, Lapras, Quilfish,Mantine, Lotad, Feebas, Piplup, Buizel or Wooper, and I'm passing watery locations on a daily basis. I have seen a single Seaking, and have only caught a single Finneon. Wailmer is a bit more common, but I'm still not even close to 300 candies, let alone 400). Yesterday I barely turned the game on, and today only for the sake of evolving Caravanhas and Barboaches to complete a quest. Well, at least I won't be sad I'm missing two days, as I won't be able to play the game during the weekend, as we'll be away visiting family.
I haven't found any shinies, either :/ I haven't been playing the game much this past week because of phone issues, though. I've seen some water Pokemon, but I live in a grass and water Pokemon paradise so it isn't unusual for me. They've mostly been Carvanha and Barboach, and Wailmer. I was happy the day I found a Feebas, so I'll call that my rare catch for this event.

Thank you all so much! NigheanRuadh, I was so happy to find Baby Hopscotch, as I've been looking for her especially this year. So hard to track down! She was at a table with many other foreign ponies, and I feel bad because I forget the seller's name. It was awesome seeing so many European ponies together.

Your Seaflower looks gorgeous. Congrats on your gets!
Thank you so much! You know how ridiculously hard it is to get a Seaflower or any of that set with good hair. I almost think someone (not the pony fair seller, but someone else) may have de-carded her, because I can't see her having such beautiful hair otherwise!

I would absolutely love to go to a pony fair - to have so many ponies together all in one place must be amazing! I love your haul: they could have come straight from my own wish list. Though I must admit: I am getting Taffeta next week, and she was an absolute steal from a lucky eBay BIN lot
It reminded me of my pony dreams, where I luck out and find a ton of ponies in a thrift store and get to rifle through them  Taffeta is beautiful! Congrats on a lucky BIN! Those are awesome. I don't see Taffeta up for sale often at all! But I love her white and blue colors ^.^

Eep...I managed an "Excellent" throw with a curve ball.  Totally accidental but I'll take it!  Also, I found my first shiny--it's a Seel.
Sent you a friend request, Pokeyonekenobie! ^.^ It’s so cool that you caught a shiny Seel. I’d love to run into one of those someday! I recently acquired my grail of shiny Growlithe via trading with a perfect stranger in front of Starbucks. Awkward but at least I have my shiny tiger-dog now, lol.

I went to the Pony Fair for the very first time back in July. I was one of the favorite experiences this year! I knew I'd want to buy a lot and saved up money and sold items from other collections so I'd be ready.

First, some pictures of the sights! I apologize for my lack of photography skills ^^;

I took a picture of my purchases altogether as something of a memory/keepsake photo. Many of these are ponies I'd wanted for a long time and I was so happy to find them ^.^

Leave a Whisper, your stallion collection is beautiful! Shy Violet, it's so cool that you could find Grand Champions in the wild. I also grew up with them and still have my childhood collection, or the bulk of it (my sister and I sold off some that we bought in our early teenage years and didn't play with much).

The white stallion was my first Grand Champion ever. The black flocked mare and foal in the lower right corner came soon after and really inspired my love for Grand Champions.

These guys were added to the collection next. I *loved* the brown mom and baby Tennessee Walkers in the lower right corner and stole the reddish stallion from the palominos to complete the Tennessee Walker family  The buckskin horse in the upper left came with a little stall set that the Walker family took over to live in, lol. I also had the barn playset.

Our collection of sound-making stallions. My favorite was the gray one in the upper left corner. The one without a leg was an elder stallion who had been through battles.

Miscellaneous horses who must not have featured in our games much because I can't remember much about them

The last Grand Champions to join the herd. The jumping stallion was fun to work. I think the Arabian mare is really pretty; she was a mail order that my mom ordered and apparently forgot to give me until she found her in a closet or something one day. There are two sets of clydesdale twins because both my sister and I wanted a set.

I have their accessories, but not an organized way of storing them. I have some micro minis as well that didn't make it into this picture.

I kept a lot of their cards, etc.

It's so fun to share my collection :) It was one of my favorite toys as a child.

Now I'm wondering if it is absolutely necessary to evolve that Dratini for the quest to accept the evolution, or if it can be any Dratini - or Dragonair, for that matter. I have had two Dragonairs for a long time now, one was kept to be evolved further, and I would then wait with evolving one of those into a Dragonite until I'm at that step of the quest. Which I might not be able to complete anyway, because it involves trading and I literally don't know a single person who plays and is local. Another quest has also been parking in my quest list for months because of this same reason.
That's tough that you don't have anyone to trade with :/ Again I wish that we could trade at a distance. I've found some trading partners through Discord; maybe you could find some close by people that way?

About the Dratini evolution chioce -- this might be important later on, but I'm not sure if you want to know more about the research task ahead of time, so I've put it in a spoiler. (I only learned this the other day when I got to this step XD):
Spoiler
I'm pretty sure you can evolve any Dratini to meet the requirements of Step 2 :) What you'll want to do and what I didn't do is save that Dratini-turned-Dragonair for Step 6, because one of the tasks is "Evolve a Dragonair"! The other two tasks on that step -- "Make a new friend" (again!) and "Win a level 3 or higher raid" give you 60 Dratini candies each. I'm pretty sure you can choose to evolve your Dratini-turned-Dragonair or the one you already have and had planned to evolve.

