For a doll that is meant to be played with eg GR Clawdeen and Venus, I wonder why they made them so fragile.

GR Clawdeen is slightly more excusable because she is more of a deluxe type doll, but Venus... yeah. It doesn't make sense. It's probably just cheaper to put barely enough fuzz to cover the paint than make it thick enough to withstand light play -_-

Bit of a word of warning... I picked up a GR Clawdeen on clearance. Saw that mess of box hair and immediately decided it should be fixed.
I've heard things about the flocking coming off when touched by water, so I made well sure not to get it wet...

...except the flocking rubbed off where I was holding her head.

Let this be a lesson: that stuff be fragile! It doesn't look too bad, worst comes to worst I can always take it all off and paint the leopard pattern on the scalp instead.

I've been looking on and off, but I just cannot seem to find Jinafire or Catrine in Melbourne yet. Has anyone seen either in Aus?

Jinafire has been spotted, I think at Toy World. They seem to be getting deluxe Scaris cases in now as well as GNO. Catrine has yet to be seen.

Just wondering, I wasn't sure what rawhide was so looked it up on Google. Still need some clarifications though - are they treats similar to pigs ears?

The Dollhouse / Re: Monster High Glue Seepage Thread
« on: March 18, 2013, 03:23:53 AM »
I think someone asked how to get the glue off their clothes maybe earlier in the thread and Mattel replied that the glue could be washed off with warm water. I used to wash all my dolls with warm water to get the 'helmet head' gel out though and none have been affected so far... so no clue.

How I usually keep my dolls:
- Out of direct sunlight
- Temperature I can't really control, so the dolls end up withstanding conditions of ~40C during some hot summer days however this is dry heat
- I wash them once to be free of the gel, comb the hair and then usually leave it for display. Some of the older dolls were washed in warm water, now I wash in cold water whenever possible.
- Most of my dolls are Indonesian
- The one time the house flooded I moved all the dolls into the car boot until everything dried out, even though the room they were stored in was not affected and they did not get wet.

I'm starting to think it's pot luck as to those dolls that will develop it or not... but that washing with warm water may trigger it early.

I actually don't mind the idea, it's kinda cute... though the execution perhaps leaves a bit to be desired.

It guess it depends on tastes mejohnson85. Some won't be bothered by it at all.

That said, I just saw the two-packs and the Die-ner... and I like Die-ner Lala, now I just seem like the biggest hypocrite in the thread. Woops.
Also like both two-packs... and the extra Opie... oh dear, my wallet cries. But then I realise I don't like any of the PD dolls or want the Favourites re-releases, so I can save up.

Things arrive First Class from the US to my place anytime after a week and a bit... quickest package I've had was 10 days, and it's usually not longer than two weeks. Anytime past that and I would get concerned too but I still think the buyer was hasty to open a case on you...

Just saw pics of Catty Noir after being away from the forum for the weekend... rather disappointed that she's slathered in pink. I got tired of it from MLP, and it's part of the reason why I originally liked MH, it used many different colors in fun and creative designs... but if you wanted lots of pink, you could buy a Draculaura. Now we also have Cupid, Rochelle (to a lesser extent), Howleen starting to have pink hair, the genie girl and the new werecat with it... don't get me wrong, I like pink in moderate doses. I'm just thinking it's starting to become a bit overkill.

Plenty down under at TRU. That would probably be because of the price tag of $70 though.

The 3-pack was also here in Canada :) (Walmart exclusive like in the States.) It was $34.99 here--I miss the days of our prices being on par with the US! :P

I think my brain has mentally stored Canada as same continent as US so therefore falls under 'States' in terms of memory of things being sold... @_@

Off Topic / Re: Anybody jailbroken/unlocked their smart phone?
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:58:14 AM »
Please note that in the US, if you purchased a phone after January 26th, it is illegal to unlock it.  It is still legal to jailbreak a phone, though, through at least 2015.

Really? Wow  so I guess if someone has a locked phone their only solution is to buy a new one with the carrier they want. That just sounds like a royal pain in the butt.

I don't have a smartphone or other device so I can't talk much about the jailbreaking, I just found that most curious

As if the prices weren't already high enough.

Parcels up to 500g by Air are now $13.70 to US and $17.70 to UK.... but it gets worse the higher you go up. 500g-1kg is $38.05 to the UK and when accounting for the security surcharge, $37.90 to the US! Why bother selling international...

Pretty sure the three-pack was only ever sold in the US, as this was fairly early-on. It's been a while though so maybe I'm mistaken :lookround:
