He looks amazing! I love the yarn hair.

Thank you! I think that the yarn works really well for short pony hair as it actually stands up!
I do have some regular doll hair on the way for a sailor moon custom though. :)

Here he is! Pony Potter. The Harry Potter themed G1 Twinkle eye pony custom.
Pony Potter started out as a G1 Twinkle eye Quackers who was in very bad condition. I did a full body repaint and rerooted Pony Potter with black yarn. Pony Potter’s sweater, shirt and pants are painted on, while his shirt collar is glued on. He also comes with his black hooded cloak, black wire frame glasses and his wand!

Pony Potter is available for sale for $40.00 plus shipping.

Oh yeah, mod podge could very well give the look I'm going for!  Thanks for the idea!  It's thicker than the sealant I use, so it would give more dimension I think.  I wonder how compatible it would be with a layer of the polyurethane over top.  Maybe I'll practice on something else before I do the pony.
Mod Podge would work if you let the coats really REALLY dry inbetween. Else it might get milky.
I used Triple Thick Gloss before to glaze eyes and cutie marks that needed a bit 3D touch. Maybe that's something, too. :)

I've been testing it on my "trial pony" that I keep around to test things on...it seems to be working okay but visible brushstrokes are an issue so far, so I need to keep experimenting.  Yes, drying with all those layers is something I am concerned about re: mod podge.  I'm glad it is cold out so with the furnace running its quite dry in my house...

I’m glad that I’m not the only one that has a “trial pony” . Lol!

Gusty in the movie is kind of a cantankerous jerk, even before she got smoozed. But she is one of my favorites anyway! I recently picked up her Basic Fun release, and after seeing how pretty she looks in bright white, I stuck my poor yellowed childhood Gusty in the window to see if I can get her sunfaded to a similar shade so she doesn't look so gross next to the new one.

Other favorites (hard to pick just one!): Ribbon, Tootsie, Masquerade, Braided Beauty, and my recently acquired Curly Locks...I'm really into Brush-n-Grows lately and hope to add more! I opened up a can of worms a few weeks ago (at least as far as my wallet goes!) by purchasing a huge lot of G3s, and Meadowbrook is a new favorite. Her coloring is similar enough for me to pretend she is Tootsie's younger, sassier sister. Sparkler is another all-time favorite...I bought the red-striped-tail BF version when she came out, and a couple days ago I nabbed one with regular hair...love them both!

Oh congrats! You’ll have to share photos of all of your new ponies lol. The glow n’ shows and regular sparkle ponies are some of my favorites! Also, just realized that I put in the caption that her name is BRIGHT GLOW, when in fact it’s STAR GLOW. Lol!!

Sure! Here are some of the G3s, and also the Basic Fun ponies. There are 2 Gustys because I bought one as a Christmas gift for my son. I wish I had taken more pony pictures last week while I had at least 100 of them spread all over my bathroom (husband was away on business and wasn't around to complain about them!)...now they are boxed up for now to make room to get Christmas stuff out. Wish I had some Glow-n-Shows...due to price I probably never will unless I'm lucky enough to stumble upon them in the wild!

They’re all so pretty! I’ll have to share photos of my new ponies when they arrive too!

I think that I purchased my glow n show a few years ago for just a few dollars. I hadn’t realized that they were worth anything!!

I love the flamingo compact. :)  It's the only one I own so far but I enjoy looking at the compacts.  I'm hoping to get more of them in the future.  I really like the snow globe ski resort too.

The new piñata one looks cute too!

Here they are! I’ve shared them before but this is my favorite picture.  Honestly, all of my childhood ponies are my favorites but these are the ones I have the strongest memories of.

Glory was my first pony.  I’ve always viewed her as the motherly sort.  Skydancer is wild and free in dark cloudy skies. Blueberry is a silly nut who can see and talk to the “invisible” giants around them.  Bubbles smiles mysteriously and is always disappearing into muddy fields.

What a cute group of ponies!

Not a clue, but interesting idea.  Looking forward to others thoughts.
I suppose the G4 owl would be too small for Hedwig?   Oh bit might work for Ron's Pig?

Hmm maybe it could work? I may make another in g4 form. This one is G1! He should be complete tomorrow. Can’t wait to share photos!

Has anyone ever used many layers of clear sealant to create a 3D effect with the symbol(s)?

I'm thinking of trying something like this: full body repaint...2 coats of sealant...speckles of paint all over body...2 coats of sealant...symbols...2 coats of sealant.

Have you tried something like this?  Do you think anything bad could happen with this many sealant layers, or this sandwiching of paint between layers of sealant?  Should I use even more coats of sealant between paint layers?

I'm using vallejo acrylic model paints and vallejo polyurethane matt varnish if that helps.  Thanks for any info/tips!

Sounds interesting!! I thought that the only way to achieve this look would be with the clear glitter resin ponies.

I’m desperately ISO the BAB Beary Merry advent calendar!! I just went to purchase and it’s completely sold out! This was going to be a Christmas gift that a family member desperately wants, but we know how quickly items sell out at the holidays.
Any help with finding this set would be greatly appreciated! I can purchase or offer custom ponies for trade!!

Working on a very magical pony! Any guesses? *hint* a lightning bolt scar and hooded cape.... :nerdy:

I'm excited to see pics when you're done...I'm guessing this pony may need a wand and a white owl as side accessories?

Wand yes, as for the white owl, we shall see!
NEEDS the owl!!! Come on, you can do it xxx

I know!! But I’d really like to use something like a LPS owl (because of the huge adorable eyes) , but can’t find one anywhere. I’ll most likely make another with the owl and his bird cage! Just depends on if this one sells or not. Thinking of using some iridescent fabric for the invisible cape lol.

Another hint. The custom is a twinkle eye pony!!

Right now, I'm in love with one of my newest ponies to my collection, Gusty! I just love her autumn vibes, but she also has a Christmas-y aura to her with the green and red hair paired with her snowy body. Gusty is a character I don't particularly care for in the movie and animated series, but she is such a gorgeous pony.

Ooh Gusty is super cute! I’d love to add her to my collection someday. :good:

I’ve never watched the movie though!
