I recommend boxes if there is any sculpting on them at all. And tissue and bubble wrap and maybe even a second box (which is what I think I did with the Rainbow of Light custom I did awhile back). And delivery confirmation and insurance.

Beautiful job so far! And I love natural colored ponies!  If you used acrylic you probably don't have to seal her if you don't want to.  What color(s) are you planning for the hair?

Beautiful! And Kudos for thinking outside the box and going with a blend! I think the only thing you might consider in the future is if you might want to make the tail longer in the future (Long tails or sexy!!!*)

*"Long tails are sexy" is my own personal opinion and not necessarily shared by everyone.  It is best to use your best judgement on what will look best for any custom or restore you are planning.

Customs / Re: Is this cancer? :(
« on: February 10, 2012, 04:50:16 PM »
And how can you tread the cancer?

I have had some Mild success at arresting the spread with the following treatment:

1)Boil the pony in water with mild dish soap
2)Thoroughly clean the pony (inside and out if possible)
3)Treat the pony's body with medium strength athlete's foot cream.  (after experimenting, I found the weekest strength didn't work. I haven't had time to test the strongest formula.  In fact I have one pony that experienced some lightening of her cancer spots with the medium strongest combined with sun light- but she was the only pony I've tested that sees to have responded really well. Most ponies I've tested have negligible lightening with this.  And I still need to run more tests.

I would say bait her.  White ponies are great for baits because they are easy to repaint.

I appreciate all the answers you guys. The real problem is that I've gotten attached to the poor guy, and I know a lot of people would take him... but I don't know if I could part with him. I've had him for just about a year now. I feel bad for him. I think now that I know the community won't rain fireballs and fakies on me for doing it, I think I'll go ahead and customize him, give him a new lease on life. :) (gosh I just noticed I get really sentimental about my ponies....  )

You know, I think if you wanted to give him a new lease on life, that would be fine.  If I were to buy him from you I'd probably end up customizing him too.   And sometimes a boy pony with pastel colors just begs to be somebody else. for example:

I had a boy Daddy Bright Bouquet.  I felt bad for him because his symbols and everything seemed so bland. plus I only had the one.  It's not like I had a family for him.   So he got a new identity.

Daddy Parasol.  And I'm pretty sure the person who bought him from me gave him at least a wife when he got there. And I think he's much improved from his original nondescript hair and symbols. He had a clean body and that's all I needed to give him a better identity. And no one stoned me with fakies either. ;)

So do what you feel is best for him. And then show us pictures!

Still working on painting the base. It has and will continue to take lots of coats before I get it looking how I want. Pony is painted but bald. I suppose I could work on hairing her today. It wouldn't take too much effort. she's been very agreeable  so far.  My only concern is the tail....
