Pony Corral / Re: New MLP Nail Polish

I tried out the nail decals. Here's a closeup.

And here's a shot of a decal on my thumb. So the polish I'm wearing is one coat of Let Your Twilight Sparkle over a dark blue/purple polish (Fingerpaint's Art of Theft), and the dots were made with One Polished Pony and She's A Mane-Iac. This photo was taken in the shade.

So the nail decals are water slide which means you have to cut them out and dip them into water for a bit. Eventually the decal should slide off the backing paper and you'll be left with a semi-transparent decal.... Except that didn't happen. I cut the decal out as neatly as I could, but the backing paper just didn't want to come off. That's why there's still a white border around Twilight's head. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but these decals were awful to use. :( I wouldn't recommend getting the set just for the decals. The nail polish in the set is fantastic though.

Cool! I might pick up a few  What do the nail decals look like? Thanks for sharing, I had no idea that MLP nail colors are being sold!

The decals have 2 rows of the main characters heads, 2 rows of the elements of harmony, and then a bunch of single rows of hearts, butterflies, rainbows, and stars.  And I can't find instructions for them, but I think they're water slide decals... I'll probably paint my nails soon so I'll try them out and report back. :D

Pony Corral / New MLP Nail Polish

I haven't seen anyone post about this before so I thought I'd post some pics. The nail polish company China Glaze released a bunch of MLP themed nail polish recently. I picked up some last night and the lady working at the store said they'd been super popular. I couldn't find some of the shades I was looking for. :( If you're looking to get some, I'd recommend going sooner rather than later.

Here's China Glaze's official site promo of the colors. They're a little more accurate than my photos.

On to the pictures! First up is the whole haul. One Polished Pony set comes with some nail decals and the Songbird Serenade set comes with two Best Friends rings. The black polish in the Songbird Serenade set has a beautiful blue/purple shimmer to it. The blue polish in the One Polished Pony set has a lovely, soft blue/white shimmer to it. It's more of a sky blue than my photo shows.

Next is a close up of Where's The Party Cannon At? BTW, glitter nail polish is reeeeeeally hard to capture accurately in a photo. This polish has big, multi-color sparkles in it. Lot's of fun to look at it in the light.

And this is a close up of Let Your Twilight Sparkle. Again, glitter is hard to photograph. This color shifts from blue to purple and has subtle sparkles of blue and purple glittter in it.

China Glaze is carried in Sally Beauty and Ulta stores. Although Ulta is dicey about carrying the limited edition sets. I've heard China Glaze can be found in the UK too, but I can't confirm that. If you know where else you can find the brand, please post!

Del, where are you coming from? I'm sure someone can give you a ride. If you are coming from the South, let me know. We'll squeeze you in somehow!

I'm right by Minnetonka. I can't recall anyone else being from my area, but hopefully it won't be a problem. My husband usually tries to make sure I can have the car whenever I need it, but he won't be able to help it if his job requires overtime. That's the only thing we can't predict!

haha Thank you for the shameless PM Aurora.   I don't have reliable access to a car for the foreseeable future so you can put me in the maybe list. I'll be able to come as long as my husband doesn't need to work that day.

Oh, and Sugarberry is very cute and would make a good host pony.  :accomplished:

It's a little too early for me to say yes or no for sure, but I'll definitely try. :D I don't know how well my allergies will hold out though. Are there any horses on your farm?

Pony Corral / Re: My pony collection or my spouse (serious advice)

There's been some great advice in this thread! I hope you really consider all of it.

I'm laying in bed right now trying to think of something he could over spend on that would upset me. I'm not sure how this will come off but sometimes he can put too much into savings out of his paycheck. To a point where he can only buy groceries once or can't really help buy baby clothes.
This really bothers me. He's so frugal that he'll just refuse to spend money on groceries or baby clothes if he feels he hasn't saved enough? That's a pretty big red flag if that's actually happening. Honestly it sounds like both of you have problems with money. You just both swing in wildly different ways of viewing money.

Even though he's not abusive, he sounds controlling in a passive aggressive kind of way. He guilt tripped you into selling your other collection because it was unsightly to him... That's another big red flag to me.

I'm not trying to excuse you from blame though. You did mess up and you recognize that so that's good. You need to stop downplaying what you did too. A few hundred dollars isn't a "little bit of debt" for most people. That's a lot! Especially with a baby to consider. And borrowing from friends and family is something you should only consider doing in an emergency for like, an unexpected hospital bill. A collection of any kind is not something you should ever borrow money for.

I have to agree with the people saying you should get therapy with him. It sounds like there are deeper issues at work here.

In the short term though, you need to get out of debt. Pick your top 10 faves and sell the rest. You can always buy them back at a later date when your spending is under control. My husband and I both collect toys and our purchases just come out of our monthly "fun money" fund. We have a set amount each month for fun stuff like movies, dining out, games, toys, etc. You can always do the old money in an envelope trick if you find it too hard to keep a mental tally. All you do is make a withdrawl for however much fun money you get that month. Stick it in an envelope and only use the money in that envelope to pay for things. When you run out before the end of the month, that's it. No more spending. But if you manage to save some, you can roll it over into next month! It's a nice way to really see your spending in action and makes you think about where your money is going.

My set was perfectly normal. No complaints. Was there any pony in particular you're concerned about?

Yay! I'm so excited for the Xmas meet. :D

Dear Santa,
Favorite pony: G1 Applejack (and Starglow too ;) )
Likes: art, crafts (I knit and crochet), pretty much every gen of pony, chocolate, video games, travel, sewing, cute animals--especially anything with a bunny on it!
Dislikes: bugs and spiders, spicy and/or sour food
Wish items: Any show and glow pony besides Starglow and Dazzleglow would be amazing! G4 Minty. G1 accessories and merch of all kinds, I barely have any. Artwork. Handmade things. A sketchbook. Stickers (both the pony and non-pony kind). A growler of good local beer. Chocolate is always appreciated too.

Edit to add: I'm not super picky about ponies. I mostly care about the display side looking nice. I'm also OK with Christmas themed stuff.
