Customs / Re: HQG1C Tail Holes?

I have two with holes partly punched, but the third has no butt marks at all, just a solid plastic mold.

I've tried making tissue paper or transparency paper wings, but I have trouble getting them to turn out like I want. I know some people sculpt beautiful wings, but here's my best effort:

I built a wire frame for the wings, covered it with a mesh, and carefully glued overlapping feathers to it. Then I used the wire to root it into the pony body, with the end result being posable feathered wings. The custom was Devil Jin from Tekken. Its not a great pic of the full pony, but it'll give you a good idea of the wings.

What a lovely color scheme! The only ideas I have for a name are Strawberry Vine or Strawberry Bramble. Strawberry Sundae because her colors remind me of ice cream?

She's so cute!

I love the detailed sculpting! As someone who has terrible sculpting skills, I'm always impressed by the tiny details like what you've done here!

Customs / HQG1C Tail Holes?
« on: February 22, 2021, 03:08:39 PM »
I've got some HQG1 ponies for customizing, but I noticed they don't have any tail holes at all. What tool do people use to punch a tail hole? Or is it easier to root the tail like the mane?

Thanks for all the advice! We do have a set of sliding doors that lead to our back balcony, where I was thinking of putting a cat tree, and we thought maybe another in our bedroom so Mr. Cat doesn't feel like he needs to climb into my closet!

My first rescue cat wasn't destructive at all, but he would CLIMB, which is why I've been so twitchy about my closet shelves.

Does anyone have experience with open litter boxes versus covered ones? I've seen some for sale with little hoods over them, and I've only used the flat trays in the past. A covered one might be nicer if the litter box needed to be placed in a common area?

Thanks for the advice! We haven't decided on an adult vs kitten yet, there are pros and cons of each. It will probably depend on what the local shelter has available, too. They only have about ten cats up for adoption last I looked, and half were already reserved.

We do know we want an indoor cat, preferably cuddly, and that is ok with being on its own for part of the day. I'm unemployed right now because pandemic, but I will have to go back in to work someday lol >.<

My husband and I are thinking of getting a cat. We've had cats before, but due to landlords, we've had to pass them on to friends instead of keeping them their whole life. This would be the first one that could be all our own.

One thing I know is that we need to pet-proof our house. For example, I have a small (one shelf) collection of plushes I've collected over years that I wouldn't want a cat to get into and destroy. Right now they're on the top shelf of my closet, but in theory a cat might be able to get up there and prance about in bliss. Then there's my MLP collection which might also be at risk? Do cats eat ponies? We've also got some exposed cords behind our television - do cats chew on those?

The previous two cats I've had were so chill and calm, never had any destructive play issues with them, but they'd been declawed and were strays before I took them in. And, of course each cat is different in personality. The second cat adopted my sister's Jigglypuff plush and would carry it in its mouth from place to place.  :P

Any of you cat owners - what should we consider in terms of pet-proofing? and other tips about adopting a cat? We are hoping to adopt from our local humane society.

Off Topic / Halloween is coming!

And its probably going to be quite different this year, given the pandemic. Which has gotten me into a fit of nostalgia, and poking around on the internet, I realized that a lot of people stopped trick-or-treating before I did. My friends' last year of begging for candy was senior year of high school, so age 17-18. Then we transitioned to parties and later, walking our own children to houses.

My plan for this year is to bring our activities inside: decorations, scary movies, a candy scavenger hunt (in lieu of going door to door), baking and carving pumpkins, spooky snacks! I'm still trying to decide what to do about costumes, though - if the kids dress up, they'll want to show it off, and I really want to keep things indoors as much as possible.

When did you guys feel too old for trick-or-treating? How are your plans going to be different this year?
