Pony Brag Arena / Pic heavy - my new G3s arrived!
« on: July 24, 2016, 11:18:31 AM »
This was my first pony mail in I forget how long, so I went a bit overboard and made it into a little photoplay.

So I bought a selection of G3s from the very kind Lady Starflower, and I thought I'd document them arriving. ^.^
Here are the ladies, freshly out of their travelling compartment:

But where was the welcoming committee?  The intrepid six decided to have a look about.
Crystal Lace was promptly distracted by All. The.  Books.

Luau spotted some G2s a few shelves higher and decided to ask for directions.

Gem Blossom wandered into a herd of Lalaloopsy ponies but was a trifle discomfited by their button eyes; she made a few new friends anyway.

Peachy Keen was very impressed by the Schleich pegasus' wings!

Butter Pop thought some of these teensy Dolly Mix ponies looked awfully familiar - and they were very chatty, too!

Rhapsody Ribbons encountered a helpful herd of mer-ponies, who were only too happy to help her find her way...

And finally, the wandering ponies were welcomed into the herd (though Crystal Lace kept casting longing glances toward that bookshelf...).

*Bonus*

There was also a stowaway in the G3s' travelling compartment... Cutie Mark Magic Flower Wishes!  She had a similar adventure, meeting up with a band of Blind Bag ponies...

... before finally being reunited with her G4 sisters!

Thanks again for the ponies, Lady Starflower!  They're a lovely addition to my ever-growing collection.  And taking photos of their 'arrival adventure' was loads of fun, too! ^.^

Pony Corral / Re: How do you prioritize your pony hit list?
« on: July 22, 2016, 02:02:10 PM »
I'm a buyer of opportunity, myself.  I have a general idea of which ponies I'm after, but I'm well into the harder-to-find ones (at least as far as G1s go) that it usually boils down to serendipity.

*snip*
Depends on how much they owe me and if they ratted me out to the Coppers see!  :pout:
*snip*

Ohmigosh, too cute!  That's exactly the train of thought I boarded too when reading hit list.

Beautiful collection, and what lovely photos, too! :lovey:  Thank you for sharing your collection with us all!

PM sent! ^.^

sorry for the duplicate Lickety Split

She's beautiful! (And hi, Spike!  Didn't see him at first; my screen eats the sides of photos...)  I'm not a huge fan of the BBE babies, though I wound up with a few... yours is such a sweetheart, ohmigosh! :lovey:

Oh my gosh I'm so happy what play set have you got the 3 on   :)

That's the (very dusty) Fisher-Price Imaginext Robin Hood's Forest playset - it's had an eventful life chez Sugar!  I scored it at thrift, and it's hosted my son's Little People, then his Take-Along Thomas trains, then the Bob the Builder machines, and now it's a fun prop for pony photoshoots. ^.^  Hides the washing machine, too (the very best light in the house is, sadly, in the laundry room of all places ).

Here's a few!

(I was just playing about taking photos, perfect timing!)
Wind Whistler, Lofty, and (I believe) Baby Lickety Split are from my original collection; I had a Gusty too, but this one is a rehomed darling. ^.^

Pony Corral / Re: Has anyone lost their childhood ponies?
« on: July 19, 2016, 07:44:33 PM »
I lost my favourites from my childhood herd in a move. >_<  Least I still have the rest... and I'm happy to have provided homes for the long-lost ponies of many other ppl!

I just hope that wherever my lost ponies wound up, they're with someone who loves them as much as I did. ^.^

68
Nice find! ^.^  Looking forward to seeing him all spruced up!  (Isn't fixing up previously loved ponies fun?  I swear, I never knew I'd enjoy cleaning so much...

She looks lovely!  Great find! ^.^ And she and Milky Way look so happy to be reunited, that's wonderful!

(Also, seconding the accessory love - they're both beribboned and bejewelled so beautifully! :lovey:)

Welcome back to collecting! :frolic: I'd love to see photos of your latest ponies - did you get the So Soft or Non So Soft versions?  (Just nosey, that's me )

I wish they would go back to G1 style ponies too!  G4s are cute, and I love my G2s and G3s, but there was just something so special and kinda magickal about G1s.  (And for me it wasn't even childhood per se - I saw my first pony when I was ten or so, and I was collecting all the way through till my early twenties, the first go-round!)

Congrats!  That's the sort of pony jackpot we all dream of!  Hats off to Grandma, she deserves Queen of the Yard Sales! :worshippy:

Hi, [you]!

I spoilered the TL;DR part - just the fine print/details on what I'm looking for and condition and stuff.  I blather, sorry.  Skip to the want list if you like. ;)

Spoiler
So I finally sat down and worked out what ponies I'm most looking for.  Again.  I'm still reorganizing my sales and trade threads, so I'm mostly on a buyer's basis at the moment. ^.^

Can't buy it *all* right the now, but feel free to pm me, and we'll talk. ^.^

My eBay feedback as a buyer (under the handle sugar.lightning) is at 188 and my Arena feedback stands at +76 (no negative feedback). ^.^  I'm in Canada, and I'm happy to purchase internationally - hey, it's frequently less expensive for shipping than North American post fees.  Go figure.

I'm not a terribly picky collector.  Except for So-Softs - flocking loss is beginning to really creep me out.  Must have really fluffy So Softs - or darned close to it.  I do like my ponies to look nice, but after twenty-odd years and heavens only know how much playwear, I can fully understand some, um, baggage?  Hey, I have my share too.  Anyway, about the only things that make me say an outright no to a pony are holes, missing limbs, looking like it's been used for a teether, oozing with rust/mould, or out-and-out burns.  I can overlook mild marker, mild biro/highlighter marks, names/marks under the hooves, regrind, mild cancer spots, mild chews, etc., and I can fix or live with a lot of other problems. ^.^  Thank you, Arena, for sharing all your knowledge about pony restoration! :grouphug:

On to the want list!

Ooo, you have some very pretty ponies (I spied two of my favourites, Tropical Delight and Autumn Crisp!)!  Congrats on growing your collection so well and so quickly! :cheer:

(It's probably just my tablet, but I couldn't see your DnPs... :()

It could be because I moved the photos to another album?
I'll fix it right away

There they are!

They look lovely!  Just out of curiosity, do their mechanisms still work?  (I have a Swinger who was all rusted inside - it was awful to get him fixed up... hee hee, yeah, for some reason I headcanon Swinger as a boy pony, go figure )  Anyway, that's a beautiful collection!  Well done, you!
