I agree with the zip ties!  I just started using that method myself and love it!

Customs / Re: Best way to patch holes with apoxie sculpt?
« on: May 16, 2013, 08:47:26 AM »
I saw you didn't get any responses so I figured I'd toss in my two cents.  If you're having to sculpt the entire ear I would probably try to use something to brace the apoxie sculpt, just for strength.  Either some mesh, or using armature wire (or paperclips), or even a little bit of aluminum foil to create a basic ear shape and build off of.  If you look in the tutorials sticky, there's a tutorial in there for reposing figures, and I would probably follow similar tips to that in order to rebuild ears.

Good luck, and hopefully you'll post some pics of how it turns out!

Pony Corral / Re: Where did the socks on ponies thing come from?
« on: May 16, 2013, 08:43:14 AM »
If I remember correctly, Equestria Daily did an article about MLP merchandise that had socks featuring FiM ponies on them, and Egophiliac drew Luna wearing socks after that.  And then it just kind of snowballed I think!

I've bought duplicates of the same pony before with the intention to use for customizing.  Pinkie Pie is a pretty good choice to me for an earth pony, because I like the indentation for her eyes for most ponies -- she comes off as a little more playful than the Applejack indentation, which is much more serious.

I think I saw that BIN as well, and while the picture shows five, it's actually only an auction for one pony, according to the description!

Shy Violet, she looks fantastic!  Although I agree, I think glitter on the symbol would be a nice touch!

I love those Mighty World sets though! Considerably cheaper than Takara!

Galactica, that candy house is super cute!  Is that re-ment or some other brand?  I'm not familiar with it!

:hifive: Hey there! Your Fizzy is beautiful too  Yeah I used a Lyra, she happens to be plentiful atm so I have a little stash of Lyra's for customs. I'm making a Fizzy for another member here and now my daughter wants one too  I'm going to be Fizzied out. You did a great job painting her body! I'm scared to do that but will have to plunge in soon because there aren't body colors for all the girls I want to make. Please share your tips for making it look even  :worshippy:

Haha Fizzied out!  No wonder everyone wants one, she looks beautiful!  My tricks aren't anything terribly exciting -- I use a couple colors of acrylic paint in a mix (more than one color seems to help with brush lines for some reason), thin it with a bit of water, and use several thin thin thin layers.  It'll look crummy at first and you'll freak out if it's your first time painting a pony by hand but the end result is so much nicer!  And then a good top coat is important -- I like to use Testors Dullcote for the body, and that always seems to help smooth out the appearance of the couple of tiny brushstrokes that are left over.

I can't wait to see your other TE's!  I'm sure they will turn out fantastic!

I love Twinkle Eyes! What a great thread idea :)

They all look beautiful ♥

Here's my Fizzy :) And I decided to paint her eyes with glitter instead of using gems

And I have a Sweet Pop and Masquerade in the works. I can probably post pics of Sweet Pop tomorrow, I just need to go buy some yellow paint tonight to do the sticks on her popsicle :)

I'd like to eventually make all the TE's into G4's so I'm also interested to hear which paint people used for Mimic :) I don't have my own to match either.

Hey there G4 Fizzy buddy!  :tackleglomp:  I think I remember seeing your post that you used a Lyra right?  That's a great color match!  Back when I made mine I was having a hard time finding a Lyra for my collection, much less to bait, so I had to take the hard way and paint up a Rarity instead.   Your Fizzy looks great!  I love the glittery symbol!

Gorgeous as always!  I'm always impressed how quickly you seem to create these too!

Here's a picture of a G4 Fizzy that I completed and shared here a couple of months ago.  Instead of trying to mimic the TE effect of the original her irises are a mix of about four colors of glitter.

None of this is Re-ment, but I totally prefer to display my G4 brushables and custom ponies diorama-style instead of all in a row on a shelf.  It takes up more space, but it makes me smile every time I see it!

There are four playsets in these pics:  The first two are from the Lil Woodzeez general store, the third is the Lil Woodzeez bakery, the fourth is the Mighty World dessert shop and the fifth is the Mighty World flower shop.  They are the perfect size for ponies and have all sorts of great little accessories (and they're quite a bit cheaper than Re-ment or Calico Critters/Sylvanian Families).

Hard to tell, but Sunset Shimmer looks pretty with alternate hair colors!  And OMG, I'm in love with brushable-sized Black Tie Pinkie!  Her hair colors remind me of Morticia Addams!

Pony Corral / Re: How long have you been a collector?
« on: May 12, 2013, 11:37:51 AM »
Wow, lots of new collectors, how awesome!  I started collecting seriously when I found the pony community online back in 1999, believe it or not!  I hung out at a few different places at the time but mostly at Quacker County.     And then I left for a while, until G4 came out which really sparked my interest in collecting and hanging out in the community again!

Well, I refunded the money, and marked as payment un-received in eBay.  eBay would not let me submit a non-paying buyer request, but they did let me request a cancellation for the specific reason of the buyer requesting shipment to an unconfirmed address!  Now just to wait to see what happens from here, but I feel better already that I'm taking steps to try to get this cleaned up.

Thanks so much for the advice all!

The one on eBay and Paypal match, but they are both the "old" address from my understanding.  I agree, it's just a very awkward situation all around which is why I felt the need to ask about it. :/

I am thinking at this point my best course of action is simply to refund the money and try to do a non-paying bidder.  I don't feel comfortable trying to send a package to her "old" address and increasingly it sounds like even if I had the right address it would be a bad idea if it's not the one listed through eBay and Paypal.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
