Also makes me wonder if she has a friend here on the arena who lurks around to warn her to see if anyone caught on.
Assuming that the admins can block IP addresses.

Very likely.  As much as the admins CAN and DO block by IP, they cannot always weed all the bad ones out :(

We can and we do block or ban using a variety of different means - however people who scam are sneaky by their very nature and will always use every trick in the book to get past us. I can assure everyone we try our best and we have the very best gatekeeper in the land in our own Stomper...but sometimes people can elude us.

However, its worth remembering the Arena is still one of the major all-gen pony forums in the world - if you collect ponies you are likely to keep coming here to check things out. Just because someone has read this post does not necessarily mean they are a member it can be read without membership.

Are you allowed to post the city she was in?  Not the street address, but the city?  :)

City is fine...as long as its not a 2 street town and its almost virtually the same as her address. :P

I have added the ebay user to the title to make this more searchable on the forum and the interwebs.

When I was gonna buy it it has gone "out of stock".

Oh no! Thats a shame! I am sure it will come back up again in the future...and at that price you will know its a great deal :) Good luck on the hunt.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Care Bears- Where to start?
« on: January 16, 2018, 02:27:09 PM »
If it wasnt ponies...it would be Care Bears for me on the collection front. I still get really tempted to start and the price point is great. For me I would (and no doubt will one day :P) start with the original cuddly line up (especially Grumpy...cause he is the best!)

Maybe a little G4-esque for me to love...but they are cute!

Hasbro may wish they owned the rights on any plastic ponies of unnatural colours...alas they dont...there is nothing close enough for them to manage a claim against the manufacturs or designers on these cuties. Plus I kind of like other people doing their own pony thing...it reassures me that the further from actual ponies Hasbro gets that other people may manage to rein in back in a little :P

When its second hand goods that are no longer on the market, "is it worth it" can be a little subjective. Especially for games.

I think what you have to ask is "will you get enough enjoyment and play time out of it to pay that money".

Does the game come up for sale a lot? Are there lots of different places you could purchase or are the sales of it limited?

I love Spyro! Its always my go to game to go back to.

Pony Corral / Re: Closing the FiM forum

Ok guys. . I am going to try and ignore the irony that this thread has become such a hot button topic I am now locking it.

I am putting a temporary lock on this thread because it's getting us no where other than people getting upset.

I am going to individually answer some concerns that people have via pm initially. Any thing which is not a concern and just comment I am not answering. We want to reassure anyone who has any worries. . but we are not here to justify the decision any more than we have already tried to do so.

Making an exception to the rule we may reopen this for further comment but we can't answer accusations and comments on so many fronts at once. so this is a little breather for everyone for the moment.

Ok...to answer some points...

As I said before, removing the FIM forum doesn't eradicate G4, it brings G4 to the same status as all other generations which don't have their own private discussion space and which have managed to coexist in spite of that.

This...this kind of hits the situation on the head...this is an "all-gen, all-welcome" kind of board. We dont have stand alone forums for anything else and FiM (for our moderator sanity and for the good of the board) no longer needs or deserves its own unique space.

A forum for "media" discussion could eventually be a better option and, although its something we have discussed, it would most likely become a FiM foum in everything but name and therefore defeat our purpose in trying to combine things. So, right now, its probably going to be a no.

The entire reason the FiM forum was put in was so that people who wanted to discuss the cartoon wouldn't clutter up the Corral, and people who were not interested in cartoon discussion wouldn't have to wade through FiM topics to talk about toys

Yes, kind of like what we did with MH, this was the initial reason for the forum but ultimately this forum is not as topic heavy as it used to be. There are far fewer threads created in here than out on the Corral and they certainly will not drown out anything else on the board - thats what we have a whole team of moderation staff to prevent.

We understand this is not going to something that works for everyone but forums are quiter spaces than they used to be and keeping fewer boards, each with more traffic makes things easier to negotiate for members (especially those not using computers to access the forums) and drives more discussion. There are lots of reasons in the background for this rather than us just wanting "to drive people away" please be reassured we are doing it with good intent. We think and hope it will work for everyone.

I agree. Some collectors are understandably very particular about flaws - especially face flaws - you hear this alot with MH. If I was the buyer, I would much rather know before you shipped so I could decide if I wished to go ahead. A message sent to the buyer before sending is not going to get you out of a "item not as described" claim if the buyer wished to do so. And in turn, its definetely worth waiting to get a reply before you cancel.

If you send the doll with a cover note and the knowledge you will accept the return, this could start to get expensive for you as it will cost you postage to return and disk the doll in transit twice.

I hope the buyer comes back to you soon! :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / What the heck toys?!
« on: July 31, 2017, 03:20:40 PM »
Do you ever look at toy lines and just wonder how they got past marketing, quality and, just, well any kind of sensible person? The scary looking or just the weird that are far from the cute and cuddly?

My favourite are Kenner's Grabbits...I cant help but think they look like evil bunnies and I cant imagine ever purchasing one for a child lol!

Anyone have anything else scary or weird that they have come across in toy collecting? Suitable for Arena audiences of course :P
