I would almost always go on Dream Valley as a kid to find out the names of all my ponies, but sometimes I'd forget.
My fancy pants babies were both called "Baby Diaper" jokingly by me and my brother.
Tiptoes (whose name I just had to look up because I still couldn't remember) was called Meadowlark after Clover's older sister in Tales. Her colours were right and she's a ballerina, like Meadowlark in the show.
Baby Cuddles was Baby Rattle until I found out her real name on Dream Valley.
I also disliked 4-Speed's NA name so I called him Trucker, his UK name.

I really want to like the gen 5 designs. I like that they have distinctive hooves and feathers! But their snouts are still just... so short. Their faces are so flat. It's like their faces get flatter every generation, straying further and further from horse-ness. Give me the horsefaces. Please. I beg you

My first were Pinkie Pie and Minty, but my favourite was definitely Sparkleworks. I was obsessed with her, for some reason. The orange pearly body and her cool fireworks symbol were just the greatest things to me.

I got her mostly because I think it's hysterical that her name is just "Pretzel." Not Pretzel Dazzle or Pretzel Sparkle, just Pretzel.

Is there any news with these ponies, anyway? Will there be any new releases this year?
It's confirmed on FB that there will be new "Rainbow Ponies" out this fall if retailers pick them up.
The assortment includes:

Sweet Stuff
Gingerbread
I really hope they are Twinkle-Eyed versions. But I wouldn't be sad if they weren't either. Lets just hope someone picks them up so they are made.
Oh that's pretty cool! I do hope they are twinkle-eyes, but non-twinkle-eye ponies would be pretty interesting. Like non-so-softs.

Also Zecora being othered as an African stand-in and that bufallo ep led to an onslaught of "racist AJ" memes and racist Equestria fanart in the B-fandom. Certainly not the showrunners fault but a good reminder of what impact these badly thought out plots and morals had. I'm sure a lot of kids got to accidentally see all that "AJ as a plantation owner" crap.
Good lord this also reminded me of that one episode where a Fashion-designer unicorn that Rarity has a crush on comes to town. As soon as he sees Applejack he's in love with her, and he says something like "I've always admired the work-ethic of earthponies."

Since this is my most hated episode, "Over a Barrel" in season 1 or maybe 2 had buffalo stand in for Native Americans with stereotypical feathers, warpaint and all. The Lame Six taught them that they have to share their land with the intruders (cowboy ponies/settler ponies) who wanted to use their land for their plantations.
Over a Barrel infuriates me. On top of that they had those stereotypical "war whoops" playing in the background of the buffalo stampede through the town. One episode I watched again recently that left my mouth agape was Bridle Gossip; the Zecora episode. All the things the ponies say about her, even considering it was intended to be in ignorance, is just unbelievable. Rarity said her stripes were garish. It's very obvious that this episode was supposed to have a message behind it about not treating people differently because of their skin colour but the Lame 6 act WAY over the top. They insult Zecora's home and "decor" (which appear to be based on African masks), and say that her "strange incantations" (i.e. a different language) points to her being "bad." Even the "lesson" at the end is wrapped up in such a way that's like "even if someone is strange or weird, don't treat them differently," iirc. Way to drop the ball, hard. Yikes.

I'm a collector of ponies and I would never call myself a Brony (too many negative connotations) but you bet I don't hide it. Why should I? It's a part of who I am. Plus, the more people know, the more eyes you have on the lookout
