Customs / Need rehair help in hard plastic ponies
« on: November 16, 2015, 05:14:09 PM »
I'm looking for advice on rehearing two G3 ponies that have chopped mane and tails

Is January Carnation and Starflower, the problem is that the plastic on them is very hard like the ones in G4zillas, but I can only use the needle and tread method for rehair, however the pony's plastic is so hard the needle can't get inside the hair plugs

You see I live in central america and can't use the tool and glue gun method because the only glue guns sold here are ones that use a very sticky/messy silicone type of glue that can't be used for ponies and I can't buy another type of glue gun online because the glue bars used for them will fall into the banned items at customs

So I can only use a rehair method that doesn't use glue and I could tie knots inside of the pony

I found out that polypropylene hair (the type that's client) is mush easier to work wit if before making the repair you  let it sit in hot water, later you use conditioner for at least half an hour and rinse, then you let it dry and comb it and is ready for make a repair

This way the polypropylene hair will become soft it would loose a lot of the stiff nature and is going to look similar to nylon and kind like saran

Here's and example on how a bend of  polypropylene heartless (light ice blue) looks mixed wit nylon and saran hair

Those are Cabbage Patch kids ponies http://rcdn-2.fishpond.com.au/0028/677/353/25125144/6.jpeg
Those two in the picture are original ones, they are many fake versions of them in different sizes

There are plush versions too

hmm.. I have Baby Berrytown but her color in the hair is not hard like the normal coloured ponies, I'm not sure but I think is meant to be  that way because the original hair color is white wit an added dyed

Anyways you can make an easy and cheap hair dye using hot water and kook-aid, I suppose you can find that one in South Africa

Typically I don't pay more than $20 for them and even then they have to be in really good shape for that.  They're not particularly sought-after so they're not very expensive.

I see thanks that's a relief, I paid a bit more than that for my two earths but the price included free shipping so I think I didn't do too bad  ^.^

Are Firefly and Glory more expensive?

Neat! I want to see the pictures too!! they are so cute  , I just got Blossom and Cotton Candy but they are the painted symbols ones

I'm curious, what are the prices for Firefly and Glory? painted or embroidered symbols?  :)

Pony Corral / Re: Mane rust?
« on: November 01, 2015, 12:48:39 PM »
I have seen this in some of the ponies that I have got at the flea shop, the ring at the tail has a lot of rust so the rust stains all the inside of the pony even in the deepest pars of the legs, I suppose this means that at one time the pony had water inside and the rust leaks out from all the orifices including the hair plugs holes at the mane

I doubt there were any plans for new Jem dolls, as they would be directly competing with the battle-of-the-bands Equestria Girls.

Which is part of the reason that set is weird to me.  If Hasbro KNEW they would be making a Jem movie, why not use the Rock 'n Roll theme for Jem dolls, not Equestria Girls dolls which could have literally any theme?  I don't get it.

I think Jem was quite simply incorporated into MLP as a better selling franchise. It's a safer bet, especially with Barbie's Rockin' Royals out as competition. It's a very poorly kept secret that Barbie and the Rockers did a lot of damage to the original Jem line, because Jem doll proportions made it harder to dress them with generic clothing and they were also more expensive. The line got cut at short notice but Barbie's line had an impact on it. Hasbro are safer with My Little Pony, because it's always been a more successful brand and the crossover in species allows them something that Barbie doesn't have.

In terms of new dolls, I didn't hear that story but I guess it didn't make it from production if that's the case. The sites that are usually on the pulse with stuff like this don't make any mention of a doll prototype for the movie line so it must have been shut down pretty quick as an idea.

Good explanation, I'm also assumning that Disney made pressure to Hasbro  to have ready the Desendants  dolls stock for the movie's premier and for the holidays, since Hasbro is also making the regular MLP, EG dolls and other toys of they own franchises I guess that they didn't had enough time, space or employees to further making experiments in the Jem movie dolls

That and plus the negative reaction of the first trailer

Off Topic / Re: Anyone seen the new Jem & The Holograms movie trailer?
« on: October 23, 2015, 03:18:23 PM »
Didn't Hasbro mentioned some months ago they were going to release dolls based in the movie? maybe they cancelled the plans after being the negative reaction from the first trailer?  :what:

I am not a fan of Jem, I've always been a Misfit, pretty much since I began collecting in 2001...but even though I don't like Jem herself, I feel she's been taken apart by this representation. Jerrica was at the very least driven to protect something important at the start of the series, however muddled and confused she became as the series went on. It doesn't actually begin with them being a successful anything. THe Holograms are formed in order to take back Starlight Music from Eric and the Misfits so that they can feed the foster girls, because the Starlight House is falling apart following Emmet's death. They learn about Synergy who helps Jerrica create a band to challenge Eric, and then winning the Battle of the Bands becomes a must because Eric's lackey burns their original house down. There are high moral stakes involved in Jem and the Holograms' beginning. Like I said, I'm a Misfit fan, but you can't fault the origins and the motivations behind the band being together.

By Starlight, I think they've been together as a band for a few months, but they're still growing, and again, the movie is in order to raise money for BaNee's eye surgery. Again, strong unselfish moral ground for taking part.

Jerrica had some serious identity issues by the end - running off with Riot without a word, creating a third persona to hide from Rio...and she does some really questionable things as the series continues, but it all began with the best of intentions, and it was none of it to seek stardom. It's probably the reason Jerrica became Jem, because Jerrica had no intention of being the 'star'.

And those intentions have been cheapened into starseeking teenage girls.

The film is probably fine. My one issue is that it's not a Jem film, and so shouldn't be piggybacking off the name of something far different.

Synergy's also one of my favourite characters, because she's obviously sentient and not just a machine. I haven't seen the second trailer, but I am actively disturbed by the mention of "robot". Synergy was the "ultimate holographic synthesiser". She wasn't a "robot".

Well written, congratulations  ^.^

Another thing that's important from the old Jem that appears to be  gone now is that at the time of the cartoon debut they were very few shows to show a strong willed and independent woman who doesn't need to be rescued or be helped by male characters in nearly every episodes  the only other I can think right now is She-Ra

Unlike most other characters at the time for example April O'neil, Smurfette, etc
