2018 is going to be the year I publish my novel Entwined, so I have a lot ahead of me. Editing / revisions, getting a cover designed, getting a website and proper social media up and running, developing a marketing strategy...

But far more important is getting the other books in the series written. Continuity and consistency are important in self publishing.

I also want to read more, get back to blogging (though whether I'd prefer to do that about books or music I'm unsure) and add a few more ponies to my collection.

Off Topic / Favorite Things 2017!
« on: December 25, 2017, 06:54:08 AM »
We are one week from the start of a new year. With that thought in mind, I thought it might be fun to start a thread talking about our favorite things of the past year. What were your favorite songs, movies, toys, books? Did you try a new food you now love? Travel somewhere you've always wanted to go? Let's talk about everything that made 2017 fabulous!

Top 10 Songs:

10. Attention by Charlie Puth
09. Side to Side by Ariana Grande
08. Strip that Down by Liam Payne
07. Something Just Like This by Coldplay / Chainsmokers
06. Havana by Camilla Cabello & Young Thug
05. Ciao Adios by Anne Marie
04. Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran
03. Gorgeous by Taylor Swift
02. I Feel It Coming by The Weeknd
01. I'm The One by DJ Khalid, Justin Beiber, etc.

Best TV / Movie Discoveries:

I found Lucifer this year and really love that.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Spiderman Homecoming were both good.

Food: the More-ning McWrap from McDonalds takes the prize here--I love the one with egg, sausage, hashbrown and cheese.

I finished the rough draft of my fourth novel, formatted it and sent it to myself to do edits as a physical book via CreateSpace.

Jay and I went through all three 999 games and all three Danganronpa games this year.

I got my new computer, monitor, desk, printer, mechanical keyboard, etc.

What did you love? What great things happened to you? It's time to sing 2017's praises! :)

It's 4:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve here. We are just starting to prepare all the snacks we'll be eating as our evening meal.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope that you and yours have a wonderful day and a happy new year.

The holiday food is a big deal around here. We are having snack platters for Christmas Eve--chicken strips / nuggets, mozza sticks, veggie trays, crackers, cheese, kabosa, etc. For breakfast we'll have eggs, ham, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, rolls, etc. and for Christmas dinner it will be turkey, mashed potatoes / dressing, gravy, carrots, peas, turnip, corn, salad, a veggie / gerkins / cheese platter, cranbery sauce, and then apple and blueberry pies for dessert.

Sabine Wren doll from the Forces Of Destiny series and the first two episodes of Rebels season 4 off Amazon digital.

Those dolls look cool. I can't decide if I want the Rey with BB8 or if I'm going to wait for the Rey and Kylo 2 pack that is releasing, though. I want BB8 and Kylo, but I don't need two Rey dolls.

I can totally relate to the whole 'retail workers trapped in holiday music prison' thing. That happens to my bf each year and he despises holiday music with a fiery passion. As for me (a big holiday music lover) some of my favorites include:

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Jingle Bell Rock
Little Saint Nick
Santa Tell Me
Mary Did You Know?

I also love a lot of traditional Christmas songs. My favorite is O Holy Night, followed closely by It Came Upon A Midnight Clear and O Come All Ye Faithful.

Spoiler
I have not been to see it myself, but I am not adverse to spoilers and it sounds like some interesting stuff happens between Kylo and Rey. I'm all about getting those two together, so I am intrigued. I am curious to see how I will feel about what they did with Luke. From what I researched, Mark Hamill was kinda in shock when he read the script. Porgs also look super cute and I can't wait to see them.

It starts November 1st and it does not stop until the holiday season ends. There are some pieces of holiday music that I actually keep in rotation on my playlists year round.

« on: December 18, 2017, 01:00:14 PM »
I haven't been stolen from, but it's not for a lack of people trying. Someone tried to use my account to buy $1600 in guns in the states but my bank froze the transaction and made me get a new account because I live in Canada and my account had nowhere near that much in it. Definitely a wake up call! In my case the info was likely taken from having my cc info on a retail website since they sent a letter months later indicating they had been compromised shortly before the attempted theft happened. I am much more careful where I put my credit card info now.

The pressure to act more grown up in today's society is very strong. My niece was done with toys by the time she was 7. The only things she cares about are her ipad and iphone. I think that tech has altered the game a lot--provided that parents allow this, of course.

Yes, this is my guess too.

Ugh, I hate snow and ice. Where's the comes Dec. 23rd at midnight and leaves at 1 a.m. on Boxing Day option? I suppose that's not so realistic, so I picked December 21st. :)

I chose Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles. I loved DW as a kid and got into Gargoyles much later. Our access to these shows was probably quite different up here.

Off Topic / Home Office Advice / HP Instant Ink?
« on: October 28, 2017, 03:42:53 PM »
Hey guys! I'm heading out early next week to get all the things I need to renovate my office. I'm buying a new pc, a desk, a mouse and keyboard, a tv (to be used as TV and monitor) and a printer. (I'm waiting until next summer to upgrade my chair--I have a fabulous chair for now, so there's no need to switch that yet. For anyone else thinking of setting up any office or workspace, though, the chair is your #1 priority--ergonomics are everything.)

Three questions:

Any tips or suggestions on particular brands or items? (I'm a writer, if that helps any.)

Does anyone here use / has anyone here used HP's Instant Ink program? It sounds fabulous, but it's a company's job to make their services sound great. I'm interested in real-world feedback.

Anyone interested in before and after pictures once this is all set up?

Thanks. :)