The checklist also reminded me how insanely few shinies I have... Squirtle, Magikarp, Hariyama (caught as a Makuhita), Ho-Oh, Poochyena, Aron, Swablu, Smoochum and Slakoth are the only ones I have in shiny form. I like Swablu the most, but Magikarp the goldfish is also very cute :)

I' m also happy to hear you are getting a shiny Growlithe - did the trade go through in the end?
Swablu is really cute as a shiny! You have some cool ones :) In about two weeks I'll be Ultra Friends with the two people (a second person also offered me a shiny Growlithe and I'll turn it into an Arcanine!) I'm trading with. It's so long to wait, lol.

Last week we spent a long weekend abroad, and holy boy, Novi Sad in Serbia is one big Slakoth nest! Remember how I said I felt lucky finding 3 Slakoths when we were abroad the last time, as my city just doesn't have them at all, and the single one I had before that was hatched? Here they were lying aroung everywhere! :O I wasn't playing a lot, but I still managed to catch enough to evolve one up until Slaking! I also found enough Skorupi to evolve one (this Pokémon is also totally uncommon here), so my weekend was totally successful Pokémon-wise. The only downside is that it's now slightly boring to be back home, there's hardly anything new coming up anymore here for me nowadays, so I'm starting to lose my interest...
Wow, that's a lot of Slakoth! I rarely see them, or Skorupi. I think I've only caught three Skorupi so far ^^; I have a lot of grass and bug Pokemon in my biome, and also a lot of cloudy weather that attracts normal and rock types.

I think the happiest thing that happened for me lately was catching a Groudon. I met up with some other trainers (from Discord) for a Groudon raid and they actually waited for me when there was only one minute left on the raid timer (how nice!). They laughed as I literally ran up to join them. We beat the Groudon and I caught it! This was after the discouragement of battling Kyogres and having them run away. I think Groudon is cool-looking, like a dragon ^.^

Today I listed a G1 bait lot that would be great for someone who likes to customize or restore ponies. There a few somewhat uncommon ponies in there as well, like Baby Crumpet, Star Hopper, and Baby Rainfeather. Also listed in separate auctions are sparkle Baby Sea Spray and Baby Wavy. Check them out here!

Wow, congrats on your shiny Latias, that's super cool!

I got lucky with the event this time - I was totally unaware, I opened the app quickly only to check if there are any pokéstops around (we were in an apartment on a holiday abroad, and we had a little rest time before we departed to an event that afternoon), and in the 5 minutes I had the app open I caught 3 Slakoths, 2 of which were shiny! (who came up with this colour choice though? Poor things look like they were shaved nekkid :P ) Slakoth is totally uncommon here as well (the single one I had so far was hatched), so I was super happy :)
Yay, I'm so happy for you! Shiny Slakoth does look pretty funky. Somehow I think the pink color is so random though that it's cute, lol.

As I understand it, there are 1 out of the 450, say, Growlithes you'll meet in the wild that are shiny -- pretty bad odds. But I tap on any Growlithe because hope springs eternal. There are a few species who are more likely to be shiny if they come from research tasks, raids, or are hatched from eggs (like some baby Pokemon). I think Community Day rates for the featured Pokemon are 1 in 25, and I've had good luck with that usually, but I'm sorry you haven't. Sometimes the odds just work out really bad even when shiny rates are increased.
Ah, I see. That really isn't a lot then... good luck with finding a shiny Growlithe! :) Are all Pokémon are available in shiny versions, or is this feature limited to certain species only? If they are, do you already have all the others, or is Growlithe just a special want?
Thank you! I was actually really happy this week because someone in my area has a shiny Growlithe they will trade me for a legacy move Gengar! Yay yay yay :)

Only certain species are available in shiny form right now; the infographic below is out of date but pretty accurate. (I forget who's left out of this chart -- probably some shiny legendaries, baby Pokemon, Pikachus with hats, and definitely the current shiny Alolans that came out this past Friday). Growlithe is just a special want for me :) I have some other shinies, mostly from Community Days; the non-Community-day one I'm proudest of is shiny Houndour. If it wasn't obvious I love fire-types and cat/dog-like Pokemon, lol.

Well, there is a new quest thing that requests 1 more friend.

7242 0663 8742

^ Anyone want help fulfill that quest?
I'm already friends with you or I totally would

I’ve also got this quest! And I’d love to have some more Pokemon Go friends either way so I thought I’d post here.

My friend code is 3073 8591 5546

I’ve sent you a request, banditpony!
Adding you! :)

Also, a heads up about the Jumpstart research if you haven't heard:
Spoiler
keep the Dratini you get from the first steps and don't evolve it yet because you'll need it to complete the second steps; and, after step 4? or so there's a guaranteed shiny Eevee encounter. Try to complete this step during partly cloudy weather, when normal Pokemon like Eevee are weather-boosted

Haruna, is there a specific tactic you can use for shinies, or are they just totally random? If it is the latter, I can imagine the frustration, as I guess you basically just have to catch every Pokémon you come across? I've only ever come across them a handful of times, and (IIRC) all of mine are from the wild (and none from events where shinies were said to appear more frequently...).

I've been negotiating a trade with a member on my local Discord server to get shiny Bulbasaur and shiny Dratini, so I'll be happy when we're Ultra Friends and that trade's completed. I have yet to find someone with a shiny Growlithe who needs what I have to trade, but you never know! Maybe I will find it in the wild.
