Pony Brag Arena / Royal Ball at Canterlot Castle on Clearance
« on: October 07, 2012, 10:33:21 PM »
Yesterday I was at Target and in poking around for pony fun I came upon the last "Royal Ball at Canterlot Castle" set and found it was on clearance for 50% off.  Now I've seen this set a number of times before and never purchased it because I think the eyes and hair are off and the dresses/capes leave something to be desired but as I looked at it last night I realized every pony was wearing a crown.  The crown and the damsel hat that came with the Dream Castle (and later the one with Princess Tiffany) were the most highly sought after accessories my sister and I owned.  If your pony got to wear the crown... it was super special.  So I bought it.  I bought the whole set with it's tinsel hair and silly capes for the knowledge that I would now own six crowns... and Spike.  Silly?

If they make them look more like the characters, I may need to buy these!

I love these!  I thought the metallic blind bag ponies were neat but these are the best!

Off Topic / Re: Engagement Ring Superstitions
« on: October 07, 2012, 11:53:48 AM »
My engagement/wedding ring set was my grandmother's from her first of three marriages.  My husband's matching band was my grandfather's (1st husband) and than my father's (used in two marriages that ended in divorce).  My husband and I are still happily married.  I realize this would have more weight if I had been married for forty years but as I am not yet forty myself it's a moot point. ^_^

I knew the superstition and it did give me pause.  (I moved my wedding to June because the rhyme goes "Marry in the month of May, And you'll surely rue the day." Well that and several bridesmaids couldn't attend in May, that played a part too. ^_^)  I gathered information on so many traditions because I love them and am a student of folklore.  I remember reading that it's considered good luck to never try on the finished wedding dress before the wedding day.  Sarah, Duchess of York insisted the dressmakers leave a few stitches undone and she did them up on her wedding day and did that make everything magically work out in her marriage?  It's fun to wear something new, old, borrowed and blue but it's not going to make your marriage better, you and your husband hold that power in your own hands.

I love having an heirloom ring and I tell people who do wonder that our marriage is going to wipe out all the bad juju that lovely ring has had to bear.

True and amusing story: My grandmother hung her toilet paper with the end hanging over the top so my mom does and I do to.  To me it was the only way that made sense.  One day I asked my grandmother, "When did you decide to hang toilet paper this way?"  Her answer?  "My mother insisted the only correct way was under so as soon as I had a place of my own I hung mine the other way!"

P.S. As for cats... My husband's cat found toilet paper to be a fun toy (my cat has never been so active) so the first time I went to his place I couldn't find the toilet paper.  It was in a metal covered holder.  We still have the holder and use it for spare toilet paper but we have the toilet paper on the roll holder too (rolled over, of course).  Did I break his kitty of his bad habit?  No, rather his kitty is such a playful one that he broke a number of bath and beauty items by knocking them off shelves, so he has been banished from the bathroom and we keep the door closed now!

I lately have been humming and singing bits of pony songs... Maybe it's joining this board?  More specifically the "My Little Pony and Friends" theme song and "Call Upon the Sea Ponies".  They're catchy!

My sister says there's a bookstore in Manhattan that sells them. Definitely picking one up when I go to the MLP Project.

I bet that's Kinokuniya.  It's a famous Japanese bookstore chain.  Oh, I wish I could go too!

Oh Rainbow Dash with her actual hair!  If she looked like that I'd probably buy her although I still think her expression is far too meek.

Wow!  They look just amazing!  I love Jerrica's classic outfit but her doll's face looks much colder than I think of her as.  On the other hand Rio's expression is perfect!

Cherry Blossom Breeze is absolutely incredible!  I love her hair and the painting on her body is so delicate and lovely...  It reminds me of the absolutely beautiful art cards I could buy in Japan.

I wish I had kept more of my stickers on backings like that but as a little girl I got a MLP sticker book with places for each pony's sticker and I stuck some in it.  I like the sticker book, but I like loose stickers too... Honestly I wish I could get two of all the stickers, one for my sticker book and one for keeping loose!
