That is really cool! She's a pony lover, through and through. :)

I love unusual food! Sea urchin, eel, caviar, etc. I will try anything once. I recently tried Spotted Dick in a can... It was okay. Also tried some strange candy that was called "egg yolk nougat" -- not good.

Off Topic / Re: How was your Black Friday shopping?
« on: November 30, 2013, 08:03:39 AM »
This was my first time ever doing Black Friday. I worked 11 hours morning to night Friday, so I opted to go late Thanksgiving night. I know that makes a lot of people angry, but most of us have had jobs where we work on holidays. I once worked a 13 hour day on Christmas day. This is adult life. Anyways, I was surprised at all the deals I actually got. DEB Store (a clothing store) was offering everything at 50% off! I got $100 worth of clothing for half of that (which is pretty awesome because their prices are already pretty good.) I got my mom a pair of $80 boots at BonTon for $20, and a scarf for her at JCPennys for $10.00, which isn't too great of a deal, but oh well. I got my grandma a hoodie at Aeropostale (she likes that brand) for $12, normally $44.00 and a jewelry set for $4.50 at JCPennys. Got the boyfriend a shirt for $7.99 (normally $24.99) and a nice pro slingshot for $10.00 (not sure what the original price was) for $10.00. I got all but two of the Harry Potter DVDs for myself for a total of $12 at Walmart.

I am already a bargain/clearance shopper, but I was pleasantly pleased to get a lot more for family and myself than I could have afforded if they weren't on sale. I do not make much money after my bills and student loans are paid, and I was worried about everyone I need to buy for this year. Not everyone likes handmade gifts. (I sew/make jewelry, etc.) Our mall was not crowded at all, and everyone I encountered was friendly, but I live in a rural area. However, apparently Walmart was a warzone. I didn't go to Walmart until like 2am, after all the chaos settled down.

Wow! I also saw these for sale at Claire's but I couldn't reach up high enough to grab on to see the price on them. (I am short.)

Pony Corral / Re: Bait or No Bait?

I err on the side of never bait-ing G1s. Someone out there will buy them and restore them if they are unwanted. G1s will continue to become fewer and fewer as time goes on -- many get thrown out, destroyed, lost, or collected by people like us... etc. And, with boy ponies, a lot of people will still take them.

I think a lot of people now only use newer Gens for customization.

After reading the comments... I am confused. Are only the special ones metal, or are they actually all metal?

Pony Corral / Re: How Do I Keep My Cat Away From My Ponies?
« on: November 26, 2013, 12:16:22 PM »
I have two cats. One does the same thing with everything. I would try the rosemary idea or get a cabinet... I keep my ponies in a room that is cat free 95% of the time.

Probably stock as everyone said. I hate when movies/games/etc use that same few stock screams... Like the one in the intro to Ahh! Real Monsters is also used in a zillion other things. Why?!

What does the dull hair look like? I want one of the Equestria Girl dolls but not if their hair is all crazy.

Pony Corral / Re: Observing Bronies in their Natural Habitat
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:37:59 AM »
It is easy for newer fans of MLP to be dismissive about older gens.. Sometimes, you have to have experienced it to feel the magic... Growing up in the 80s/90s was a great time for toys. My memories of MLP from those days are some of the best. The focus of kids cartoons wasn't so much on comedy as it is now, too, so I can see how it is hard for some Bronies to see why people like G1, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the insight!

Pony Corral / Re: Lack of new characters: Anyone else worried?
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:17:26 AM »
It is just strange to me how G1s came in such an awesome array of different ponies, but was still successful for so many years... yet now, they hold back and use only a few of the same characters over and over. Have children changed? Do kids want the same toys? Or are enough people getting into MLP now to keep up the demand for the core 6 ponies? Like everyone said, obviously it is a winning formula... but why?

It makes me sad that my walmart has had the exact same single brushables for over a year now. :T I like G4s but I only have a few because there just aren't many around here that I want.
