Sparkle ponies (like the G1 set) are some of my favorite ponies, and I'd love to make customs with translucent glittery plastic! But I'm not sure how, besides cannibalizing G1 sparkle baits...
but I'd love to make a yellow, pink, or neon green sparkle custom someday!

Ice, you have to ask a mod I believe to get a custom rank.

Most of the G1 Newborn ponies have names that don't seem to match the symbols, in my opinion. Dibbles, Dabbles, Jangles, Tangles, etc.

I got mine for $35 maybe a little over a year ago... $100 surprises me.

hee hee felt like making a silly post.
But I ordered a hank of hair about 12 days ago, and it hasn't come yet (which isn't that unusual), but I'm impatient! *zooms around excited*

Hiya! I don't know how set up polls on the new Arena, so I'll just ask - Do you guys have a max spending limit for the price of 1 pony? For example, one day I'll spend more because I'll have more money =p but for now I'm trying to buy ponies that are under $30 per. Does anyone else limit that way and OMG is it as hard for you as it is for me?

I think I"ll try and paint over it. Usually its not a problem, as I tend to do FBR anyway, but this time I wanted to just paint symbols... oh well.
Btw, if the stains haven't sunk all the way through and are just stubbornly on the surface, I found that the sanding I tried worked pretty well, and if you polish it with a very fine grit paper afterwards, the finish isn't bad either. Just don't breathe in the plastic particles. It completely removed the blue pen marks on her neck, too.

Well, a baking soda/vinegar mix didn't work (it fizzed nicely though)... we don't have peroxide in the house, though =/ or I'd try that.

1. Sealing the pony I always seal my custom paint jobs, but I don't use Mod Podge after mishaps caused by (I think) humid weather, and some streakiness from not thinning it out first. I use DuraClear varnish, usually in matte unless I want a shinier finish for some reason. The varnish is just a little thicker than water, I just paint a thin layer on. The thicker the layer, the shinier it is, but the longer it takes to dry. The paint can still chip a little after applying varnish, but its MUCH more waterproof. I cover any part of the body that I've painted.
2. Rhinestones I usually use rhinestones that come with adhesive backs; they're easy to find. Its fine to glue them on, I just have to be more careful not to use too much glue or it gets gloppy. With both, I attach them after I've sealed the pony, because they look better if you don't put sealant over them, plus its really not necessary as long as you're careful handling them.
3. Gluing the head? The only heads I've glued are ones where I had to because I ripped the neck so it wouldn't snap back in. In those cases I used krazy glue. Superglue wasn't quite strong enough.
4. Nail Decals? I haven't tried one yet, but I'm thinking of trying a temporary tattoo thing on my next custom. In this case, I'd also try and seal it so it doesn't peel off, but with a very VERY thin layer so the tattoo is not damaged.
5.Dyeing the pony? I've never dyed a pony body, but I have dyed the hair. Salt helps a little with retaining the color, in my opinion.

I've got a baity Sunny Daze I cleaned up, but I can't get her symbol all the way off to customize...
I've tried scrubbing it in detergent, and soaking and scrubbing with 100% acetone nail polish remover, and sanding the body down a bit. I've got all the stains off except for that pesky ring of yellow sun. When I look on the inside of her body, I can faintly see the yellow stain from the inside as well. Did the ink stain all the way through the plastic?
Any ideas? As a last resort, I can try and paint her new symbol to cover up the yellow ring, but I'd rather get it off if I can...

Let's see.. I have a jean jacket signed by all the boys of Kill Hannah prior to Johnny Radtke leaving... I have a sticker signed by the members of Clear Static... I have a magazine-style program signed by Michael K. Lee (theater actor)... I was pretty sure I had something signed by Shiny Toy Guns, but I can't remember what... it was a long time ago lol... and my absolute favoritest autograph ever: a pony I commissioned from Kalavista and signed by James Marsters! visitors can't see pics , please register or login
