Off Topic / Re: Songs that always make you dance?
« on: April 19, 2015, 06:32:54 AM »
I usually listen to country music or NPR in the car, but some of my guilty pleasure dance songs that I can't help but move to are "Timber" -  Pitbull featuring Ke$ha and "All About That Bass" - Megan Trainor.

Pony Corral / Re: Who were your childhood ponies?
« on: April 18, 2015, 04:41:55 AM »
I was born in 1986, so my childhood ponies consisted of a number of the store releases from the late 80s and early 90s, mail orders, and whatever my grandmothers and I could find at flea markets and yard sales.   :)

Some of my favorite childhood ponies were: Parasol, Applejack, Firefly, BBE Baby Cuddles, Wind Whistler, Lil Cupcake and Lil Sweetcake

Pony Corral / Re: Baby Sugarcake just sold for how much?!
« on: April 12, 2015, 05:54:14 PM »
I sold one on the Arena a year or so ago for $150, which I felt was a solid offer for her at the time.  I feel like $125 to $200 is more in the range of what I'd consider "normal" for her.  She doesn't come up for sale all that often and I imagine a bidding war must have gotten heated or people put in really high maximum bids in hopes of sniping.   I've been surprised by how high prices have gone for other sought after/hard to find ponies on ebay recently, like recent auctions for the TAF babies.

Here is my fur baby, Raiden (pronounced like the Metal Gear Solid character), although we usually just call him by his nickname that stuck, "Plushie."  He likes to help me check out all the pony news here at the Arena......

Off Topic / Re: Am I the coolest mum in Dubai?

My vote is in!  Thank you for sharing your story.  Even if you don't feel you're "the coolest mother," you definitely sound like a super mom!

My fiance and I do not have a land line; we both use our cell phones.  I had a land line briefly in college, but got tired of all the telemarketers calling at all hours of the day and haven't had one since.

My parents and my fiance's parents have land lines and cell phones.  I think they still have land lines partly because it is included with their internet packages and partly because cell phone reception is still a bit unreliable in the rural areas where they live.

Sometimes I wonder if people enter *really* high maximum bids thinking that they'll certainly be able to snipe the pony, but other people have that same though and the item ends up selling for a lot more than ended.

For example, this is the scenario that I imagine happens sometimes:

Buyer 1 sees a really nice Nightglider for sale and thinks to herself, "Oh, I'll put $100.  There's no way she'll go for that and I should be able to snipe her as the auction ends."

Buyer 2 sees the same really nice Nightglider for sale and thinks, "Oh, I'll put $150.  There's no way she'll go for that and I should be able to snipe her at the end of the auction."

..............And then you end up with a Nightglider for over $100.  This is purely speculation, but sometimes I wonder if this happens when ponies end up selling for WAY more than what one would expect.

My favorite baby ponies are: Baby Sugarcake, Baby Lickety Split (especially the non-first tooth one), Baby Applejack, and any of the TAF babies.

If you could magically create an exact double/clone of one pony in your collection, which one would it be and why?
