Tbh I hate that kind of description since to me if anything they look more like drag queens. And since tbh I'm not the biggest fan of anything "human baby" (the maternal instinct skipped me sadly) I think of them as cartoony "little people" dressed in drag.

Posting with a little bummer news from All Time Toys...
I tried to buy these from them and they are out of Fizzy and Gingerbread. I used their online contact form to try and ask about it and this is what they replied
"Hello, Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately we are currently sold out of the 2 other ponies & we are unsure if we will be able to get a restock of them. If we do see them go back up for order from our wholesaler we will be restocking them but right now they are not up for reorder right now. "
So some mysterious 'wholesaler' is in charge of getting them back? I thought the store could just order what it wanted from Basicfun because it is an actual retail store that does a volume of products? I bet they are indeed an actual sell out in that they sold all they had because those 2 are the ones most in demand. Why would they not want to reorder more of it if it was such a good seller?
All I want is a place that sells all 4 so I don't have to pay an ebay scalper or pay multiple shipping charges.
These smaller toy stores often work with wholesalers and not directly with the companies. They want gargantuan orders that a small mom and pop can't make. However the wholesaler can make a gargantuan order and then let the smaller stores make their smaller orders.

you sure that wasn't a MLP with Original Pony Smell you just destroyed??? cuz G1 MLP have a sweet plastic smell to them even when there is no fragrances included with them.
also some of the G1s came with cosmetics, so that's permanently in that plastic.
UV light ruins ponies, don't put them in it!!!
basically.... if you are THAT sensitive, collecting the actual physical toys might not be the best idea... there are a lot of cross -containment issues. what if the previous owner kept all their 80's toys in a bin, are you going to chop their original hair off too? Because that just.... ruined the value of that pony. I don't think this is a good solution for your collecting, G1 ponies are very finite in quantity as it is.
I was honestly cringing the whole time I read their post. Even I, and I'm very much pro customization, wouldn't ever think to chop good hair off a G1. If you are ready sensitive to scents but want ponies in the G1 style maybe start with Basic Fun ponies. I don't think they are scented other than a few waves that clearly mentioned it on the box.

People can't buy what they can't find. There's certain MLP sets I wanted that weren't on Target or Walmart's sites and I'm sure weren't in those stores either. I was able to find two of them on Amazon and another was only spotted in a chain that exists only in the midwestern states. Honestly the G5 sets on Amazon have been frequently going out of stock. I wouldn't be surprised if with the pandemic a lot of parents switched to buying toys online since taking kids into stores isn't fun.

I can't find anything so I think if they were released it was somewhere like Russia or the Far East like what happened with the last wave of Cutie Mark Crew figures before they changed eye types. I tried seeing if they were on Entertainment Earth and they had gotten rid of the whole LPS section.

Weirdly I remember these. I got a (mostly unused) shrink plastic set that belonged to a cousin. I had no idea what the characters were from but when I got older I was disappointed when I learned that the plush ones existed but they looked more ball-like and less bear-like than the art which I guess was to account for the transformation feature. I wish they had little vinyl figures.

I meant more like tiny paint touch ups. Not like totally repainting the eye/marks/blush but like if there's a small scuff fixing that. I've done things like that for stuff in my own collection. (Mostly non pony).
What about if people touch up stuff for their own collection but end up eventually selling them on? Is it different because they at least got some enjoyment out of the pony while they had it so even if they don't make much extra it was still worth it?

I hope the dolls are good. Interesting that Clawdeen seems to be the protagonist this time round, instead of Frankie.. I wonder why? No complaints here anyway, Clawdeen's my favourite out of the original/core characters ^^
In the first reboot it was Draculaura who became the main protagonist. I'm guessing they are going with Clawdeen because diversity?

I know some people claim to dislike certain kinds of newer pony hair but I don't tend to touch it much on display ponies anyways. I'm more concerned by how a pony is going to hold up to play since often second hand ponies have been played with. Like I personally love tinsel on new ponies but on used ponies I often cringe. Tbh this also applies to dolls.
